If one should advise you to convert "some" of your naira to dollar. It's a possible investment choice which one could explore due to the current situation of things.

I ask this question, what happens if Naira goes back to N380 in December?

I still don't see why someone earning in naira needs to convert to Dollar. What are you trying to achieve especially if you still need to convert the money back to naira to use.

Good question you asked.... I thought same in 2014-2015 and felt foriegn investors rushing to leave the country then at black market rates were being overly fearful. Perhaps they saw something I didn't...

There's an associated risk with every decision.. that's why one doesn't test the depth of a river with both feet... The naira might appreciate to 380 by December..same also it can depreciate to 550 by December...

The good thing with the naira/usd is that we have over 40 years of data to look at... In investing, I appreciate trends... Whether it was during IBB, Abacha, Jonathan or Buhari, at no time over the last 40 years has there been a significant gap between official and black market rates that the naira did not continue to devalue... As a matter of fact, the only periods the naira appreciated against the dollar were periods when the rates merged...

It was when I saw this and knew that its almost impossible for the naira to appreciate while having two rates with a 20% difference that I made my decision....
My plan is simple, as far as the CBN maintains this dual rates (which they are keen on doing for now), I'd hold a significant amount of my savings in usd and try to lock ip the rest in local assets (not just leave it in the bank). Whenever both rates merge, I'd cautiously move back into the naira and invest.

I don't have access to cheap dollars and I don't run a business where I easily can pass costs on to consumers. So I have to protect myself for the future.

The annoying thing is that the two main issues affecting our economy today (fuel and dollar subsidy) are based on same pattern.

About 5-6 years back, Sanusi said he could manufacture millions of naira just by making a ohone call and getting cheap dollars... Of course, alot of people have been doing that hence the persistent pressure on the naira....

I'd say with good confidence that over 50% of dollars got at the official rate is round-triped back to sell at over 20% instant profit and that cycle keeps repeating.... Folks are wondering why the Naira continues to slide.......

Folks at CBN are fully perpetuating this but yet they keep coming to convince us that dangote refinery will solve this...
These same folks would come and preach patriotism to the masses they impoverished after stashing stashing sums in foriegn currencies and tell us that it's rice causing the naira to slide

Trading is good but if you can by all means HODL.

The crypto-sphere is a relatively new market that is gaining acceptability and utility exponentially. You can never go wrong going long and saving yourself from being REKT while trading.

The mass adoption of crypto is fueling her value rapidly. And I am pretty certain this is just the beginning of the surge.

In the past 6months to date -
BTC has done > 540% increase.
ETH > 1,230% increase.

Presently about 106 million of the world population use crypto. This is a tiny fraction compared to the acceptance and utility of the internet in the 90’s that saw the figure grow to around 4.72 billion (and still growing).

See it as a longterm investment and not a get-rich-quick thing.

If you must trade (maybe to take advantage of the reoccurring volatility) then do so with say 30% of your wallet value.

IMO, Power BI is Python and Excel combined, apart from ML.

initially I learnt PBI using Kiril Eremenko's course on Udemy, he only treated visualisation, in 3days I was done and I felt like what's the hype about PBI since its only Drag and drop... lol
I went back learning python till I was comfortable.

I was making research, then i discovered I could do more with PBI. I went back and got another video on udemy like 5gig content.
mehn this guy broke down PBI in and out.

basically PBI is divided into 3parts, visualisation, Power Query and DAX... with Power query, you can manipulate and query data to taste.
with DAX, you can carry out any data analysis calculation(This is deep).
Formally, when I wanted to do any anything involving datetime analysis and Forecast, I would use Statsmodel's ARIMA in Python, and that could take average of 10lines of serious Code, when I came across PBI, I could forecast with 3-4 clicks... mehn I was stunned.
most people don't know that one can Webscrape with PBI, you can do allota wonders with that monster package.

I would advice everyone to take full advantage of it if you really wanna go deep in Data Analytics.
