Gov Akpabio Spends N1Bn to Commission Akwa-Ibom Stadium, Plots to Have Edifice Named After Him:

Investigations has revealed that the fan fare that came with the commissioning of the new Akwa Ibom International Stadium by President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, alongside the Presidents of Ghana and Ivory Coast, Gov Godswill Akpabio did not come so cheap.

The ceremony that came with the commissioning gulped N1 Billion from the coffers of the state treasury.

It is also gathered that the Governor, Godswill Akpabio has begun to hatch plot to get the stadium named after him so he will remain engraved in the hearts of Nigerians and the world, as long as the stadium remains in use.

According to our sources in the government, Akpabio has already pocketed the Speaker of the House of Assembly and his colleagues to pass a motion naming the Stadium ‘Godswill Akpabio International Stadium’, despite being named ‘Nest of Champions by Akpabio already. The motion for naming the Stadium was moved on 6th November 2014 and may sail through any moment.

Despite being celebrated, prominent indigenes have already began protesting against the governor for wasting close to N1 billion just to host the dignitaries that came, an amount they argued could have built schools as well as roads in the hinterlands. The Stadium though of international standard does not have swimming pool, indoor sporting hall, lawn tennis court and even practice courts as stadiums built with the amount of money he spent have.

She is not Lazarus but her story would shock you even more. In one of most amazing news of recent times, Ruby Graupera-Cassimiro, a Florida, United States 40-year-old mother, stopped breathing for 45 minutes after doctors tried to deliver her of a baby through cesarean section. She was practically dead.

According to techtimes.com, doctors performing the operation after trying unsuccessfully to bring her back to life, called on her family members to say their farewells. But just at that moment the unexpected happened – the blip of her heart beat began to show on a monitor. It is a miracle that continues to stun doctors.

“She went for almost an hour without a pulse and the resuscitation lasted almost three hours,” said Dr. Jordan Kanurr, the anesthesiologist who also led the resuscitation effort. “I’ve never seen anything like this. Neither have any of other anesthesiologists and other doctors I work with.”

The excited survivor, whose daughter was born healthy, says she is just savoring every new day.

“I remember feeling a force telling me ‘you’re not coming here, this is not your time. I was dead. My husband tells me, ‘you were gray. You were cold as ice, and you were dead. You had no colour in your lips’.

“To me this is humbling. The doctors call it a miracle and that they do not have an explanation,” she said.

Kanurr said the medical team realized something was wrong when Graupera-Cassimiro lost consciousness shortly after the birth. Resuscitation efforts began immediately and continued until doctors felt there was no hope left.

“Just before I did that, she began to have a rhythm. To keep it simple I believe this is truly a miracle. Her survival is a double miracle because she had no brain damage despite going for so long without a pulse,” he said.

Graupera-Cassimiro remembers nothing that happened after her daughter was born. But her 21-year-old niece, Crystal Santos, said family members gathered to say goodbye.

“They said they were going to have to call a time of death, that it had been almost 45 minutes and that they normally don’t go that long on a code,” Santos said. “My grandmother was crying and begging for God to take her instead.”

Moments later, a blip was heard on the heart monitor.

“There were at least 15 people in that room working on her and they all started crying. They told us they had never seen anything like that,” Santos said.

Although several weeks have passed, she said she still feels like she was watching herself in a video and that the entire experience seems unreal. After the near-death experience, time with her husband, seven-year-old son and infant daughter is even more precious, she said.

“Now we are just savoring the moments. Every day is a gift,” she said.

PoliticsGov. Akpabio Names New Ssg by Wisdytech(op): 1:01pm On Nov 17, 2014
Governor Godswill Akpabio has announced the appointment of new Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government.

He is Engr. Nkereuwem Ekanem, immediate past Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Uyo. He replaces Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel who resigned his appointment last month to contest for the Governorship position under the platform of PDP in the State.

Engr. Nkereuwem, who is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a holder of M.Sc. in Engineering from United Kingdom, hails from Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

Governor Godswill Akpabio who announced the appointment Saturday at the St. John Chaplaincy at Government House, Uyo during the Government House Prayer meeting, said the new SSG would be sworn-in next week, saying there have been a series of promotions in the State as reflection of presence of God in all affairs of the State including the successful commissioning of life-touching projects.

He described the inauguration of Akwa Ibom State International Stadium, Uyo as spectacular and a sight to behold, and added that God was at work at the ceremony attended by three Presidents of West African States.

The Governor who condemned media reports that there was a stampede that led to death of two persons during the inauguration of the Stadium, described as uncalled for the editorial of a national newspaper for a probe of the incidence, saying there was no stampede at all.

Akpabio who took the first Bible reading from Exodus 14:10-16, commended the clergymen in the State for their prayers, which he said have been a source of inspiration for him.

In his homily, the Rev Dr. John Obot of Assemblies of God, Uyo who preached on the theme, God will make a way for you, said when God made promise, He would bring it to pass.

Dr. Obot who said God is always alive to make a way for His people, called on believers to pay the sacrifice of obeying leaders from God, stressing that there can never be two leaders at a given moment for a group of people.

SportsMancini Appointed As New Inter Coach by Wisdytech(op): 8:02pm On Nov 14, 2014
The Italian returns to the San Siro for his second spell with the Nerazzurri after Walter Mazzarri was sacked on Friday morning:

Roberto Mancini has been named as the new coach of Inter, returning to the club for his second spell in charge.

The Nerazzurri sacked Walter Mazzarri on Friday after a poor start to the season and have brought the former Manchester City boss in to replace him.

Mancini, who won three consecutive Serie A titles as Inter boss between 2004 and 2008, has been confirmed as the new coach of the 2010 Champions League winners.

"F.C. Internazionale is pleased to announce that Roberto Mancini is the new first-team head coach. He will begin coaching duties on Saturday," a statement read on their official website.

Club president Erick Thohir has expressed his delight in appointing the 49-year-old, who has coached Manchester City and Galatasaray since leaving San Siro.

Thohir believes he is the right man to take them back to the pinnacle of Italian and European football.

"Our goal is to regain our rightful position as one of the very top clubs in Europe and that's why I am so happy to welcome back Roberto Mancini," he said.

"His track record both at Inter and elsewhere speaks for itself, and his international experience and hunger for success will drive the team to the next level."

Mancini won seven trophies in total in his first stint at San Siro, including two Coppe Italia.
