I have never heard any of his former school mates or even university mates refer to him as militant Muslim. He had a long career in the banking industry, non of his former colleagues or associates had ever referred to Lamido Sanusi as a fundamentalist. He could have retired quietly from CBN in a few months from the time he was unceremoniously removed by Jonathan, and take appointment from world Bank or other international financial bodies like his predecessors. He did not need to criticise Gandoje or the Northern elites for the way the pauperise their people. He could remain silent and enjoy his emirship until he dies. Poverty and desperation can lead women to do despicable things.
