I doubt the OP read what he copied and pasted not to talk of understanding the issues. The article reeks of concocted lies, twisted lies and senseless inferences. does it make sense to say that almost all prominent evolutionist debunk evolution, including darwin. Then how come they all remain evolutionists after disagreeing with it. The general principle of evolution is accepted by all evolutionists and in fact by all biologists. It is in the finer details that there are disagreements. There is no aspect of science that there is total agreement,as new ideas are introduced to attempt to offer better explanation for observable data. Even within Christianity, no two denominations have identical beliefs, the only unifying factor is the worship of jesus, be in catholic, Methodist, redeem, synagogue, cele, jehova witness, etc. |
Sorry to bruise your ego further, but I must inform you that we are not descendants of apes, we are indeed apes. We are categorized as one of the great apes. Your beliefs or your god or gods does not make you more special than any other animal not to talk of any other human being. Its is really a misnomer when people talk of design, A design has conception stage, then the actual design and then production stage after experimenting with various prototypes. The Christian god just conjured up the universe, the planets, earth, millions of species of plants and animals, million more of bacteria and viruses, etc, from his mind. That is magic and has nothing to do with design. |
Folaski, you agreement with the skewed view of trueseeker show you do not have the foggiest idea what biological evolution is, and I doubt your educational background(non science based) and your ego(unable to accept you are an animal like any other) would not allow you to understand the very meaning of evolution. Sorry that you ego is being bruised but |
Mr Olaadegun, you continue spewing lies and deceit with reckless abandon. If you are not insinuating that all animals eat herbs before the flood, it would be there were no lions until after the flood, now you are saying that population growth has been growing linearly all through human history and doubles every 150 yrs. Even an amateur demographer knows that world population growth had Been growing very slowly in geometric progression because mainly of wars and also dues to diseases, famine and natural disasters. In fact the population of Europe was reduced by one third by the bobonic plaque. The world population only hit one billion about two hundred years ago. The acceleration of population growth in modern times is due to less deadly wars, improved medical science, improved agricultural science, etc. Please if you want to support your arguments with science, take time to understand the details of the science instead of blindly copying and pasting rubbish. |
@folaski, arrogance? The most arrogant people on earth is the Americanized variety of Christianity(pentecostals). About the image of god, the white bearded Caucasian man is the image most Christians have of god. Furthermore, all major characters in Christianity are white Caucasian men, including prophets, angels, apostles, messiahs, etc. How does cells acknowledged your god? Which cells? How come my neurons are not aware? Since you know the expanse of the universe, does it make sense that your universe wide god would have so much headache just because an insignificant person in an insignificant planet in an insignificant solar system in an insignificant galaxy refuses to massage his or its ego. |
Why not use the same argument used for God on the universe also? The universe could be an uncreated entity. The universe could be eternal. If God is an uncaused cause, why does the universe need to have a cause? Given our greatly increased knowledge of the expanse and workings of the universe, does it still make sense to view a creator who is a very old Caucasian white male with white beard siting his ass on a golden throne surrounded by his servants, guards and son, dispensing justice on only humans. |
Orikinla, thanks for the quotes, it gives us point of reference in out debate. It is a pity I cannot insert quotes as I am using a mobile phone. I still maintain this is still the regular campaign promises of the average Nigerian politician of I will build roads, schools, hospitals, jobs, etc. Without details in terms of logistics and finance on how to bring these promises to fruition. First, how much will each school cost? Where will they get the teachers to run these schools? Will he not need to train the teachers first? Most importantly where will he get the money to built and maintain the school including paying the running costs, after deducting recurrent expenditures of running the state, security votes, other capital projects, etc. Why does he not put a cost to the scheme viza-viz the revenue of the state. Secondly, I am from a riverine area of delta state so I know that most of the villages are not accessible by road but only by boat. So how his busses going to operate in those communities. I am sure Ben Bruce think that bayelsa stops at yenagua, even Yenogua has few accessible roads. I even doubt his acclaimed Akassa is accessible by road. About giving the $100m intervention fund to people and having their communities stand for them, that is the greatest joke of the century. Ask anybody who is from the nigerdelta about communities and their politics, it always smeared with greed, endless court cases and even assassinations. Ask shell and other oil companies dealing with communities, it is very difficult. That is why I say Ben Bruce is not on ground bayelsa, he thinks bayelsa is like Lagos and profer lagos like solutions. |
As I said, I have nothing against Ben Bruce as a person but I can tell you he is not in touch with the grass roots. I have known him personally since his early days and I can tell you he does not like to identify with the lower class. He has lived in Nigeria most of his life, with just a few years in the US for higher education, but he speaks with an American accent as if he arrived from the US yesterday. I doubt he can speak his native ijaw language. I also doubt he has a house in his village or yenogua. If we are operating a proper system, he should be competing for governorship of lagos instead if Bayelsa. |
@orikinla, please kindly tell us the master plan and its practicability. I hope you will not mention the one about growing cassava in riverine communities. |
@mazaje, I dey fine. I struggle with day to day issues as most people in niger without godfathers. I breeze into religious section of nairaland from time to time, but avoid making contribution. I commend you for holding forth for the old guards, reminds me of the good old days. |
Ben Bruce has not said anything an average Nigerian politician has not said, I will do this, I will do that without details on how he will do it. He even said he will dash people money without collateral. although I respect his achievements in business, he built his empire on stolen money. Silverbird was only managing to survive before he had a government appointment (his most beautiful girl in nigeria was not even regular by then) but after he left NTA silverbird cinemas started springing up like redeem. He was was building NTA stations in every state capital, the contracts of which he handled through a proxy. He did a lot of things especially in the build up to COJA. OBJ had to sack him summarily. He now wants to handle Bayelsa treasury. I am sure there would be a silverbird cinena in every local government after just one tenure. |
Immediately after the flood, how did the animals feed. Because the fabled flood would have destroyed all vegetation. Even if Noah kept seeds in his ark, it would take months if not years for grass, trees and fruits to repopulate the earth. In all that time what did Noah and his family eat, because they would have ran out of supplies not long after the flood. |
I support the idea 100%, the problem is how the mode of operation of the program. If the nigerian masses were not so docile, then I would have said it is a crazy idea. But the nigerian masses has\ is being rape.d and they flock churches and mosques praying for relief or at best come to nairaland and engage in academic debates. Then the only option is to try and accommodate out oppressors. Because if you are waiting for then corrupt executive or the cleptomaiac legislators or even the compromised judiciary to do it for you, then you will have to wait until jesus come back - twice. You can see that western government looters to bring looted funds into their country but make it impoSsible to take funds out. If we could repatriate the hundreds of billions of dollars stashed in foreign countries, our economy would boom overnight while the foreign countries holding the money would go burst. |
Noah's ark and its irrationality had been discussed over and over again, a look at the archives or a simple google search would have answered your questions. Here is my contribution in a similar thread https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-495832.32.htm (sorry you have to copy and paste because I am using a mobile phone) I said for the flood to cover mount Everest, you would require up to 30 times the amount of water on earth today. So the question is where did the water come from. Secondly such an increase in the volume of water will have serious consequences on the mass of the earth with in turn will have serious consequences on the revolution and rotational orbit of the earth. appart from the millions of species of animals, what happened to species of plants? Apart from Noah's ark needing to be a zoo, it also needed to be a botanical garden and an aquarium. |
Nigerians have the most shallow minds on the planet, no wonder our governments cannot see beyond their nose. They always engage in Knee jerk reactions to all problems. Furthermore, it is only a mad man that expects to take the same action over and over again and expect a different result. The government had been removing petroleum subsidy for as far back as i can remember and after a few months we come back to the same spot we started, debating about removal of fuel subsidy again. Should we not look back and reappraise the problem and proffer a different solution? The problem of fuel subsidy is much more complex than the pump price of fuel, it is a problem of our economy in general. The main problem is our exchange rate. Because we are a consuming nation, pump prices affects inflation in all facets of our economy, so once there is an increase in petroleum prices, the cost of everything - including cost of production of goods and services will jump. This will affect the exchange rate and the naira will slide against the dollar and other currencies, making nonsense of the subsidy and so the debate about subsidy will start all over again. This is the vicious cycle we have been experiencing for the past 20yrs. If the four refineries are working, the issue of subsidy will be reduced, since the crude is ours and there is virtually no transportation costs. Then why can't government subsidize the cost of crude (selling at far less than international price) to people who bought license to build refineries, at least for a minimum of five years. (most of the crude is stolen by government officials anyway, so even if the crude is given free to private refineries, we will all benefit) Why cant government control our borders? in this digital age, satellite technology has made these things easier. What is the benefits of the so called Nigerian satellites. If the government feels they are not ready to take any responsibility, then it should resign and allow someone who can run a government take over. |
@ OgaSir, You mean OBJ is now the operational officer of the SSS, DMI or the nigerian police. Oh, I forgot he is an agent of the CIA. how can Nigeria improve when some people ( most probably from the same ethnic stock) support every irrational action if its rulers. |
OBJ's visit to the family of the Boko haram leader is the Grave mistake by OBJ and by extension the FG. First you do not negotiate (publicly) with terrorists who have killed and. maimed thousands without justification. You only give the group legitimacy and encourage other group with grievances to take to terrorism. A member of the late Boko haram's leader cannot possibly be the next in command in the boko haram command structure (or he should have been arrested), so I do not understand what the negotiations with the family was meant to achieve. Thirdly and most importantly, the choice of OBJ would be seen as a slap on all Northern.leaders who have many well respected religious, political or societal leaders including former heads of state. Somebody like Gowon, Abdulsalami or even a respected traditional ruler. The north and their leaders do not trust or like ObJ, and besides he is neither a northerner nor a muslim and it was only a publicity stunt by OBJ. Northern leaders might now decide to jeopardize all efforts to resolve the problem (if they are not already part of the problem), in order to show their relevance and influence. |
My old friend MR olaadegun, never tied of turning facts upside down to support your beliefs. It is a known fact that animals and plants had been down sizing after the extinction of the dinosaurs. Examples are abound in fossil finds. |
It was possible Adam was up to 90 feet tall, afterall he lived close to a thousand years, he could be reducing in size the older he became until he got to about 6 feet. Since we no longer live to be a thousand years, we reduced in height to about 6 feet. |
Are you aware that Osama bin Laden was extra judicially with the consent of the US president. So an American president might one day ask for forgiveness from Alqaeda and compensate the family of osama |
In a system where justice is absent like Nigeria where people do not have confidence in the judicial process, then people resort to all type of quazi-judicial arrangements like jungle justice, Sharia, juju, etc. |
In Nigeria if you think you can get your rights by following peaceful means like going to court or even carrying out a peaceful protest, them you are wasting your time. It was the Ijaws that gave us that realization. When people like Ken saro wiwa was protesting the degradation and exploitation of their land peacefully, he was ignored and eventually killed. But the time they started unleashing violence on hapless citizens, they got more than they asked for. For example, when a common local government area was locate in an itsekiri area, they unleashed violence on the itsekiris, and the local government was quickly relocated to an Ijaw area. Then they took their agitation for resource control violent, and they were gifted the presidency on a platter of golf, even before the Igbos who had been fighting for it since independence. Now we have Boko Haram bombing and killing innocent civilians because their leader was murdered extra judicially by police officers (an everyday occurrence in nigeria, remember the Apo six, and the group gets a presidencial (representative) visit wih demand for N100million. Who will compensate all those killed by Boko haram? Lesson learnt; if you are aggrieved, kill, maim and if possible rapé innocent people and sharp sharp you will get what you want. |
President Jonathan is just bragging, maybe they want to create an avenue to chop. Nigeria cannot go nuclear in the foreseeable future because; 1. Nuclear Energy is very complicated and needs highly specialized skills that are not taught in any of our universities. 2. Nuclear power plants require serious maintenance. When we cannot maintain simple things like hydro electric plants, gas power plants (egbin has been down for ages), refineries, railway lines, airports, stadiums, and just about every other thing, how do we intend to maintain a nuclear power plant? 3. Where and how do we obtain the fuel necessary to run the power plant? do we start building centrifuges just like Iran is doing ( which can take up to 10 years to build and get the required uranium or we intend to buy from the western nations as the US is proposing for Iran. 4. How do we intend to disposed of spent fuels and other radioactive wastes? remember anything that comes in contact with the radioactive material is radioactive waste. ie water for cooling, oil, metals, and every thing else. 5. What is the cost benefit analysis when compared to just building gas plants, which is very easy to build and maintain and we have plenty of free gas that is wasting away. Why is it so hard to stop oil companies from flaring the gas? We Nigerians we love Ego trips, this might be the most costly so far. we have joined the space club courtesy of sat 1 or x now we want to join the nuclear club by force. |
@Aloy-Emeka, May God bless you for your wisdom, I know it was not revealed by man but by the spirit. I had been screaming for years that Eko Atlantis Project is a white mammoth project. The foreigners are consulting on the project just want to collect their cash and disappear. They will be here when disaster strikes. We African were known for working with nature and not at cross purpose to it. We jump into projects just because we see a similar project elsewhee and our elites wants to belong. Take a look at our wetlands, wetlands are supposed to be protection against flooding has been destroyed, thereby causing flooding like along the Lekki axis and Along ikorodu road before maijidun. |
The major problem is the militants are backing up the wrong tree, the mend leader is not being held by the FG. They should address their grievance to the south African government. Its is as stupid as asking the FG to release Ibori. |
@Alj_Harem, I lived very close to Bar Beach for 20years. I can chronicle how the Fg spends billions of naira every 2 to 3 on reclaimation of the beach. Just before Nigeria 99 the whole of the road that was erode was reconstructed within 2 weeks. The present embankment on Bar Beach had 60% contribution by the FG and the total cost was over 10billion dollars. |
I will not degenerate to your level of reasoning. Are you telling us that the Fg has unlimited resources to resolve all ecological issues in every state? Even ordinary problem of power, road maintenance and health care, the Fg would tell you that they do not have enough funds (after the exorbitant recurrent expenditure). My submission is that other states ecological issues should also be looked into instead of Lagos behaving as if its own issues are the most important. The ecological fund should be made effective and the FG should make contributions to each state while the state and private investors make up the rest, so that each state can try and resolve its ecological issues. After all the people that died in Ibadan are no less important that the people that died in the Lagos floods. |
@Chyz Sorry to bust your ego but a lot of Anioma people do not consider themselves Igbo' they prefer to identify with Niger Delta. Oil in Anioma! Where and in what quantity? The north also claim oil in Chad and other areas, it is all story story. |
I will say it again and again, every state in Nigeria has ecological issues and believ the Lagos issue is not the worst. To the coast lines of the niger delta the coastal erosion more serious than that of Lagos, and they do not scream about it, when there are bigger problems of oil pollution which the FG is not even ready to look into. |
@Chyz Why do you need anioma state? Because of a bomb blast you do not even remembers? And how do you propose to fund this state? From oil money from the Niger Delta? I really need answers to these questions. Before I forget, how will the Creation of anioma state benefit your people outside the politicians and their cronies? |
na wa o, so you did not know that militants bombed government house in Asaba on Nov 3, 2010. Where have you been? |
Why Lagos? Is it only Lagos that is being bedeviled by erosion? The whole southern coast line has serious erosion problems. What about dessert encroachment afflicting the northern states not to talk of gully erosion in the east. I think Lagos is behaving like a spoily kid out of 36, I lived close to bar beach for close to 20 years and p know the billions of Naira the FG spends every 3 years on bar beach just to reclaim the beach. Since the Lagos State government boasts that the Atlantic projectsl would protect the coastline from erosion, why do they need federal help. P think Lagos and Abuja feels all of Nigerias money should be spent on them to the detriment of other states. |
