Knowing Nigerian elites, I think the lawmakers are asking for a return of police checkpoints probably because one of their own must have been affected in the robbery of the luxurious bus, because there had been worse cases of armed robbery on that sagamu - ore stretch. There was one horrible incident whereby passengers were asked to lie down on the expressway and an on coming bus mauled some of them, and we did not hear a whimper from the legislators.

Attacks on luxurious buses was so rampant in the past even with thousands of checkpoints that a mobile policeman was attached to each luxurious bus. I even think removal of checkpoints must have reduced the incidence of armed robbery on the highways

I am so disappointed at the reasoning levels of these lawmakers, they were also supposed to be well educated a and well traveled. They should tell us how many developed or even developing countries they have seen roadblocks with gun tottering policemen pointing a gun at ordinarily citizens on highway in order to check their papers.

checkpoints are only effective in situation of war or breakdown of law and order or when there is a reported criminal on the run, and the check points are only mounted in affected areas for a specific time.

What I would have expected the lawmakers to advocate is ;
1. Effective vehicular patrol.
2. Effective and modern telecommunications gadgets.
3. A simple toll free number like 911 to reach the police in times of emergency.
4. Demand quick response time in times of emergency.

checkpoints were unable to stop nigerdelta militants, boko haram and daily kidnapping in the SS and SE (sometimes few meters from checkpoints), so I wonder how they think checkpoints can stop highway robbery.

The problem with the lawmakers is that they have immunity against police extortion, harassment and accidental discharge, after all they have truck loads of mobile police guarding them 24/7.

They want to tell us that they don't know that highways robbery and highway kidnapping had been going on for decades, check point or no check point

Enugu – Enugu State Government has promised to support ingenuity of an indigene who has developed a wind turbine that generates 24 kilowatts of electricity at 10 metres per second wind speed.
Speaking at the site of the turbine at Akpuoga Nike, near Enugu, the state's Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mrs Patricia Arum, said the government would collaborate with the fabricator to diversify its energy sources.


Arum expressed happiness that the project was totally indigenous, saying it was in line with the mandate of her ministry to harness human and natural resources in the state for sustainable development.
She commended the fabricator for his ingenuity and said the state government was willing to partner with him in its quest for the industrialisation of the state.
Arum said there were serious challenges in producing electricity for the country and because of this many industries could no longer cope.

"That is why even in this state, we don't want to depend on one source of energy , so we want to encourage him. And I know our state governor will be happy to partner with him because it is part of his four-point agenda. He wants to transform the state, he wants to empower the people of Enugu State."

Speaking earlier, Mr Sabastine Omeh, the Managing Director of Hybrid Micro Machines Products Ltd., fabricators of the turbine, said the turbine was the result of two years of research which he solely financed.
Omeh, a graduate of engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, said he was challenged by the energy crisis in the country and the need to develop indigenous technology.

"What you are seeing today is a product of painstaking pioneering into an alternative electric energy source to the spasmodic and epileptic electric power in this country.
"In spite of fortunes already sunken by the government and current concerted efforts, the sign is still dim that we are near out of the woods.
"By and large, only regional approach based on propinquity and potentiality of power resource bases like water, coal, wind and others, can bring about any lasting solution to our nagging power problem."

Omeh said he had perfected the design of 150kw and 500kw models which could solve the problems of rural electricity, street lighting, rural boreholes and irrigation, among others.
He said he had also designed a coal biomass turbine which was based on the surplus coal reserve in the state. "There is no doubt that with appropriate government interest, Enugu State will sooner than later join the league of bio-mass energy states."

Inventor of electric wind turbines? Well wind turbines that can generate electricity had already been invented - for centuries.

A single wind turbine that can generate 24kva of electricity from a 10m/s? Either the turbine is as high as the empire state building or it works with miracles or juju.

In line with mandate to harness natural resources of Enugu? Never knew enugu was in the wind zone. Thought that the the most abundant natural resource of enugu is COAL.

The issue of livable planets is a very trickish one. Before live can evolve on any planet, many parameters have to align within a very narrow range of values.

First the planet must be situated within a temperature zone that allows liquid water. Then the size and mass must be within a range that allows it to keep its lighter gases of nitrogen, oxygen and co2. If it is too big, then the atmosphere would be too thick and the lighter gases would combine with other elements to form heavier gases and compounds.

There are so other factors like magnetism of the core, presence of protective gases in the atmosphere, etc.

I am not saying that this conditions are unique to earth, but billions in our galaxy is a huge overstatement.

Science and technology issues is like a foreign language even within our schools and higher institutions. That is why you do not see publication of science journals within our universities.

If you check our vendors and magazine stands, you would not find science related magazines.

The goods are not going to be shipped through the international airport, it would need a sea port, so I thought a sea port would be more of a priority than an airport.

You case is very simple, make a formal complaint to the nearest police station, brief a lawyer and sue the church. Make sure you ask for damages of at least 10million for the physical, psychological and mental trauma you have endured.
Don't forget to urge the police and lawyer to gather evidences to be used in court. Get a sound engineer to measure the decibel levels at your house at night. Get a doctor's report on the damage done to your ears by the noise and the stress you have been through.
If you have the patience to see it through, you could have enough money to move out to your own house.

You are making two critical mistakes in the above posts;
First you are giving your own interpretation to chambers dictionary definition of incubus, it says a demon supposed to have sexual intercourse with women and in no Way talk about husband, unless your definition of husband is every man, demon or even woman a woman have sex with. We all know what it means to have a husband or wife.

Secondly you did not bother to go deep into the real meaning and origin of incubus. Here is a wiki definition:

You see incubus and its female counterpart is a creature of ancient mythology ; sumerian, Greek and English mythology, just like Eros, Bacchus, Medusa and other spirits and demons. It does not connote anything in contemporary western society.
I still stand by my proposition that ancient societies were searching for explanation for bed wetting and the sometimes state of statis that grips people (especially the young), that affect people just before sleeping off or just before waking up in the morning. The issue of spiritual spouses is an interesting one. I would want us to look at the phenomenon logically.
I want people who are more knowledgeable in spiritual affairs to educate us on the following questions;
1. Is it a doctrine of the Christian or Islamic religions or a stubborn vestige of out African Traditional Religion. I suspect it is from our traditional religions because I do not think there is any reference to spiritual spouses in the Bible or Koran, but has always been part of our traditional religions.

2. Why is it common among black Africans but rarely heard of in other societies like Arabia, European and even orientals.

3. How does the spiritual relationship work? Does the person who is involved have any say in who he/she is betrothed to? Is there a ceremony or an initiation; consciously or unconsciously? Also is there a whole family of spiritual family ie children, uncles, fathers, mothers, grandparents, etc.

4. What is the purpose of spiritual sex? Is it for spiritual procreation?

From my personal experience of wet dreams when I was younger is that it is a psychological state of mind. Out dreams reflect our obsessions, aspirations and inhibitions. It is very likely that a person who is sexually inhibited as a result of religious principles would most likely transfer his/her sexual fantasies to his/her dreams. Your postulation above is wrong. What Darwin said was that all SURVIVING species have been successful at adapting perfectly to their environment or evolved to adapt perfectly to their environment. Those that fail to adapt becomes extinct and that is why over 99% of all species that have Lived on earth are extinct.

As I explained earlier, conscience is a social adaptation to help ensure survival of a group family or specie. If conscience breaks down in a society, that particular society would become extinct in a matter of decades or at best millennia.

In Nigeria the rewards and respect for wealth has killed the conscience in regards to stealing from the public while in Japan the conscience and shame of being caught stealing public funds will lead an average person to commit suicide.

The problem with your above postulation is that it takes a very narrow view of evolution, evolution operates. On various levels. Evolution has even gone beyond the simplistic darwinian model.

Evolution is about survival, any trait that enhance survival is improved upon, and when I say survival, it does not necessarily mean individual survival, it can be group, family, specie or even taxonomic survival. The one that is most threatened takes immediate precedence over others. That is why in most species, the issue of personal safety becomes secondary when group or family safety becomes threatened.
Conscience in human is according to the social, mental and even spiritual development of the people. When a people came to the realization that group interest should supersede individual interest in order to ensure long term survival of the group, then conscience would be a veritable tool for self regulation. Most of the time a society evolves various codes and laws to regulate conscience of the group. Sometimes subtle threats are use (real or imagined), at other times force and violence is used.
