Politics / Re: OBJ Admits Withdrawal Of $17.2 Million For Census by wiseguy(m): 2:01pm On Jun 09, 2006
I dont know what the problem is?
So many other papers reported it and the govt have not refuted it. You can be sure if he didn't say it the govt would have reacted by denying it.
Politics / Re: Obasanjo's Admission Of Failure On Electricity (NEPA) by wiseguy(m): 1:42pm On Jun 09, 2006
twinstaiye:

OBJ then take a drastic action by building another rifineries which is what we are enjoying today.

Did he really do that? Please where is the new refinery located? can someone else substantiate this claim. It seems am no longer living in this country. Because I know we still import a large percentage of refined crude and no new refinery have been built by OBJ. The only new refinery that is being built is the Orient Petroleum in Awka which is a private initiative. I stand to be corrected.

twinstaiye:

by the time his efforts materialise, NEPA will have been producing over 10,000 MW of electricity more than
2,000MW that we need in this country.
No. we actually need about 10,000 MW and not 2,000 MW. As at now we produce less than we need.

twinstaiye:

His admission that all his efforts to make sure power is stable is to let us know that, he had tried his best.

I agree with you. He has done his best and should be commended to some degree. I actually fell out of favour with him during the third term debacle. But, in all, he has tried.

Politics / Re: Creation Of A New Ethnic Group by wiseguy(m): 11:24am On Jun 09, 2006
What am saying is that we need a unique language.  A language that all Nigerians can understand and speak fluently. It must not be pidgin but I doudt if there's any common language that serve that purpose for nigerians except pidgin and we must not call it pidgin. we can call it naija for example.

Again there are numerous differences b/w American and standard english. I accept that they are very close but we dont need anything like that. After all, pidgin too has some concoctions of standard english. we must not do it to please anybody or country. It is about what will be convenient for Nigerians and not what we please any other country or UN. I doudt if any country that adopted their language consulted Nigeria b4 doing so.
Politics / Re: Creation Of A New Ethnic Group by wiseguy(m): 10:57am On Jun 09, 2006
No way. We dont need to erode our culture and values to achieve oneness. What we need to do is to adopt a common lingua franca like pidgin english or any other one that almost every body understands . After all, France, China, russia and most other countries still speak their language even in diplomatic circles. Why can't we project a common language like pidgin english just like US projected their own type of english. But again in all, any country that neglects its root is dead. If you dont know where you are going, atleast know where you are coming from.

Has the VP been indicted? We are not in the stone age man. This has been in the public domain before now and most Nigerians know the details of the story. I am very sure if the VP has a hand in the deal, OBJ and EFCC would have blown it to high heavens.

Cool down man.

I think the frist thing will be for the Niger delta youths to take their leaders to task. in as much as we all agree that the Nigerian state has treated them unfairly, they should ask their Govs and representatives what they have done with what they have collected from the Federal Govt so far.

With all the 13% being allocated to each of the Niger Delta states, there is nothing to show for it. Nothing is happening in Delta state. no development whatsoever. Odili is busy buying airplanes and Peugeot 306 to run taxi (which many pple who bought have turned it to private cars anyway) and turning the Rivers Govt house into second Aso Rock (men, u need to see the new govt house. money enter there boo. maybe the man tot he will spend 3rd term there). Is it in Bayelsa, after all the money stolen by the former gov, I wonder what will be left. Infact among all the 9 Niger Delta states, it is only cross river (in my opinion) that seems to have anything going on for them. So I believe the Niger Delta pple are their own enemies. Their leaders are cheats and crooks. They deceive the illiterate youths and force them into violence while they go at the back to support govt and collect money. the ND youths should first identify these corrupt leaders in their domain and deal with them before turning to the fed govt. Someone whose house is on fire do not chase rats. The govs should show what they have done with what they have collected so far. 13% allocation might be small but what have they done with it?

Excuse me! Hold it there guys. What! how dare you compare? what is it to be compared please? is it the originality, the video, acting, music, directing or the technology? what is to be compared? Nollywood is at best to be called jujuwood as if all our life depends on Juju. Nothing else. You hardly watch up to 3 Nigerian films without any one having a juju connection. The only deviation is when Ramsey noah or Emeka Ike is falling in love with any of the gals or when kanayo is looking for someone's wife to sleep with. That's all. That is Nollywood for U.

@killerweed,
no be by force now. its a free world. if you can't take the angle the discussion is taking, you stop posting.Just take a look at your post again and tell me what example you've shown to the " the church, pastors and Christian HATERS"

Again, this forum was started by Seun and he is running it the way he likes best and if you dont like it, the best you can do is to ignore the forum or start yours and invite us to become members.

A forum is such that pple are allowed to express their opinion for or against any topic and if you feel the views are one-sided, ther'es really nothing you can do about it because it remains the member's views. At best you can attack or conquer theirs with your own strong arguments. Seun is the forum moderator and also a member and has the right to air his own views too like any other member. We must not cajole or coarse someone to our own way of life. we must not all act or think alike and that is what makes us human beings- The ability to use our free will and make our individual decisions.

For the "believers" in pastors, we must learn to tolerate other ppl's views. forget all this "touch not mine annointed" stuff, it doesn't have any meaning to most people. Any charllatan can be annointed by whoever except God. We should not use the name of God to intimidate pple into submission and fear. In all my years of working and doing business, I have come across so many pastors who I have done business with and 96% of them are cheats, liars and no more than Devil incarnates. Some have even attempted to dupe me. Is it just about me? No. some of my friends have similar stories to tell. I am not just talking about all these "Batcher" pastors, I mean well established pastors that lead large congregations. But that does not make me against them after all my elder brother is one of them but I treat him strictly as a Brother and fellow human being and not as a Pastor and that same way I treat other pastors especially when it comes to business. We should take it easy the way we "worship" these pastors. Not all of them practice what they preach.

Politics / Re: Is The June 12 (1993) Presidential Election Forgotten? by wiseguy(m): 4:25pm On Jun 06, 2006
No Sir! I have not forgotten. This is the most freest and fairest election in the history of this country. An election where Igbos, hausas and yourubas voted for one man without looking at his ethinic origin or religion. That was the only election I have ever participated in my life in this country. The 99 and 2003 election was too violent for me to even step out of my house not to talk of getting close to the polling booth.

I pray God to forgive us and give us that kind of election again and option A4 remains the best for this country for now.
Religion / Re: Pastor Chris Floats Airline, TV Station & Fast Food Outlet by wiseguy(m): 11:28am On Jun 06, 2006
Yes. The business will provide jobs and all but we still need to know and make sure that the source of money is genuine. That someone calls himself a "man of God" does not make him so. Some "men of God" are worse than our Politicians.

We have the right to ask questions. Some might even be involved in drug trafficking, money laundering and the rest because they know they wont be easily suspected or checked.

For the person who says the airline run by church will be safer simply because it is owned by church and they will make sure all safety regulations are adhered to. It may interest you to know that most of the employees of all these other airlines are members of one church or the other. Even the owners of the airlines have churches they attend. They go to church on Sunday, they pay their tithes and they come back to their offices to do the wrong things and cut corners. We have even heard in this country of someone who stole from his company to give to his church and bought Generator for the church.  So it is our personal attitude towards our work that should change. Whether the church manages the business or not, the personal attitude of the individuals who work in such a firm counts.
Celebrities / Re: Oprah Discriminates Against Rappers! by wiseguy(m): 11:39am On Jun 02, 2006
I love Oprah a million times. She is not obliged to invite any tout to her show. They can start their own show. They should please leave my Baby alone. Do they think by singing all those bullshit and parading naked women they have done a lot for the society and deserve an award from Oprah? Shame on them!

I am still a young man but old at heart. I was trained to appreciate good music not raps. Never! People should listen more to good and vibrant music. I love the music of Luther Vandross, Babyface, Diane Warwick, James Ingram and some of the old R&B's. But above all I love the classicals because it takes me back to where I belong. The Beethovens, Mozart, Bach, Hayden, Tchaikovsky etc.

Please Leave Oprah alone. She is more concerned with the positivity of the Black race rather than the negativity which these rappers project. God bless her.
Politics / 'The President We Want' - Reuben Abati by wiseguy(m): 9:17am On Jun 02, 2006
Come 2007 insha Allah, Nigeria will have a new President. We've had Presidents and Head of States in the Past but none seem to have met the peolple's expectations. What qualities do you wish to see in a future President come 2007?

Do you also think that the recent selection process being embarked upon by Governors are healthy for our Democratic system? Is it not the right of the people to choose? Why should the Govs now present to us a candidate? The same Govs who few weeks ago are singing 3rd term for Obasanjo want to be President? Are these kind of characters to be trusted with the high office of the President? I bet they will be worse than Obasanjo.

As I was meditating on this topic, I saw an article in the Guardian written by Reuben Abati in line with this discussion and I would want us to take a look and lets have your reaction.

The president we want

Beyond the more complex and controversial issues of ethnicity and electoral framework, we are left on the long run with having to decide who our next President should be. What kind of qualities should he possess?

Hell No! You can say am naive or backward. I dont care. I would never sign any contract with my would be wife. That is no marriage. Helloooooo pple! How can we call such Marriage? It is no marriage. At best its just a business agreement b/w a man and a woman or b/w specimen A and specimen B. Period! They just want to test the waters and experiment with themselves.

LET US NOT DESECRATE THE MARRIAGE INSTITUTION PLEASE.

Forget the celebrities. I hate them and I dont think they know I exist so the feeling is perfectly mutual anyway. But when we are discussing in the forum it is best we take our standard from people who are doing it as it supposed to be done and not people who see marriage as if they are signing a new contract for their football clubs, with a music recording firm or to appear in a new movie. That is how the celebs see marriage. I pity them. They are actually missing something. Excuse me ooo Abeg!
Politics / Re: Senate Throws Out Third Term Amendment Bill by wiseguy(m): 12:39pm On May 17, 2006
Most believe OBJ have done well but I believe that this third term thing was brought up by pple who dont wish him well. I believe that term limit is an essential ingredient of democracy and any democrat as OBJ claims to be should respect that no matter what.

What I expected OBJ to do is to groom any of the young technocrat around him to take over if he's afraid that the present politicians, including his vice will destroy his achievements. All these energy on 3rd term will instead be spent on selling this chosen person to the electorate. Because at the end of the day, it "should" be the choice of the peolple. Otherwise if he's given extra tenure and he goes on to achieve more things during that tenure. he will now ask us to give him life presidency so that nobody comes in to destroy all the goodies. And will that mean if he is no more, Nigeria will cease to exist. God forbid! Where is Abacha today? Is Nigeria not existing? Incidentally it is the same Ojo Maduekwe's and the Anenihs that, were telling us then that it is only Abacha that the cap fits, are the ones pushing OBJ today. Most of them threatened to go on exile then if not Abacha but they are still here today still trying to bring confusion to the country.

OBJ is not perfect but he has done his bit. Its time to retire. He should play a statesman role for NIgeria, Africa and the world just like Nelson Mandela is doing now.

So I see what happened in the senate as a victory for OBJ in particular so he can atleast retire to his farm with respect and every sense of accomplishement. And he should be wary of the Mantu's and Anenihs. These men are no good.

The future of Nigeria is secure in the hands of The Almighty. OBJ should not worry (that is, if there is no skeleton in his cupboard).

This is the greatest dividend of democracy to come from the senate. But the fight has just begun. We have to make sure whoever succeeds OBJ is a Leader and not a ruler.
Politics / Re: Pat Utomi For President In 2007? by wiseguy(m): 5:48pm On May 12, 2006
For those who are saying Pat can't do it. So who will? OBJ, Mantu, Atiku, Anenih, Ali? who? We all complain we don't have good leaders but when they try to come out instead of encouraging them we try to rubbish them. Instead of all this political thieves, I will always support a Pat Utomi, Chris Okotie, Emeka Anyioku, Dora Akunyili and the rest of them.

Vote for PATITO!

Health / Re: My HIV Test Result by wiseguy(m): 2:43pm On May 12, 2006
Well, i did the test against my will in Dec. of 2002 when I was sick. I was hospitalised and after two weeks, my condition was getting worse than it was. All the test that was done pointed to Typhoid fever. I took all manner of medication in the hospital but to no avail. Then the "son of a bitch" of a doctor came one evening to take a sample of my blood for another test and after giving it to a nurse who ran off as if I was going to chase after her the Doctor dropped the bomb. "My friend, you know, we have done what we could and you don't seem to respond to treatment. We don't have any much option than to test your blood for HIV". I shouted "what?". My mind flew from Jericho to Jakarta. All the babes I've known and all the barbing salon I visited. For almost 16 agonising hours on the hospital bed, the result came back. Haba! I almost killed the Doctor. he started by toying with me. "Well, young man. I want you to be very brave concerning what am about to tell you. the result of your test is out (by then I was in bermuda Triangle) and it shows  that maybe we are doing something wrong. We will change drugs for you". And he dropped the result on my laps and got up laughing. Wow! it was negative but I noticed my pants was wet.
