locodemy: From this day i have decided not to buy a single unit of shares till the price of crude oil is determined.low oil prices means low stock prices.it is better i invest at the end of february and collect dividend in fews days after than to pursue air. This your personal decision is perfectly understood, and I hope you dont turn it into a sing song for daily trumpeting. Note that nations without a drop of crude oil have stock exchanges where stocks are traded. For, even in war torn countries, business goes on. No matter the market condition, the one simple trick for traders is right entry and right exiting, with good luck. |

Chibuking81: manipulation is going on in Eterna, current bid and offer price is just a trap, the next you will see Eterna after their manipulation is at #1. NSE as I observe do have stock pair, GTB and Zenith, Transcorp and Eterna, if GTB fall next to follow is Zenith bank, likewise if Transcorp fall next to follow is Eterna, eterna price can not be more than Transcorp price for more than 2 days. There is general bad market. But the bolded is void already. |

Raider76: I think the mistake, which the CBN Gov. also tried to correct, is that reporters report stress tests as showing that a bank which fails the test is already under stress. The test is theoretical. It subjects the banks to some extreme conditions and see how they will fair under those conditions. It doesn't mean a bank is currently under stress. So the caption used by Sahara Reporters clearly gives the wrong impression. Sahara caption may be wrong, but the bad news remains. Skye is desperate to raise money, and doing it at these price levels means the wiping out of existing shareholders after the order of unitybank. |

PETERiCHY: Oil markets will continue to be oversupplied for as long as five years as producers in the Middle East ramp up output, according to Mohammed Al-Shatti, Kuwaits representative to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
Iraq pumped a record 4.4 million barrels a day in June, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Libyan output, which has declined by more than half due to conflict, can return "at any moment," Al-Shatti said in an interview Saturday in Doha.
Iran has the capacity to boost exports by 500,000 barrels a day within one week of sanctions being lifted and by 1 million a day within six months, Roknoddin Javadi, managing director of state-run National Iranian Oil Co., said last month.
"Lower prices will continue until the glut in the market ends," Al-Shatti said. "Many countries are expected to increase production. Iranian crude is expected to return and that means an increase in production."
Demand isnt expected to absorb the extra capacity and it will take shifts in supply to affect prices, he said. Al-Shatti said geopolitical disruptions or reduced future output because of the 30 percent fall in capital expenditure by oil companies could cause an increase.
[http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-11-07/kuwait-sees-oil-glut-of-up-to-five-years-on-increasing-supply] Brother, these things you're posting to some extent are welcome, for they help us to err on the side of caution. But it needs be pointed out that all the scary stuff are the reason oando is selling at the present levels and not N50+. The market is done pricing them in, so I would tone down the scare mongering and alarmism if I were you. Everything thing in moderation. No vex o. |

angrybull: Skye bank to pay 4b naira fine
Less than two weeks after it sanctioned two major banks for flouting Federal Government directives on Treasury Single Account, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has imposed a fine of N4 billion on Skye Bank for concealing funds belonging to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/tsa-cbn-fines-skye-bank-n4bn-for-concealing-mdas-funds/225038/ First I must confess I wasn't patient to finish reading this story. The much I read however clearly pointed to a deliberate and fraudulent attempt at concealment of the said funds and false declaration of figures. Yet I didn't see any mention of anybody from both the bank and the MDAs involved being picked up by security for qestioning. Perharps a carry over from my law enforcement background, I am a stickler for rules, compliance and discipline, and I think some person(s) are getting away with this too cheaply with just fines. It's high time we stopped playing hide and seek with fraud in this country. This is negative for the skye stock, given that we're already fleeing from the looming dilution from capital raising. |

AkinadeDare: Ha! Opportunity to sell at huge loss? It isn't done that way. No matter how a stock paints itself as opportunity, it is still not an opportunity to sell at loss, due to the uncertainty of the market. The only case that 'could' be opportunity is when a fundamentally strong stock has a very low price. One should even get more units of such stock at cheap price, Not to sell. And if it continually goes down, selling is not ideal. One has to be patient to get more units at extraordinarily cheap price, with the fund one can do without till the long run (to be on the safest side). With this, there will be peace, and not panic or loss. Peter did not mean opportunity to sell at a loss. He meant opportunity to bail out of a crashing jet b4 it hits ground. He believed, perharps even now, that oando, despite the rebound we're seeing, is still headed for the car park or near it. |

Elai147: Maybe you don't know how price manipulation occurs. It happens everywhere even in the US and the UK- so why do you think it doesn't or happen less in naija? How do you think market makers make their profit? Are they 'magas' to just come to the market and perform their primary functions and create liquidity for you and I? You asked why manipulators allowed price to crash in the first place? If price doesn't fall how will they make profit? A case in point: a deep pocket institutional investor or mutual fund starts dumping a stock that it owns and the price begins to fall. This creates herd mentality and other investors join the race and the price continues to fall. When the deep pocket men are satisfied with the price level and that technical indicators are now displaying buy signals which investors are watching out for, they start buying aggressively. Again, herd behaviour sets in and other investors start buying and the price continues to rise. At this point the institutional investor or mutual fund start recording huge profit as price goes up. Some ogas here sometimes advise investors to sell now and buy later at a cheaper price thereby increasing or even doubling their initial units- this is exactly what the deep pocket men did and it is how manipulation can be done legally. If this mop and dump practice you describe is legal, then, true, it could be called manipulation but in a positive way. No wrong doing. Its only up to the buyer to beware. shine your eyes. We are all competing and trying to out-smart and dump on each other, on even BNSiTl, remember. |

Chibuking81: you can still thank him, maybe next week or next month. Manipulation in the Nigeria stock exchange market is killing the business. I believe that it's going to stop very soon. It is not manipulation, brother. It is market forces of demand and supply, which is ruled by market sentiment. If they are manipulating oando up now, as you imply, why did the manipulators allow it to crash in the first place? Why is nobody manipulating up wemabank? Is it that TOE does not want a better position on the Forbes list that he has allowed transcorp to be suffering under 2, and uba under 4 etc, thereby demoting him on forbes? There are occasional market infractions, and there is the limited impact of market making, but most of this talk of manipulation are mere conspiracy theories to me. |
