I don't know who would be declared winner eventually, but with all the machinations that went on for months, leading up to the show of shame that was saturdays' elections (particularly the disenfranchisement of millions of Igbos both within and outside the south-east) anyone that actually believed votes of the electorate would count on the day is at best quite naive!

Alternatively, ask for the amendment of said constitution or disintegration of the country....anything else would amount to speaking from both sides of the mouth!

This is always what i've told kinsfolk who naively believe in 'one Nigeria'! The constitution says you have equal stake in any part of Nigeria....especially a part developed by the commonwealth of all Nigerians! The constitution says you can vote and be voted for in any part of Nigeria....especially a part that has been caused (by omission or commission) to be the only industrial and commercial capital of the entire country!

We all know what the constitution says, and Igbos act based on what it says, yet someone that sees himself as a godfather believes Ndigbo are a threat to his hegemonic control of a particular state, and based on this belief goes on to bribe his thugs on the street to arrange disruption of voting in areas largely populated by Igbos! Bullion vans were seen arriving at his house, yet nobody is asking any questions as to where he got the money from or what he intends to do with raw cash on the eve of an election!

Sincere and honest people know that we just can't continue like this and that something has to give! If you don't want the disintegration of the 'one Nigeria' experiment, then you just have to abide by its constitution (as faulty as it may be), and if you feel it threatens the existence of your people as presently written, then the next thing is to move for its amendment. You could ask for an amendment in which it would state that only a certain ethnic group indigenous to a state or region are allowed to vote and seek elective office in said state or region! If by some miracle you manage to get the national assembly to approve it, you'd then be backed by law when seeking to deny 'visitors' in your region or state the right to vote and be voted for! But as things stand today, and if we want to be sincere with ourselves, the fact remains that Ndigbo have the right to vote and be voted for in Lagos. This is a pill (as bitter as it may be for you to swallow) that you just have to accept!
