TruthinAction: He should focus more on his studies. He shouldn't win trophies in chess and fail in class. They should allow him to continue if he is doing well in school. Otherwise, he should forget playing chess for now. Bad advice. It is trophies that will qualify him for scholarship and provide him the opportunity of going to school to the highest level. Where do you expect a homeless family to get the money to send this kid and his brother to school? Besides, winning trophies comes with cash prices, fame and recognition. Winning trophies would also help the family's asylum application as Trump is looking for skulled or talented immigrants. |

Igbos in other African countries are doing just fine, taking over Ghana, SA and Gabon, but we would have done best on our own home soil, with good policies and a level playing field. Like the adage goes, it is only a bad workman that quarrels with his tools. Civilizations in the past had built fantastic monuments and societies with very little and sometimes bad tools. You say you have taken over Ghana, SA and Gabon, please give examples of how. Are you guys at the head of the technological, scientific, social and industrial development in those countries. I am sure citizens of these countries will disagree with your assertion of taken over. You said "would have done best on our own home soil, with good policies and a level playing field", but you refuse to state these good policies that you need before you can start performing at home. You have governors who receive billions of nairn monthly to make and implement good policies and a level playing field, but you seem oblivious to them. You have state legislators to make the good policies and level playing field you want. You still refuse to see them. It is only Buhari you see and care about. You say that Buhari that had been president for 4 years is the reason why igbos are not doing well on home soil. |

@OP I disagree with you on almost all levels. I do not have the time or energy to go into all your assertions, assumptions and conclusions, so I will take the issues one by one as I have time for. 1. To start with, there will possibly be no Nigeria anymore. And even if there is it won't be the complete Nigeria we know today. The reason why some sections will leave you will know as you read other points and understand especially the number 2 point. This your number one point is neither here nor there. Of course there is always a possibility that Nigeria will be no more, but the chances of a split in 40 years time is highly remote. Maybe if the right steps for secession is being taken today, then succession by that group might be possible in 70 years, but no actual steps to succession has been taken as of today. If you study similar groups of people seeking succession and that have taken the right steps, you will see that some have been at it for over a century, and have still not achieved secession. Eritrea was a colony of Italy that was taken over by Ethiopia after World War 2. the country became part of the British protectorate after the Italians left. When the British left, they ceded the territory to Ethiopia, but as an autonomous unit. In 1961 Ethiopia unilaterally withdrew Eritrea's autonomy and stationed troops inside the country and hence began a 30 year war of independence, which was won by Eritrea. I don't want to go into the historical background of South Sudan independence history, but the South Sudanese fought a 50 year bitter civil war with Sudan, costing millions of lives before they were able to gain independence in 2011. As I said, I do not forsee viable secession in Nigeria within the next 50 years. Another obstacle to secession is that Nigeria never had big autonomous political units since the time the British amalgamated the country. Yes, before colonisation, there was the sokoto caliphate, the Oyo Empire, the Benin Empire and numerous autonomous or semi autonomous tribes in the East and Niger delta areas. If we were to go back into the time before colonisation, when the various tribes were autonomous, we would have to break the country up into more than 50 pieces. |

Chommieblaq: I don't think i have the energy to go on and on with you on this, one has to recognise a fault for it to be corrected. I won't applaud her for being rude or turn a blind eye to that. The onus lies on the parent to curb her of these character, direct her to the right path. I pity her parents, I sincerely pity them, they should sit up in their responsibilities.
PS saying i pity the parent doesn't mean i exonerate them of the blame, they are to be blame 100% You might not understand my annoyance at putting blame on the poor girl. I feel she should be pitied and helped if possible. You could feel the frustrations on her face and voice when he was being interviewed by a stranger, immediately after being sent home from school. To me in that interview, I even feel she was not rude enough. My children will never answer a stranger on the streets, not to talk of one with microphone or phone. You measure the progress and development of a country by the way it's government and people treats it's children and women. Nigeria is lacking in these. We care very little for our children. This video is a huge indictment of how we value children, there are millions of children who have no hope of education or a better life and all of us, governments, churches, etc, just turn a blind eye. |

sweetrace: She was angry and frustrated. But she is still a rude girl who needs to be corrected. There’s another video of hers where someone came out to help her. She was with a woman I believe is her mother. When she was asked to say something. I was expecting to hear her thank those that had helped her. But she went on to say she has already told the school she’s not going back to that kpako school in that very rude way of hers. A lady, I assume is her mother, was busy laughing. How on earth is that funny? Is the school a charity organization? She’s complaining that they sent her home instead of beating her because she can take the beating. I applaud her zeal to learn, but she is uncouth. It has nothing to do with pidgin. It pains me when I see a woman talk like this, maybe you do not have a little girl of your own. I have three children, and it is the girl who happens to be about the age of this little girl that gives the the biggest wahala. With her I dare not pay her school fees late not to talk of failing to pay at all to the point of sending her home. Little children especially the girls need lots of attention and guidance to make them straight. They are like sponge and absorb the character of their immediate environment. There is a saying in my tribe "a fowl does not know or care about the cost of corn". It applies to children also. They do not know or care about the cost of schooling, feeding, housing, etc. It should not concern them. You brought them into this world, the onus is on you to provide the basic am amenities to them. |

You Pity the parents who do not know how to care, train or provide for their child, you pity teachers who punish and take their frustrations out on innocent children by flogging children for the failure of their parents to pay school fees. In the US, the teachers would go to jail and the child would be taken away from the parent. Obviously, the little girl had been physically abused to the point that she is hardened and immune to flogging. And you are here blaming the poor girl. |

SIRTee15: I hope u know africa had universities before any European country... In fact white people had to travel n learn how to establish a university from Africans before they could build oxford or cambridge universities.... Europe was a massively undeveloped and backward place at the time Africans and Arabs were building pyramids, sailing across the ocean or constructing roads....
What white man has above every other race is principle of self preservation.... The white man will never develop an area unless he intend to reside in the territory.... Before he does that, he destroys whatever civilisation or people that he doesn't understands or not his colour.... He destroys their culture and damage their psyche with inferiority complex..... The Chinese and Asians has proven there's no big deal about the white man's achievement... China lifted 850 million people out of poverty within 20 years.... A feat no other race has ever achieved.... Now Chinese are ahead in many advanced technology n catching up in other areas.... The most modern cities in the world right now with futuristic infrastructure are in china and middle east not Europe or america....
The black man can catch up and even beat other races if we drop our inferiority complex and religious dogma.... Embrace hard work, logical thinking, technology and emphasise on meritocracy..... We were ahead before... We can do it again..... False! When we are talking about Africa, we are talking about sub-Saharan Africa ; black African, not north Africa that had interactions with Europe and Asia stretching back centuries. Sub Saharan Africa has always been the basket case of the world. We contribute little in terms of science, technology and even writing in human development. Our main problem is our value system. We elevate vanity to a status symbol. We love to dance, sing, worship and sex more than any other higher endeavours. We did not and have not imbibed the culture of success through hard work like the Asians, or the culture of inquisitiveness through science like the Europeans. |

If the army cannot supply packaged or canned food, kerosene or gas stove which does not produce visible smoke is more appropriate. |
