I never knew that the standards for measuring success in Christianity were money, land, buildings and airplanes.
Based on these standards, one can infer that Jesus and his disciples were failures...

5% given to the poor and 95% for who... is that what Jesus did?

Are we preaching/propagating Jesus or “men of god”

Let he that thinketh he stand take heed.

We need to understand that Jesus’s words in Matt 23:23 were spoken when ‘the Law’ was still in effect (a testament doesn’t take effect until the death of the testator Heb 9:16-17)... thus in Matt 23:23, Jesus asked the Pharisees to give tithe and also referred to ‘the Law’ as a weightier matter however after the death of the testator (Jesus), the law and tithing passed away...

If Adeboye wants to use Matt 23:23 to justify tithing then he should remember that the same verse called ‘the Law’ a weightier matter so he should preach the Law more vigorously than tithing since it is weightier.

where you hear say US war college is equivalent to graduate school?
no go put your head into matter wey you no know ooo!

Lady, you need to do some research of your own before commenting........

Yes, war-fighting is taught at the US War College (and other War or Defence Colleges worldwide) however, this is war-fighting at the strategic level or highest level that is why the students or participants are Colonels and Generals. Thus students here are not taught to shoot guns or tanks, soldiers and junior officers are taught to do that.

Rather, in the War College, subjects taught and exercised include leadership, man management, logistic and chain supply management, project management, strategic communication, strategic war-planning, policy formulation and implementation and so on. Consequently, this course is equivalent to Masters Degree in leadership or strategic studies depending on the affiliated university.

In Nigeria, the National War College now National Defence College is equivalent to the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and affiliated to the University of Ibadan which awards successful participants a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies on submission of a thesis.

If you have an idea what this course entails, you would recommend it for every person seeking for public office.

My sister is a medical doctor and the following is her employment story.....

She finished Medical School before the turn of this decade and didn't get a job for 13 months because all the private hospitals she applied to offered to pay her N30k to N70k monthly. This was unacceptable to her, so she applied for and got a bank job that was to pay her N130k monthly. However, shortly before resuming at the bank, she got an offer for a temporary job at a Government Medical Centre for N100k monthly. She decided to take the govt job so she could practice and after working there for about a year her employment was regularized at the Ministry in Abuja and her pay increased to N200k+ including other benefits.

My problem is WHY DO DOCTORS HOLD THE GOVT AND PATIENTS TO RANSOM TO BETTER A GOOD PAY PACKAGE WHILE PAYING DOCTORS THEY EMPLOY PEANUTS?

WHY DOESN'T THE NMA GO ON STRIKE TO ENSURE THAT DOCTORS EMPLOYED IN PRIVATE HOSPITALS ARE PAID AS WELL AS DOCTORS EMPLOYED BY THE GOVERNMENT?

Can any Doctor in the house please help answer the above?

Sir, based on your observation it is obvious that the only issue you have with what I wrote is the word FIRST

Thank you for acknowledging your mistake but the word "first" is not the only issue I have..... But like most pastors today you have conveniently avoided earlier instructions in Deut 12 and Deut 14 that clearly state that TITHE is meant to be EATEN and not PAID, and you deceitfully claimed that the first instructions on tithing is in Deut 26. So my only issue with you is that you should stop being deceitful.

Tithing is meant to be brought to the priest, blessed by the priest, eaten by the congregation and the rest stored in the temple for those in need ..... Read through Deut 12, Deut 14, Deut 26 ....even to Acts 4:32-37...

Tithe is not for you and your General Overseer to spend as you like, STOP BEING DECEITFUL.

This is, of course, the most familiar financial subject to
Christians. Nearly all of us are aware of the practice of tithing,
but very few actually realize its true significance. It was a commandment
of God to Israel and 10 percent of their first fruits
belonged to God. As I mentioned earlier, when God told me to
teach this subject for the first time, He led me to Deuteronomy
26 where He first introduced it to Israel.

Sir, from the last sentence of your quote above, you clearing state that God first introduced tithing to Israel in Deut 26. This statement is false, there are instructions on tithing in Deut 12, Deut 14 and even in Leviticus. So I have doubts if it was God that led you at all.

My first submissions:

1. Tithe began as an act of appreciation and still is.

2. Tithing is not part of the Mosaic LAWS...it never was mentioned as one.

3. Jesus plainly supported it when He maintained the act should not be ignored.

Read sorry STUDY Deut 14:22-29 and Deut 12:11-27 then post again if tithing is not part of Mosaic law, you may read the whole chapters or book of Deuteronomy. I believe "Deuteronomy" means something like second statement or repetition of the law.

TITHING IS DEFINITELY SCRIPTURAL BUT if u study the book of Deuteronomy then you will find that pastors today twist the "how" tithe should be paid and ask you to package money give it to them and not ask how it is used.....THIS IS FRAUD.

Tithing is meant to be given as food and drink not money....and this is to be eaten by all on the day of offering and the remaining kept in the church for the poor (ie the widows, fatherless, homeless and priests as long as they have no other businesses) that is why Malachi 3 says bring tithes so there will be food not money in God's house.

Also recall that the bible says he who gives to gives to the prophet gets a prophets reward......and he who gives to the poor lends to God himself (Prov 19:17).....thus the way to give your tithe to God is to give it to the poor not to your pastor.....

Jesus confirmed the above in Matt 25:40 and 45, when he said what you do to the "LEAST" of people is what you do to him, pls read this scripture from verse 31 to get a clearer picture. This is in line of law of tithing in Deuteronomy and why Jesus supported it.

Further to the aforementioned, study Acts 4:32-37, you will see that the church brought all they had to the apostles and the apostles shared it to those in need (the poor). This is also in line of the law of tithing in Deuteronomy.

THE BIG QUESTION NOW IS WHY DO PASTORS DO WHATEVER THEY LIKE WITH TITHES AND TELL YOU NOT TO ASK QUESTIONS?
If tithe is Gods money then the Bible should determine how it is used but IF PASTORS DETERMINE HOW IT IS USED THEN YOU HAVE JUST GIVEN TO THE PASTOR AND NOT GOD.

It is pertinent to state that any form of giving is good but if you really want to give to God then STUDY his word and learn how to give to him (by giving to the poor) if you wanna give to your pastor there is no evil or wrong in that, in fact it is good to give to your pastor. But any pastor that collects tithe in the name of God and uses it the way he like is a thief and a fraud.

Good day Brother, speaking in tongues is not compulsory for Christians. Remember my advice to you earlier. Do not get involved in arguments that do not add to your salvation.

Speaking in tongues, prophecy etc are all gifts that the Lord willingly chooses to give to each one according to His purpose not ours. Remember to focus on the most important..

1 Corinthians 12
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way.

The next chapter is a lesson for all of us: Learn to love for that's all you need to be Christian.

God's grace be with you.

GOD BLESS YOU and may you continue rightly divide the word of truth

It is the ability for local minds to deliver local solutions that set societies apart worldwide. With Africa, local minds seem ill-equipped and incapable of delivering solutions and we see why with your utterances above. Instead of constituting yourselves into the solutions providers of your Country, so that you can deliver Hotels like this to address hospitality demands and make yourselves wealthy in the process, you are all busy displaying crass ignorance, pettiness and an obsession with discussing inanities instead of ideas.

It is the Intercontinental Hotel group that is behind this. If you know who they are, what they do and what they have achieved, you would not be making the regrettably ignorant statements above. This is the private capital of one of the biggest hotel groups in the world behind this and I suggest you folks educate yourselves. Even bad belle against anyone/anything should not prompt this level of ignorance and abysmally stymied world-view if the Nigerian education system produces solutions providers who gain inspiration and guidance from commendable achievements.

- whose constitutional responsibility is it to build strong institutions, reduce corruption, improve infrastructures, etc? It is that of ALL tiers of govt. All tiers of govt have institutions under their care. All tiers of govt have certain category of infrastructures under their care. All tiers of govt should ensure that public servants under their watch are not corrupt.

So frustrated @Gbawe, stay with the facts.

Yes, primary sch education is the responsibility of state and LGs but PDP controls most of the states and LGs so PDP not APC should improve the primary sch education......but we know the APC and LP have the best performing state governors.....and PDP have the worst.

PDP has refused to practice true federalism but concentrates power at the "centre" so they should be at the fore front at building strong institutions, providing infrastructure and reducing corruption.....

3. Do you honestly think they went to serve notice to the school with their 'equipment '?? I'm sure they went to cause trouble, because no one beats somebody for delivering notice/letters.

Anyway, as I said before if they went to inform them of their tax default either verbally or written, they would never have been attacked except they go do another thing like bribe or arresting people!

Which equipment?? Pencil and biros?

You sent them mail several times urging them to pay their bills, if they refused as you claimed, why didn't you report to the police since they broke Ogun state's tax law(s)??

Instead you sent the taxman to the school to do what?? Collect it on the spot?? Really?? The school is supposed to count 2million then hand it over to them??

In my own opinion, also considering we are in Nigeria, I believe they wanted bribe, they went to collect bribe from the school. If that isn't the case, I can't think of any reason why those men would go to the school to collect tax if the school refused to pay it after several letters, will they change their minds on seeing the men......... A reasonable person /government would have involved/reported to the police, since the school broke the law instead of sending touts!!

After sending several mails without reply, the tax officials have every right to physically go there to inform the school authorities incase the letters sent didn't arrive,..... In developed countries, people are sometimes paid to serve court notices personally and get a pix of the notice being served.

Keep you opinion to yourself because it is one of many possibilities.....when looking for fact opinions become like the azzhole, everybody has got one and we don't want to know how yours looks like.....

The people who went are government officials like the police and not touts.....they are men doing their jobs and God loves them like he loves your pastor....... if you feel okay calling people touts then what do we call your pastor who prides in slapping children and your church workers who beat up people......even if they were touts no one should be attacked by so called Christians in a so called church......

The law is different from the principle. Friend, God said "bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse,......if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to recieve it." . My brothers in the faith, Malachi 3:10 isnt written by a Man. God did. Whether you deny it or not. It is God's principle of expanding you. Learn from Abraham (Hebrews 7:2). The issue is "can you trust God to His word?"

Tithing is a Jewish law not for Christians.... The law/procedure of paying tithes is outlined in Deuteronomy......
....and yes tithing is paid in food stuff and 'clean' animals.....not with money that is why Malachi said "so there will be MEAT" and not gold or silver.....

.... Jesus was a ' do as I do' person meaning that before he tells you to do something he will do it first e.g. Jesus prayed b4 asking us to pray........he fasted b4 asking us to fast.......he preached b4 asking us to preach.......he broke bread b4 asking us to do same......he washed feet b4 asking us to wash feet.....he was holy b4 asking us to be holy etc.........so why did Jesus not ask us to pay tithe......... BECAUSE JESUS DID NOT.

..... I mean HOW CAN JESUS REMEMBER TO TELL US TO PAY TAX AND FORGET TO TELL US TO PAY TITHE......because tithing is not Christian....
Remember when Jesus was wanted to talk about tax....he asked whose face is on the coin and was told it was Ceasar's b4 he said give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's........
God created animals and crops and in times past demanded these as tithe........money is an instrument of a state/country and God doesn't need it.......but your pastor does......

Please people the bible encourages us to always cross check what is preached to us like the brethren in Berea did........the bible also told us to take heed to what we hear.......and that there will be many false preachers in these days.......please pay more attention to your bible and less to your pastor.......study the bible as a whole and don't hold onto one part only......

....... It is instructive to note that the way many pastors now preach and live is very different from the way Jesus, the prophets before him and the disciples after him did........

If you wanna keep paying tithe, pls do.......after all it is your money, ......the most important thing I want to say is PAY MORE ATTENTION TO YOUR BIBLE AND LESS TO YOUR PASTOR......whoever he is
