The relationship did not work out with your friend and their ex for a reason, so why not ask your friend for their blessing and see if you two are a better fit?

I have seen a few guys get bent out of shape when one of their buddies decides to hang out with someone they used to date. When this happens, they often weren’t even in a serious relationship with the woman, but got mad at the friend anyway, saying the friend broke “the guy code.” They also get mad at the woman they once dated for accepting the offer from the friend to get together.

In a world where it can be so difficult to find “The One,” I don’t think there should be any rules when it comes to love. If a relationship didn’t work out between you and someone else, and you know your friend is interested, I don’t see the point in getting angry at your friend for seeing something in your ex that you may not have seen. As long as he or she wasn’t strategizing a way to break up the relationship while you were dating, wouldn’t you want your friend to find happiness? Even if it’s extremely upsetting that they may have found happiness in your ex, I would say it just wasn’t meant to be for you two. The bright side? You could have been a catalyst in helping them find their b’sheret!

My advice? Just get to know each other and take things slowly until you find out their true intentions. If their intentions are of a casual nature, you may not want to move forward, considering the close connection. However, if the relationship has the potential for more, you can always talk about it down the line. However, if you had anything significant with the ex, and they are good friends, that new person likely already knows. If the ex never spoke about you, then there couldn’t have been much there for him to get mad about. So regardless, when it comes to love, take chances, because

The major problem we have in this country today is that most of our intelligent and the brightest minds are running away from active politics.

They are allowing mediocre like Jonathan, Buhari , Atiku, Tinubu, Obasanjo etc to determine who becomes president in a country of thousands of professionals and intellectual minds. This is the reason why some people think Jonathan or Buhari is the most appropriate choice to make. If not, why is Nigeria brightest minds running away from contesting election and getting elected to rescue the country from all these semiliterate thieves currently parading themselves as leaders?

The problem with Nigeria today is not that of Igbo Vs Yoruba or that of Hausa Vs Igbo or East Vs North or West as these useless politicians wants us to believe, but our problem is that Nigerians do not really have credible choice to make amongst all these dregs parading themselves as leaders.....
I challenge the all the highly educated and intelligent professionals amongst us both home and abroad to come out and rescue this country from all these blind people imposing themselves on us as leaders. We don't need to be fighting ourselves over all these people, because they are the cause of our problem in the first place.

I treat the philosophy of Jesus as I do any other prescription for living...take from it whatever I find of value, don't concern myself with the rest. But sadly I have not really find anything of value yet. This I think[

I see the whole love your neighbor/other cheek concept really only works if there is some reward/punishment based post corporal state of being. Otherwise you are just going through life permitting others to take serial advantage of you.

I found some of the parables to have what I view as bad moral points, especially the Prodigal Son tale where the irresponsible wastrel son gets placed above the loyal, hard working son, simply because he finally staggers home after years of debauchery. Yeah, that was fair.

Some of the other parables, I couldn't figure out what the moral was supposed to be. The Wedding Feast one where the king's bigshot friends send excuses for why they can't attend the prince's wedding ("I have bought some oxen and must try them" is my favorite) so the king invites all the lower class people to the wedding instead and at the wedding he finds one who isn't wearing a wedding garment. This fellow is cast into the darkness with the traditional teeth gnashing etc. The moral, Jesus explains, is "Many are called but few are chosen."

Huh? wtf? Are they sure they heard Jesus correctly? Maybe it was actually "Many are cold, but few are frozen."

God is a God of mercy, yes. But he is also a God of Justice. It is mistaken kindness to let error go unpunished. Where God's long suffering comes into play is HOW LONG it takes before he finally brings judgement.

You quoted from the Book of Leviticus, where God was setting out the consequences if the Isrsaelites did not live up to their covenant with him. What i am trying to point out to you is HOW LONG he exercised patience before those terrible consequences eventually happened. Sometimes when we read the Bible we do not take note of the fact that this Book took hundreds of years to compile.

Yes. God told them horrible things will happen to them if they disobeyed him. They went ahead and disobeyed. He kept sending prophets to remind them. They ignored his prophets. Eventually the things he had warned them about for HUNDREDS OF YEARS eventually comes to pass.

As for the individual judgements you cited, remember we do not have all the facts. There are many decisions an adult parent will take that will seem wicked and uunfair to a child. Why? Because the adult knows things the child does not.

As for eternal punishment in hell fire, God is not going to do that. I am sure there have been enough threads on that subject to help a sincere person see the truth about hellfire.

Beside please read more from exodus to all other books of the bible you will see that your god has committed Atrocities that equates Genocides. You keep on saying that its punishment for the wicked. Is that characteristic of a god??

A man was stoned for gathering wood on the Sabbath. Another and his family were stoned and burned because he took loot from a conquest for himself. Thousands were killed for complaining. A couple was killed for lying about how much money they made on a property. We are to stone to death our rebellious teenagers, or those who engage in pre-marital sex, or even those who work on the Sabbath. The judgment of God of the Bible is clear.

I could list these judgments all day long. Where is the mercy here? If one is rewarded for obedience and cursed for disobedience, isn’t that simply getting what one deserves? Mercy would be there if there were no curses, stonings, killings, and eternal punishment in hell.

I noticed that in your post you made a lot of reference to the book of Lamentations as evidence of God's wickedness. But you only state one side of the story. Here's the other side:

The book of Lamentations was written by the prophet Jeremiah. It was a song of mourning over the destruction of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon. How did this come about?

The Israelites were God's chosen people. They agreed to be his ambassadors on earth and serve as his representatives. But for most of their existence as a nation, they kept going astray, forsaking him and worshipping other gods, and committing depravities practiced by other nations. God kept calling them and warning them:

Isaiah 1:10-19
Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!
“The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?” says the Lord. “I have more than enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats. This is God pleading with the Israelites through the prophet Isaiah. This was written 125 years before the events of Lamentations.

Micah 3:9-12

But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, to Israel his sin. Hear this, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right; who build Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness. Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they look for the Lord’s support and say, “Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us.” Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.

This was written 110 years before God finally brought judgement upon the Jerusalem.

Nahum, Habakuk, Joel, Zephaniah. These were all prophets God kept sending to the Jews in Jerusalem to warn them about their bad ways and get them to stop misbehaving. They paid no heed. Finally, after hundreds of years of such warnings with no response from his people, God let them suffer punishment by being carried off into exile in Babylon. The King of Babylon burnt the city of Jerusalem to the ground and carried off all its inhabitants as exiles. That is what the book of Lamentations is about.

I don't know how you will understand this, but to me it sounds more like an example of an extremely patient and long suffering God - rather than a genocidal one.
