And she will feel the rejection more and wonder what is wrong with her and that may send her into depression or worse when she finds out that his wife's mother is now living with them. I hate soft men!

Since men are technically the bread winner and have more say in the household, his side of the family have more rights in the home.
Exodus15v11:
You were your mom's only child left in Nigeria, hence she should have stayed with you to take better care of her and show her love during her remaining years, but you sent her away because of your wife, knowing fully well that she was not only ill but she was lonely. You did not do right by the woman. I can only imagine how she must have felt.

Yes, the same rule should apply to your wife's mom. You two can find someone to go stay with her and look after the finances involved. Or one of her siblings can go stay with her. As her siblings are there in Nigeria, she has a lot more family support than you did, which makes it even more baffling that she wants to be a hyprocrite and have her mom stay with you when she denied your mom of this same treatment and was hostile towards her.
Family › Re: Should I Allow My Mother-in-law In Our Home? I Need Advice by ycat: 3:40am On Mar 30, 2023
DO NOT allow your mother-law to come and stay with you. Let them handle it the same way you handled your mother when she needed your help, PERIOD! Let people know how it feels. I don't know if you wear the pant in your house, if you do, you must stand your ground no matter what. She will respect you more for it and how you feel will matter to her next time.
ozalogbo:
I am the first child of my mother, and I have two younger male siblings. I am doing well financially. My wife is the last of four children in her family. My dad died when I was still in the university, and this affected my mum.

However, as she aged, her health waned. She was a retired teacher. My brothers are not in the country. Both of them are in Europe. I wanted to have my mother stay with me in her later years because of her health and loneliness but my wife did not want it.

Whenever she was ill and I brought her home to be with us, my wife was usually hostile, especially if my mum had stayed beyond a week. She did not hid her disapproval, and this caused problems in the marriage. People advised that I should send my mum away and pay someone to live with her and take care of her. They said that marriage was between a man and his wife, not between a man, his wife, and his mother. I did and peace returned. Eventually my mum passed on after a few years.

Along the line, my father in law also died. And down the line, my mother in law's health began to deteriorate. We live in the same town. Among my wife's siblings she is the only one doing quite well. Now there are suggestions that the mother should come and live with us so that my wife can give her proper care. I believe that her living with us and seeing her grandchildren will help her. And indeed i have no problem accepting her, but when i remember the treatment my wife gave to my mum, there is a strong revulsion, in fact, anger in me. I shared with a friend, and he advised i forgive my wife, but the revulsion is so strong that i would feel cheated if i agreed.

What do you guys think. She reminded me then that marriage was between a man and his wife only. Shouldn't this also apply to my wife now?

What's the duty of a perm secretary again? If na to count chairs at events or Buhari gave Tinubu a heads up about it and he's ok with it, the new president can manage them, but if the appointments have a different motive, how long does it take to say 'you are fired' in that his thick voice?

This is why I love Fulani, they don't pacify igbos, they call their bluff. I really hope Tinubu will ignore igbos too and make them do their worse. It's really time to have all hands on deck and force igbos out of Nigeria.

The CIA wants a way out of Ukraine and find somewhere else for a new war. Peter Obi should be arrested now unless Nigeria is ready to break.

Obasanjo and Obi are in the same cia. We know how cia use and kill you before you become a liability to them. So if Peter Obi helps the cia to enter Nigeria war, igbos can't get anything from it but leaving Yorubaland. cia always sells weapons to both sides and they know Yoruba are the people with wealth that can afford the war. So igbos won't gain anything from cia but destruction and regret.

Now this is a new revelation. It can't be a hit and run even if they lived together for six months. I guess it just didn't work out between them. The only thing for me is, she should be over whatever happened by now and make you happy. If she didn't kill your father or attepted to kill him, there's nothing a child cannot forgive her mother for. So just continue to love her and hopefully one day she will tell you everything. Don't get other people involved, let her know it's going to be between the two of you alone, whether she tells you or not. Make her comfortable talking to you. Go to her sometimes and do things for her without asking anything about your dad.

Politics › Re: An Apology To The Igbo People Of Nigeria by ycat: 2:16am On Mar 27, 2023
Because of Beta male like Seun, igbos will keep seeing Yoruba as weak people.

What is this slobbering apology for? You could have just taken it down, or be a man and leave it up running, given the kind of people igbos are and what they have done to Yoruba on nairaland alone.
Seun:
Dear Igbo People,

I sincerely apologize for allowing a toxic political banner advert which said, "Lagos can never be run from Anambra; go and vote" to run on Nairaland for several hours on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

The mischievously worded banner advert appears to have been part of an ethnically divisive political campaign aimed at securing Lagos State for the ruling party by instilling fear in Yoruba people, making them believe that Igbo people intended to "take over" Lagos State.

Such ethnically divisive political campaigns have no place in a forward-thinking democracy, and for this reason, the ad should have been taken down instantly. No harm was intended, but my lack of forethought about the ethics of that type of advert led to a disappointing outcome.

We should have had a clear policy against accepting negative and ethnically divisive ads on Nairaland, we should have communicated it to all advertisers, and we should have taken down any advert that violated that policy instantly. This will all be in place before the next election.

We made almost N16,000 from the ad. We will double it and donate it to victims of political violence in Lagos.

Please, do NOT give up on Nigeria. The times are challenging, but TOGETHER, we will overcome.

Sincerely,
Seun Osewa.

You don't know that, no one knows for sure, the two people that know aren't even sure. Like I said, there are one night stands and before you know it and the picture does not rule both of these out. And there's no picture with the three of them in it. What would make a mother forget where a man she had a relationship with is from let alone the one she had a child with or withhold a crucial information of who he is from her son? The love between a mother and her son is too deep for that. 'She would rather die than give an information she has to her own child' only sounds good in a movie, not in real world. No mother after many years would withhold what could breathe a new life to her child.
PoliteActivist:
It wasn't a one-night stand at all. Did you look at the photo? The three of them took the photo together. That was a family!
Besides, you can only put so much in words and in writing. There's a lot the dude can't tell us, especially as to how he knows. But he KNOWS that his mum is not telling him everything. Instead threatening suicide if he kept asking her. There's something she'd rather die than reveal!

I don't think your mother is withholding information from you, it seems she just doesn't know more than what she gave you. Just because she's your mother doesn't mean she hasn't had her own fair share of women vices, including one night stands and before-you-know-it. If you have watched old disco video, all those women backing up and grinding on men and sometimes strangers are now in their 50's, 60's or even 70's. What you should do is keep being nice to her and let her know you understand it's been a long time and how you don't blame her for it. Any little she can remember will help you to put the pieces together, like the name of the company or the location. A friend he worked with or a place they went together where people knew him. Buy her things, hug her all the time and do things she likes for her.
Yedidea:
Yes I have done anything to convince her to let her tell me every Truth, but, I brought her to my own house and pampered her alot , but no confers, it's reach to a point She told me that if I keep pressing her about this of my father she will kill herself, that even made thought of maybe she did something wrong to him but she denied, I'm not in good relationship with her because of this thou I don't like it that way, it only Left with police which that Will be the biggest step in her life and to her family members

This is a propaganda Yoruba must not fall for.
Igbos are using psychological warfare on Yoruba, so they can conquer our land, please don't buy it. That we have a handful of Yoruba in igboland is not the reason igbos should be dragging our homeland with us. Igbos are Yoruba's No1 enemy, no other tribe comes close.
McStoic:
I didn't want to quote you but you sound so naive and confident in ignorance. See, come to Owerri and see many Yorubas doing well. One of the most popular real estate gurus in Owerri is Jide Taiwo. Among the most popular poultry owners in Imo state are Yorubas. I know a pastor in Redeemed Christian Church of God who owns a school in Imo state. I know another in Deeper Life who also has a school. I know many Yorubas who came to do NYSC in Igboland and ended up settling and marrying here. Many of them are landlords. Some of my bosses in the office and colleagues are Yorubas etc.

One underlying common story is that most of them usually testify that before they came to South East, they used to hear bad news about the Igbos, but what they found out is not true. Some of you Yorubas who don't travel outside your zone are the most misinformed lot who thrive and revel in ignorance and unfounded rumours. Travel and see.,

Lol!
If Yoruba can hate just 1% of how igbos hate Yoruba, igbos won't have mouth to talk in Yorubaland as they do today.
McStoic:
A Yoruba who spent some years in Igboland once regretted believing all he heard about the Igbos. In short he angrily said that Yorubas (though I know is not all of them) are the only people who hate someone in advance even when they have never had any encounter with the person to warrant such hate. A Yoruba will spend years in Igboland but will not hear Igbo. But an Igbo person will spent few years in Yorubaland and will become fluent in the language. Doesn't that tell you who is more open hearted?

He knows exactly what he's talking about and he's damn right on the money. Endsar wasn't peaceful it was a violent riot by ipob. This is the final battle between Yoruba and igbos and we have no choice than to give it our ALL! The most important part is, no single igbo will remain anywhere in Yorubaland and that alone is worth any level of casualties on Yoruba side. Since no igbo is calling their people to order, it's safe to say all igbos agree to the war they have declared on Yoruba on our own soil, so every igbo on Yoruba soil is an enemy combatant.
