Reading the entire first page is very sad. Very sad that Nigeria is becoming the illiterate capital of the world. Nigerians youth cannot even read the entire story to assimilate and understand what is under discussion. They just read the headlines and a few of the opening sentence, and start veering off into religious mumbo jumbo.
I think we should shut down our universities and convert them to theological institutions - churches and mosques. Afterall, students are more likely to become pastors and imams in Nigerians universities than to become scientists and logic thinkers. Our universities no longer believe in science and research, but just issuing out degrees for the sake of paper qualifications. We will remain a third world country for a very long time, as we depend on other science and technologically advanced countries to help us solve our basic problems, at huge costs.
Ignorance is really bliss and the mind does have to worry about difficult and troubling questions.
CanadaOrBust: But how do u convince a jury that a PO, FULLY AWARE he was being filmed, INTENTIONALLY killed a man?? Why would he wish to lose his job and possibly spend the rest of his life in jail??
Arrogance and systemic corruption in the police department. He must have gotten away with such behaviour numerous times in the past. The fact that the other 4 officers looked on and even participated in the murder indicates that such behaviour is the norm in the police department. The fact that the police pathologist could perform an autopsy and hurriedly concluded that other factors like drugs and heart condition also contributed to floyds death without taking a look at his medical history and the toxicology report shows that cover ups for such is institutionalized.
The tensions between the president and the military figures come as a letter was circulated by Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley Wednesday reminding military leaders about their oath to the U.S. Constitution.
"Every member of the U.S. military swears an oath to support and defend the Constitution and the values embedded within it. This document is founded on the essential principle that all men and women are born free and equal, and should be treated with respect and dignity," Milley wrote. "As members of the Joint Force – composed of all races, colors, and creeds – you embody the ideals of our Constitution. Please remind all of our troops and leaders that we will uphold the values of our nation, and operate consistent with national laws and our own high standards of conduct at all times."
Emperor Trump may be losing the support of his generals,
And some Trump's goons afflicted with self hatred wants trump to send troops on US soil. I keep saying that they are very poor student of history. They most probably have not heard of Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir, Hosni El Sayed Mubarak and Ben Ali. Even Putin (Trump's hero) dare not bring out the army against Russian civilians.
larrysworld: In a case of this magnitude, it is very risky to overcharge. The prosecution seem to be taking the case on the face value based on the heat it has generated in the public hoping it will go into the courts with the same steam. There is a vast difference between a 2nd degree murder and 3rd degree murder even though they are both murder charges. In the 2nd degree murder charge, you have to proof there is an INTENT to kill rather than INDIFFERENCE to human life in the 3rd degree charge.
Now intent is quite difficult to prove as it is not usually a clear cut case and this is the reason some prosecutors stay off 2nd degree murder charge unless there is compelling evidence. If going by what we saw on the video, the best will be a 3rd degree murder charge to ensure the officer does not walk because we can't prove intent he wants to kill, he was simply trying to make an arrest and the unfortunate happened due to his indifference (carelessness) regarding human life. If they go for 2nd degree and are unsuccessful in proving intent, then the officer would walk. Mind you, the juror has to be unanimous in their decision either guilty or not, just one juror disagreeing will lead to mistrial. To bring the case for a 3rd degree murder after having charged a 2nd degree; they would have to declare a mistrial and re-litigate the case all over again.
Now this is my opinion: There is more to this case than we really understand or can see. The two people apparently knew each other and even though George Floyd (RIP) was not a saint, he does not deserve to have his life cut short. I have a feeling that the prosecution might "intentionally" want to bungle this case for reason best known to them (i.e. was this done to intentionally start a race riot in the country). A similar case happened in Baltimore in 2015 and the guy walked because the prosecution could not prove their case.
America is a very litigious society. Don't forget their law is called Criminal Justice System; not Victim justice. It is the criminals that seem to get more justice at the end of the day not their victims.
I agree intent is usually difficult to prove. But in this case, from the video, its very obvious. So, unless the defense is mental instability, i don't see how you can choke a man for 9 minutes and then say you don't intend to kill him. The man was practically pleading with the officer not to kill him. The man informed him that he cant breath. He stopped moving and the officer did not let go of the choke hold. If the officer had let go of the choke hold and the man in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, then you can argue, he did not intend to kill him. But the man died before the arrival of the ambulance.
If after the clear cut video evidence with lots of witnesses, the police man (men) walks free, then there is something fundamentally wrong with the US justice system.
MT: In law, you need to prove beyond reasonable doubt. With the toxicology report, it is tough to argue that the drugs found in his blood was not a factor. You will see a lot of fireworks in court over this. Another dimension is the jury, the prosecution teams are to convince the entire 12 jurors. Then another remote consideration is fair trial . The defence lawyer might argue that based on the sensationalism of the case, there is no one in Minnesota who hasn't formed opinion on the case, so his clients might not have access to fair trial. Remember that jurors will be drawn from Minnesota. As incredible as it may sound, the case might never make it to trial , not to talk of conviction.
I know the court says "prove beyond reasonable doubt", watching the video, is there any doubt that George Floyd was not choked for over 8 mins? If you talk about technicalities, you might have a point, but if we are to talk actual evidence, i don't see the ambiguity. Its like shooting a man in the heart on video and in the presence of many witnesses and then claim that its not the gun shot wound that killed him but some other underlying conditions.
MT: I think you missed the point sir. That autopsy report is good for the prosecution. The defence lawyer would want to establish that his underlying medical conditions are partly responsible for his death. With this report , the defence lawyer can't explore that because the report says even though he is asymptomatic, that plays no role in his death.
Bro, it's a tough case that hangs in the balance. You can never know which side the jury will swing.
I honestly don't see how this case hangs in the balance. The whole scene is captured on clear video, no ambiguity. Even if there are underlying conditions, the video showed that he died as as result of being chocked. The prosecutor can simply put the police officer under the same conditions he put George floyd and see if he survives. If he survives for 8 minutes handcuffed with his hands at the back, with a knee on this throat and two other people with kneeling on his chest and ribs, then it will prove the choking didn't kill him.
Qstorm: In 2015, while Obama was President, 38 Unarmed African Americans were killed.
In 2019, while Trump was President, 9 Unarmed African Americans were killed.
Deaths of Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Freddy Gray, Philando Castile, Trayvon Martin all happened under the Obama admin, yet he didn't do jack shit, now the loser is mouthing off like he's the best thing that happened to the black race and some muthafuckin retards on here got their mouths stuck on his butt hole.
Oh! It's because Obama did not do anything when 38 Unarmed African Americans were killed during his 8 years of presidency, that Trump also will not say or do anything when a blackman was gruesomely executed and the police was trying to cover it up? Trump also must be so obsessed with Obama, that he literally walks in his shadow.
Qstorm: The sight of Obama makes me sick. The hypocritical bastard is the worst thing that happened to America.
How is Obama connected to the matter at hand? Is Obama still the president? We are talking about Trump's incompetence as president and all you can think of is Obama. Obama must be living rent free in your head. Whether Obama makes you sick or makes you dead, He is more popular and loved than your tin God.
Zuorom: They would have still taken him there if he refused. Even if it means dragging him there by force, they will do it. You think those guys are Trump loyalists? If Trump loses the elections in November but refuses to hand over, those same guys would bundle him out of the white house and transfer their services to the new president. But he won't lose so they'll be protecting him for another five years
Are are you sure he won't lose? What happens if he loses? Will you guys go on rampage or start an insurgency?
The poll numbers and sentiments are not good for Trump right now. So unless something extraordinary happens between now and November, like coronavirus virus suddenly disappears or the economy gets a huge boost or even a war breaks out with Iran, the chances of Trump winning is quite slim.
Zuorom: Trump didn't bring out the military to stop peaceful protesters, it's the looting and destruction by Antifa that he wants to stop. Nobody needs to be shot and if Antifa stops rioting nobody will be shot but suggesting that the president shouldn't do anything while a group of criminals go about burning, looting and attacking innocent citizens is a no no. What do you want Trump to do about the Antifa rioters?fold his arms and look the other way? That will be a deriliction of his duties. Btw, hope you know it's better that it's the army that is shutting them down than a situation where other citizens get fed up and decide to take the laws into their own hands?
That's why I say Trump(and his supporters) are very poor administrators. Criminals always take advantage of crisis situation. Always . A good administrator will try and resolve the real issues first before going after the criminals. How do you isolate the protesters from the rioters when they are embedded within the legitimate protesters. The army bullets would not discriminate between protesters and criminals. Criminals should face the justice system and not be summarily executed and the protesters should be engaged diplomatically.
Zuorom: Complete Anarchy is what Trump is trying to prevent by sending the military to shut the Antifa rioters down. They are saying they want to take their riots to the suburbs, do you have any idea what will happen if these Antifa fools are allowed to take their riots to the surburbs? They will come face to face with right wing America most of whom are gun owners so what do you expect will happen next?
You mean the protesters in all 50 states are Antifa members?
Sending in the military to shoot protesters will lead to anarchy. You must be a poor student of history. Dictators who send in the army to kill it's citizens often lead to a violent revolt, civil war or overthrow. Romania's former dictator Nicolae Ceausescu turned the military on the people, and it ended badly for him.
garetz: You are the one sounding ridiculous, can you even imagine the ridiculous example you gave to compare what's happening in America? A man was killed by cops in Georgia and you want President Trump to do what? Call for the killing of the the cops or what? Imagine a president coming out to pass judgement before the investigative process and judicial process is concluded, how does that sound to you? Even Obama didn't do that when black people were murdered by cops during his time and I don't recall any of you hypocrites complaining then. Trump didn't make any threats to anyone until the rioters started looting, destroying and burning down people's properties. You want him to fold his hands and give the rioters a free pass to continue their destructive actions?
Are you guys emotionally challenged or you have no iota of humanity in you? Have you watched the video at all, and if you have watched it how did it make you feel? Seeing a human being (forget he is black) being killed in such a gruesome manner. Even humans beings in Germany, UK and other countries are appalled.
It's much more than a man being killed by cops. Afterall, this is not the first time a blackman is being killed by white cops. It's the gruesome manner that is enraging people.
The whole country is grieving right now, there are protests in all 50 states. The best a president should do is to console the whole country. No one is saying he should order for the execution of the police officers, what he is expected to do is console the family of George Floyd, console the state of minnesota and promise justice for the George Floyd.
You will notice that cities where the protests were very peaceful were where the police chiefs engaged the rioters in a friendly and amicable manner. Some even matched with the protesters.
garetz: You're the one sounding pathetically ignorant. Trump is the president and you want him to come out and pass a guilty sentence on the cops before a judicial process is complete? Did you ask Obama to do that when the likes of Eric Garner and Trayvon Martin were killed? He did what he needed to do as president, ordering the FBI to investigate the matter and promising the people that they will get justice. So labeling antifa a domestic terrorist group is an unguarded statement? Why if I may ask? You are angry he is doing his job in an election timeline? I don't even want to talk about your most pathetic comment of all that Trump ran like a frightened lunatic or a fat pig into an underground an underground bunker, there is nothing to say about that senseless comment other than you are pathetically ignorant.
You guys are sounding more ridiculous everyday in your attempt to defend the incompetence of Trump.
Let me give you a small example of something similar here in Nigeria while I was a student at IFE (University of IFE ). Around 1988, during one of the protest by students, one student was shot and killed by a policeman. This exasperated the situation, and students was about rioting, the then V.C. Prof Wande Abimbola quickly reached out to the student union and called for an urgent meeting with with the students. The meeting was set for the football field at the sports centre. The V.C. who is an Ifa priest came wearing his full Ifa regalia. As rude as the students were, he spoke calmly and asked everyone to sit down. He himself sat on the bare ground and discussed with the student leaders. After about 1 hour of intense negotiations, the V.C. ordered the police off campus, and a major catastrophe was averted. Professor Wande Abimbola's tenure was the only period I recall that there was no major riot in IFE. A good administrator listen to grievances and calm the nerves of aggrieved people, not issue threats.
Qstorm: The US has been through a civil war, Two world wars, 9/11 and shit, so it's deploying the army to clear the streets of Antifa miscreants that will end the US? You need to get your head out of your own ass to take some fresh air bitch!
Another Trump's fart filled brain comment. The civil war was between two sections of the country over slavery. The world wars were the US fighting common enemies and not each other. Now, tell me what a Trump induced conflict will be about? Liberals vs conservatives, Democrats vs Republicans, Trump supporters vs Trump haters, right? How, will you divide the country along those ideological lines? It's not simply a north against south like the civil war. It will be states against states, county against county, families against families. It will be complete anarchy.
Trump is a terrible administrator and not fit to be a city mayor. He only knows how to use threats, lies, primordial religious sentiments and bravado to get people achieve his aims, not superiors intellect and negotiating skills. France had far worse riots in 2005, where rioters burnt French cities for 3 straight weeks, president Jacques Chirac did not threaten the rioters with the military. He did not threatened the Governors, he deployed the necessary anti riot Police to bring the situation under control, after which he began negotiations. Trump is going to be the textbook example of a terrible administrator.
Qstorm: TRUMP: If Governors and Mayors can not protect their streets then I will deploy the US military and solve the problem for them
Yesterday some fools were calling him a coward hiding in a bunker, today the same fools are now saying he is too authoritarian and a dictator. Bloody Fools
If he does that, that might be the end of US, as we know it. Deploying US military to kill US citizens on US soil, might lead to complete anarchy. Even politicians in third world countries can't turn their military on their people. What happens after 1,000 deaths, 10,000 deaths? You don't have think the US military will turn on itself and on politicians?
Sometimes you need to get your head off Trump's ass to take some fresh air. It will allow fresh air to your brains, and allow you to think straight.
Qstorm: You have a problem with the president telling governors to take back the streets from rioters?
If the riots turn into a very bloody confrontation with thousands of lives lost, will Trump take responsibility? Of course no. He and his goons will still blame the Governors.
How can you say the Bible was plagiarized from Egyptian, Babylonian fairy tales. Does the word of God look like fairy tales to you?? You should have said the word of God was written in verbatim with Egyptian fairy tales... Even the Quaran cannot be brought so low.
The events Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Daniel etc, looks like plagiarism to you.
Stop saying the word of God is plagiarized please. They are true and they are life. Infact the word of God is the Lord Jesus Christ.
These books were written by Revelation and God's guidance.
The Egyptian and Babylonian civilizations were much older and more advanced than the Jewish. Writings and physical structures from Egypt and Babylonia were much older than Isreal. Egyptian and Babylonian cities were much older than any Jewish settlement. So, who is likely to plagiarise who?
Below was the 42 divine laws of Maat, which some parts was plagiarized by moses to obtain the 10 commandments. The 42 divine laws of Maat predates the 10 commandments by at least 2000 years. Most of the laws and ordinances by moses were gotten from Egyptian laws. Most of the stories by moses was from Egyptian and Babylonian texts.
Jokerman: Style or philosophy doesn't mean the writings aren't true........
The events that happened during the time of Noah, Father Abraham etc, have all proven to be through...even the Lord Jesus Christ himself confirmed all these. Moreover all these writings can also be attributed to prophet Enoch, the man who was raptured to meet with God because if his holy ways...
Search for the book of Enoch, to open your eyes to understand a lot about the world from time immemorial, and understand a lot why the Bible is the only thing human beings need now
You are arguing here, there and everywhere, without no sense whatsoever. I told you most of the biblical stories were plagiarised from Egypt, Babylon/Mesopotamia and Persia, you said they were lies and it was the other way round. You said moses that wrote the bible could not have copied because he was not in Babylon. I pointed out that Moses was educated in Egypt by Egyptian scholars and not by Jews. He never even lived among Jews until during the exodus. You are now going off point by taking about Enoch. How many books of the bible was written by Enoch. Even the Enoch you takedown about was born in Mesopotamia and built his city in Mesopotamia.
Timbuktuo: Its always about politics. The last time something like this happened and there was big noise about it was in 2016, yet the police had been killing Americans of all races between 2016 and when George Floyd was murdered.
Blacks aren’t the only race being killed by police unjustly, but we don’t hear about it when it happens to people of other races because attaching the motive of race to the murders gets clicks for the media and is a good tool for demonizing the GOP as racist, even though the perpetrator police fellow may be apolitical or even a Democrat.
So to you there is no racism in America and blacks are not racially targeted. You must either be an ultra white supremacist or simply living in an alternative universe. Even most white people in the US agree that there is a racist problem and blacks are on the receiving end of it.
See this clip were Jane Elliott asked her white audience to stand up if the want to be treated the way blacks are treated in America. NONE stood up.
Actually it is the other way around... Do Moses that wrote the books of Genesis was in Babylon or what??
What kind of devilish subversion of the Lord's book is this??
See dementia as a result of swallowing white man's doctrines you have absolutely no idea of its origin. I am truly sorry for your mind and psyche that is solely based on making you feel inferior to the white man.
Even from your biblical fables, Moses was raised and educated in the Egyptian palace. So what does that tell you? That the style, philosophy and plots of his writings would be Egyptian.
Excuses: And you that have the proof that God doesn't exist where is it..Your believe affects your way of life..hope u don't wake up someday only to find yourself preaching the same gospel u despise..people have done and said things worst..
He doesn't need to prove your God doesn't exist, just as he doesn't need to prove, UFOs, Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot, Vampires, Dragons, etc., doesn't exist. The onus to prove lies on the one making the claim. Present your evidence and others will examine the evidence to accept or reject it.
For example, all the evidence I have seen so far of UFOs have not convinced me we have had visitors from outer space. Maybe if the people making claims present better clear cut evidence, I might change my mind, but it's stupid to say UFOs exist because I can't prove they don't.
Proffdada: even with evidence of nature, your dumb brain still thinks creation is accidental
Evidence of nature is evidence of nature, evidence of nature is not evidence of God. Just like evidence of fire is evidence of fire, evidence of fire is not evidence of matches,
FlordFlorez: Im a science student. I studied both physics, chemistry and biology. More than half of what we were taught/read were not fully proven. Science to some extent is mysterious just as God and everything about Him are. Stop being ignorance and foolish at the same time.
Then you must have attended a quack school, with no science lab. My secondary school had extensive science labs for chemistry, physics and biology. A science student who never carried out experiments to prove basic science theories cannot be called a science students. He is no different from arts students that cram textbooks to pass exams.
inforesource: The entire World should leave WHO to china. They have turned to real threat to human existence.
And who would suffer most if the whole world leave W.H.O. to China? Most certainly third world countries like Nigeria where we have the highest maternal and infant mortality rate in the world, and where simple diseases like malaria, measles, meningitis, cholera is still on rampage.
