I believe that the wind of change that will lead to the rebirth of the ancient Yoruba religion has started.
The ancient Yoruba is a monotheistic society that never fought anyone to practice a universal religion.
What the fathers does of old is so that "kilu Tuba Kotu se." That the land might appease the father and that comfort might triumph.
It's not just ilu that needs comfort, individuals too. So they have their rituals as the religion or their choice demands.
This is Isese, and it's not idolatry but a search for God through the ways of the founding ancestors.
Noah was an ancestor, after descending from the ark, he offered sacrifice to God of creation. How about Cain and Abel? And Abraham?
Paul enjoined the Christian to offer their lives as living sacrifice to God. The meaning of redemptive death of Christ is that we don't need to offer sacrifice to God any more.
Religion should be a relief for mankind, something that brings sequential comfort. If that's absent in any religion, it's a cult and another bondage.
mojounited: Op, I want to believe you intend using this sensational headline to gain more views and comments.
Correction: Israel never dropped the dollar outrightly; it just added Chinese yuan to diversify its foreign reserves, while reducing or lowering the amount of dollars.
Canadian, Japanese and Australian currencies were also added.
It is however true that a lot of other countries may opt to diversify their foreign reserves from dollars (not dump it outrightly) since the US has weaponised the dollar
SLIDEwaxie: I like them for olosho work. You genetically goes into a rage mode banging a heavily tattooed guy. It's like a tradition.
But for a wife, God forbid
My wife can actually get a tattoo if we're married. Maybe a small butterfly at the laps or waist, where of course, it is only accessible to me, while naked.
You dig?
The first paragraph cracked me up. LMAO...
I say "true that" for the last paragraph of yours. As a lover of all kinds of art works, discrete tiny tats all the way on any woman like I earlier posted here.
Nelson21: I saw this on X today. Is it true or false? Also, to the married folks, if your wife suddenly gets a tattoo, how will you react?
I like very tiny tatoos that have meanings on any woman NOT the exaggerated and loud kinda tats inked on the skins of those young women in the pictures attached on page one of this thread.
Tiny Sanskrit or Chinese-worded tats located on the wrists, upper arms, lower and upper legs, and upper backs for instance look good on women. Less is more!
Ann-Marie Imafidon is the oldest child of the Imafidons. This young woman who is now 28 year old is incredibly talented. Ann-Marie who started her schooling at St Saviour Church of England Primary School in Walthamstow, London, was already speaking six languages by the tender age of 10.
Ann-Marie went on to become the youngest girl ever to pass A-level computing at the young age of 13.
At the same age of 13, the young girl won a British Government scholarship to study mathematics at the very prestigious Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA.
When she turned 15 years old, Ann-Marie gained admission to study for a degree program at the University of Oxford. Two years later at age 17, she had already started a master’s degree at Oxford.
In 2010, when she was just 19 years old, Ann-Marie became the youngest person ever to graduate with a masters degree.
Because of her incredible success in academies, Ann-Marie was described as a “serial world record breaker” by the ‘Higher Education Digest’ in it’s September 2011 edition.
Today, the young woman is doing very well for herself. In 2013, she launched and became the CEO of Stemettes. Stemettes is an outfit that is championing the work and participation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering And Mathematics).
For her work, Ann-Marie has been recognized by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, MBE.
7lives: Government should add # 5,000,000 fine for defamation. All those aproko forming bloggers go find better work do. Bunch of swines, numbskulls.
I completely agree with you here bruv.
Even the members of the Japanese parliament as of 2022 have introduced tougher jail times and higher monetary fines for cyber bullying due to the death of a famous female Japanese actress.
The punishment for online defamation in this case isn't stiff enough, and the option of fine is too low and will not help to curb extremely criminal cases of online defamation and deliberate spread of misinformation online and offline. Period.
uche87: Let me start this piece with a common saying on social media. If you are in the habit of complaining people are stingy, it might be an indication that you are begging too much. Well, much has been said about people in the United Kingdom being tight-fisted. To a large extent, I am of the opinion that this is true and could be attributed to some of the reasons explained below:
(1) Culture: The United Kingdom just like most Western countries has embraced individualism. The system of every man for himself. In Africa, it is collectivism which simply means 'Let's do it as a family, let's grow together' You will hardly see the core Britons help each other financially. They will rather rely on credit facilities from banks, credit cards, and benefits to survive tough financial times. This is unlike Nigeria where 'billing' is almost cultural in the 21st century due to age-long systemic poverty.
(2) Littany of lies: Some Nigerians are in the business of cooking up comprehensive and water-tight lies to extort money from their family members abroad. Personally, I have friends who have abandoned their WhatsApp accounts to avoid hearing countless touching stories from friends and acquaintances in Nigeria. To cope with the virus of lies, people in the UK have adopted a firewall to block all intrusions.
(3) Hustle is hard: Life in the UK is historically difficult, and in recent times, things have gotten tougher for the 6th largest economy in the world due to the growing population, Brexit, COVID-19, and other issues. People work round the clock, under extreme weather conditions, to earn money and the cost of living is too high. As of 2020/2021, employees were chasing people for jobs. Two years later, the reserve is the case, even in the blue-collar jobs industry. So every penny counts. You don't want to make money only to play a Father Christmas to someone whose financial challenges might not be genuine.
(4) Taxes: This topic doesn't require much explanation as this is a paramount issue in the UK. Any sort of comfort you enjoy in the country is taxed. It runs a service-based economy. I have seen people earn about £3,000 gross salary in a month and get a net pay of £2,300. Income tax, National Insurance, and pension deductions took about £750 which is more than the salary of a successful person in Nigeria. Rent, council tax, loan repayment, vehicle insurance, and others would further beat your take-home pay until it struggles to take you home in the end.
(5) Personality traits Some people are naturally stingy. In fact, they even struggle to spend their own money on themselves. It appears they might be of the belief that the funds could be taken with them to the great beyond. I have a friend who has no record of helping anybody in the history of his life and he has no plan to turn a new leaf. People like these come to the UK and become hardened in the area of stinginess.
(6) People are broke: If poverty in the world is being measured by raw cash and not access to food, the UK might be one of the poorest countries in Europe. Most people have to overwork, to the detriment of their health to make extra bucks. This is why some locals see the paper chase as a rat race and they prefer to stay unemployed and focus on benefits from the government. Furthermore, the housing crisis in the UK is real. As a family man, 70% of your monthly earnings easily go into accommodation costs. This makes life mentally stressful and frustrating. Anyone looking from the outside is easily deceived by the glossy pictures, nice clothes, and lovely locations they see on social media. This set of people constitutes the 'God When Squad' - a popular faction in the Nigerian social media space.

fergie001: Coker-Odusote served as Special Adviser on Technology to then Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu
She had also previously worked in the United Kingdom and Nigeria with 15 years experience across technology, real estate/construction,oil and gas, finance, media and advertising industries.
A former Head, IT and Communications @ Bate Liwin, she also chaired the APC National Database as Project Director.
She was appointed Director-General of the Lagos State Infrastructural Maintenance and Regulatory agency by Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2021.
Ttalk: When we are talking about nepotism in Nigeria, the region that should not put mouth is SE.
We remember what happened during ZIk era, fast-forward to 2015 when Igbo hijacked Jonathan government and started mocking Yoruba on Nairaland. The posts are still here for everyone to see.
So, Nna mechionu
Indeed!
The trolling Ibos here on NL are suffering from selective amnesia and the worse kind of DISHONESTY in living memory.
delpee: That happened under Zik and Ironsi. I look forward to the day we'll all learn to downplay ethnic sentiments and be fair to everyone. The good thing about Nigeria is that you can find the right candidate from every region if only we want to be fair.
Nicely put. For those of us with a sense of history, it is well documented that in the 1st Republic of the early 1960s, and after the first military coup in Nigeria, the Ibos greedily packed themselves into sensity government positions with the intent to dominate others and to the detriment of other ethnities.
Now a bunch of notorious creeps and ethnic bigots of Ibo origin are posting criminal and highly misleading information on this NL thread and elsewhere by deliberately trying to create discontent and resentment toward the Yoruba nation.
The original article headline is very misleading because it was 2 people that got appointments... Coker-Odusote and the Northern man.
Cc:@ ednut1 I read your post on this topic, you overanalyzed this issue because 2 peple were appointed and the Ibo ethnic bigots here are defaming and insidiously focussing only on appoint of the Yoruba ethnicity of Coker-Odusote, and not on the Northerner.
SIRTee15: If I take u on the nonsense u just vomited, u wont survive the scrutiny. Go to religious section and see how your ignorant kinds have been demolished with facts upon facts. Even the extremes of bible critics admit Jesus was a real historical figure.
You know absolutely nothing about historical events here my bruv. I'm NOT here to engage in any religious rabble rousing here.
I've been on this for over 40 years of real studies on comparative religion before the rise of the Internet. I have tons of books in my home library on these facts that have been in the public domain for over 100 years. So I'm NOT just starting out. The Internet is also bringing out some of what some of us long read in books that were in the public domain for over 40 years now.
I would NOT have responded to you because you were quite rude instead of engaging in mature convo. I checked your profile and decided to respond. Be open and engage in convos based on what you see and read.
Truthday: It is somewhat surprising that Nigerian Christians, and even a newspaper like Punch, are surprised that there is a mosque named after Mary, the mother of Christ, in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Those asking Nigerian Muslims to learn from Dubai, are actually the ones who should learn from Nigerian Muslims. They are relatively ignorant of Islam.
The most Islamic state in Nigeria is Sokoto. And one of the most common names in that seat of the Islamic Caliphate is actually the name of Christ. Isa is not a Hausa name. Isa, or Yisa, or Issa, is the Arabic version of Yeshua in Hebrew and Jesus in Greek.
So revered is the name in Sokoto that a Local Government Area is named after Him-Isa Local Government Area, Sokoto.
As a matter of fact, you cannot be a true Muslim if you do not believe that God sent Christ.
When prophet Muhammad, Salla Allahu alayhi Wasalaam, had his first revelation of the Quran, he went with his wife, Khadijah, to consult a man named Waraqah ibn Nawfal. Waraqah was a monotheistic Christian, who revered Maryam (Mary).
When the Quraysh wanted to kill prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the first Muslims, the Muslims escaped to the Christian nation of Ethiopia, where they were protected by the Negus, which was the first hijrah before the hijrah to Medina.
Christ is mentioned by name in the Quran more times than anybody except prophet Muhammad (SAW), and his mother, Maryam, of whom the Dubai mosque is named, is the only woman mentioned BY NAME in the Quran. (Other women were mentioned but not by name).
So, if Al-Quran mentions Maryam, why is it surprising that a mosque is adorned with her name?
Christ Himself is described in the Quran as Al-Masihu Isa (Yeshua The Messiah) in Quran 4.157, 4.171.
So, it is only people unfamiliar with Islam in general, and with Islam as practiced in Nigeria, that will marvel at the Dubai mosque named after Maryam (Mary).
How can you ask Nigerian Muslims, who named a whole Local Government after Yeshua (Jesus), to learn from Dubai, because they named a mosque after Maryam (Mary). Who should learn tolerance from who?

These are spin-offs of the ancient pagan worship of the Sun God [Sol Invictus]. Know this and have everlasting peace. The so-called 2 religions are knock-offs of the ancient worship of the sun and moon.
Paganism has indeed won the battle but most of the ignorant adherants don't know this. The clergy know these facts and this is why they don't want questions to be asked so that their schemes do not unravel. But fortunately, there are millions of enlightened folks too know these FACTS of history. Period.
