Saheed9:He fought against his Igbo brothers to please his northern pay masters. The northerners then thanked him by hanging him. It's so unfortunate for Ken Saro-Wiwa. Abacha was a no nonsense General who was ready to mow down anybody who was slowing down the flow of oil and Ken was his hit-list. |
tuborme:Don't mind these APC supporters. Rochas Okorocha is a traitor to the Igbos. Look at him waving to his hand to his rented crowd in Aba as if his party stands any chance of winning elections anywhere in the South-east. Jumping from one party to the other for political expediency and telling the Igbos that it is in their best interest enthrone Yoruba/Hausa hegemony by joining APC. The man doesn't care about anything except becoming president. That's how he begged on his knees to become the APGA candidate and when he won,he suddenly remembered that APGA is just a 'regional party' and dumped it for APC. I trust my fellow Igbos in Imo and Aba. They know that Rochas is just a sellout. In 2015, I pray that Imo,Aba,Ebonyi and Enugu states will vote to unify Igbos under APGA and to make Jonathan president because the only alternative to Jonathan is to have Buhari and the return of power to the north. Rochas should start thinking about the trailer that will remove his belongings from Government House next year. |
I coould be wrong but I see a guys "Dick" showing |
Here is my own prediction. How the South-East and South-South will vote is already a fore-gone conclusion. My advice Buhari as an Igbo man is that he should save his breath (and money) by not bothering to campaign in the South-East. There's no way in cotton-picking-hell he will convince any of us to support a "Northerner" over GEJ,our next door neighbour. Buhari has already lost these two zones long before any election. Buhari will also lose massively in middle belt states like Platue and Kogi as well as other PDP strongholds in the north. I pity Buhari because he could have used the millions he spent purchasing the APC nomination form to do other things. Instead,he spent it chasing shadows he has no hope of catching. Somebody wake me up when they swear in GEJ for his second term next year (yawns and falls asleep zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) |
oberttechnology:Don Jazzy always claimed he never knew why people think Enebeli is his Dad. He did however say that Enebeli and his Dad were good friends. |
The northerner says "Igbos are the problem", the Yoruba man says " Igbos are the problem". But when the Igbo man says "ok,let me go and form my own country so I won't be problem any more for you people" The Hausa man and his Yoruba cohort will shout: "Na lie! You no dey go anywhere!" Can't live with the Igbos but you can't live without them? Wahala dey |
I've been using the iPhone 6 plus now for about a month having upgraded from the iPhone 5 and I'm happy with it. I had to get used to the size having never used a phone that big but it's no common nature to me. The main difference I see with it and the iPhone 5 is that the camera is much better. The screen has a better resolution too. So besides the camera, bigger size, updated apps and iOS,there isn't such a spectacular difference between the 6 plus and the iPhone 5 |
jpphilips:I kind of pity people like you who just peddle lies without doing a little bit of research. Talking without knowing what you are talking about. Go and read General Effiongs "Nigeria and Biafra: My story" or You can read Ben Odogwus "Nowhere to hide:Conflicts inside Biafra". There are many books to tell you that the eastern Nigeria consultative assembly had at least 2 representatives from all the districts in eastern Nigeria and at least one of those representatives had to be a traditional ruler. This assembly went to all noooks and cranny of eastern Nigeria and asked the people if they wanted to remain in Nigeria or secede. The assembly came back and gave Ojukwu the overwhelming mandate to pull out of Nigeria. Infact,in Effiongs book,he said that on the day that Biafra was declared, the people of the south-south had the largest contigent of people who came to Enugu to celebrate. You talked about Adaka Boro and he's capturing of some places in the south-south. Again you show your ignorance. Adaka Boro was doing this in 1966,long before the consultative assembly gave Ojukwu the mandate in 1967. Adaka Boro was even in jail by then so I don't know how the two events even relate. You said that Ogundipe renounced his position as head of state,Ogundipe was never head of state but was the rightful person who should have been. He was forced out by Gowon and the northerners. You should realise that after Ironsi died, there were at least 10 (Effiong,Adebayor,Njoku,Bassey,Imo,Nwawo, and others were all senior to Gowon) officers who were senior to Gowon including Ojukwu. Any of these senior officers should have become head of state not a junior like Gowon. Ojukwus quarrel with Gowon was that Gowon should not jump over his seniors to become head of state and he was right about this. You said that Ojukwu never earned a kobo in his life? Do you know that Ojukwu was a district officer for a long in Udi in present day Enugu state? Do you know that Ojukwus father did not talk to him (Ojukwu) for a many years because of Ojukwus decision to enter the army? Go and read award winning Author Frederick Forsyth's book called "Emeka" for the story of how Ojukwu started transport business while in exile with a loan he raised. Ojukwu was already a successful international business man by the time he returned from exile. Saying Ojukwu never earned a penny in his life is the height of silliness. Im not actually writing all of this for your benefit, Im writing this for those who may have read your silly posts and think this is true. |
Collynzo29:This is not a good idea because APGA doing this will only split the Igbo vote, thus helping the king of the Janjaw££dians known as Buhari! The only way to stop Buhari is to vote Jonathan! Obi is just a 'Job seeker' who betrayed his people because of higher office. One thing I know is that he is finished politically in Anambra state. It would have been better for him to have retired honourably from politics than make a mockery of himself by joining PDP. Now I will see how PDP chieftains like the Uba Brothers,Emeka Offor,Ukachukwu and Athur will 'deal' with someone like him that no longer has any political value. |
Its most regrettable that Agbaso has returned to PDP, a party he vowed never to return to. I heard he left because APGA was more disposed to giving Iheanacho the Governorship ticket. An Imo APGA insider told me that the party preferred to give Iheanacho the ticket because Agbaso no longer had the financial muscle to prosecute the election like Iheanacho can. I think that Agbaso has made a grave mistake leaving APGA just like Okorocha and Peter Obi. I don't believe that PDP will give him (Agbaso) the ticket especially since other PDP 'heavyweights' like Ararume and 'Ihedioha' have been jostling for it for long. I think he should have stayed in APGA and assumed the role of 'Kingmaker' like he did with Okorocha. As for Okorocha, I really hope the people of Imo will not bring the Yoruba/Hausa party like APC into Igboland because of Okorocha. Generally, I pray we Igbos vote APGA in all 5 Igbo states so that Igbos can become a unified Political power block against 2019 when an Igboman must emerge President of Nigeria! If only for Igbos unity, let all Igbos vote APGA! |
jpphilips:Just look at your write up. Displaying your crass ignorance for all to see. You are just one of the many Nigerians with 'slave mentality' who has never picked up a Nigerian history book to understand what happened back then and why the war was fought. Nothing you have said here is even remotely true about Ojukwu. For those who read this ignorant persons post. Be aware of this: Ojukwu never forced any minority to join Biafra. The eastern Nigerian people's consultative assembly which comprised of all the Chiefs in the Niger-Delta gave Ojukwu the mandate to declare Biafra. The ignoramus also said that Ogundipe and Ojukwu reached an agreement to recognise Gowon as head of state when it is a known fact and even something Gowon confirmed at his birthday few days ago that one of the biggest problems Gowon and Ojukwu had was that Ojukwu told Gowon to hand over to the highest ranking officer which was Brigadier Ogundipe. This guy wants us to believe that Ogundipe and Ojukwu would agree that their Junior,Gowon, should become head of state? Finally, this dunce said that Ojukwu only depended on his fathers wealth and led Igbos to a war where they were killed. Mr man, Ojukwu entered the Nigerian army because he did not want to depend on his fathers wealth. Ojukwu became a successful business man in Ivory Coast while in exile after taking a loan and starting up. Ojukwu led his people in a war for freedom, many died but we the Igbos do not curse Ojukwu because we know freedom is always purchased in blood. South Sudan fought a war for many years and lost millions of lives to war and starvation but they have their own country today and they are enjoying it. But because you are a slave of 'one Nigeria',you will never understand the right of a people to sovereignty, self determination and the right of any body to choose if they want to be Nigerian or not. I'm proud of my Igbo nation that we fought for our freedom, and even though we lost, we should all remember that destiny delayed is not destiny denied. |
There are many guys who are desperate to get out of not just Nigeria but Africa as a whole. For these guys,if the price is marrying their Grandmothers age mate, then so be it. In a way,I don't blame these guys. Nigeria doesn't inspire the youths with hope. |
Obi is just a "Job seeker" |
fineworker24:I said it before in a previous thread that Nigerians have a penchant for celebrating mass murderers. Murutala Mohammed: Led a counter coup and superviced the murder of over 300 fellow officers based on ethnic sentiments. Led troops that killed 700 civilians in Asaba. Led thousands of soldiers to their deaths in a stupid attempt trying to cross the river Niger. This man was rewarded in death by having an international Airport named after him and putting his treacherous face on the N20 note. Theophilus Danjuma: kidnapped a sitting head of state along with the Governor of the western region and superviced their torture and execution. He later led troops who committed extrer-Judicial killings in Nsukka during the war. He has been rewarded with many national honours and allocated oil blocks that has made him a Billionaire many times over. Benjamin Adekunle: committed war crimes by executing prisoners of war, thereby contravening the Geneva convention and bragged about it. Rewarded with ministerial positions and rapid promotion. Shehu Yaradua: personally cut of the heads of two Igbo soldiers when he was returning to the North after the counter coup. Captured Onitsha during the war where troops under him surrounded a church where worshippers were seeking refuge, dragged them out and executed all of them. Rewarded, was was later doubly promoted from a Lt Colonel to a Brigadier after the death of Murutala and made Obasunjos deputy and retired as one of the richest men in the north. I could go on and on with many examples but I wonder why Nigerians celebrate men who have committed murder? It's a shame. |
cap28:I don't know if you are a troll or just plain ignorant. Ojukwu betrayed the Igbos? Funny indeed. You think that Igbos would rever a man who betrayed them? Get it into your thick skull that Ojukwu led his people in a war to gain independence from the cesspit of deciet and corruption called Nigeria. If that is what you call betrayal,I hope the Igbo nation will have more people "betray" it. |
PassingShot:Oh shut man. The difference is that she is still a card carrying APGA member. She did not sell her conscience for political appointment like Obi |
RebelLeader15:The only real 'slaves' are people like you and others who decided to accept domination of the Hausa/Fulanis like cattle without a brain to realise that it the right of any man to seek self determination. Igbos fought to be free, they fought for self rule. They did not go to die because Ojukwu told them to,they fought because collectively, they decided that they did not want to be part of Nigeria. Freedom is one of the few things in life worth dying for and if you understand why our founding fathers had to suffer and die to give Nigeria independence from Great Britain,I see no reason why you won't understand why Igbos had to suffer and die to get independence from Nigeria. If Ojukwu had actually been someone who 'mindlessly' led his people to their deaths,he would not be revered as he was in life and death. |
Life should be celebrated and I would congratulate anyone who has attained the age of 80 like Gowon. However,Gowon the man and ex-soldier was a colossal disaster. Anyone who is actually congratulating this man for keeping Nigeria one needs to have emergency brain surgery. The sins of Gowon are too numerous but I will mention the main one's here [1] Destroyed the integrity of the Army by not recognising seniority: Gowon assumed power after the counter coup, thereby "leap frogging" over several officers including Ogundipe,Nwawo,Adebayor,Effiong,Njoku,Bassey,Ejoor and Ojukwu who were all senior to him. By doing this,Gowon taught junior officers that it was ok to kick their seniors out of the way in the quest for power and Murutala did the same to him 9 years later. [2] Gowon became the face northern Nigerian domination:The war was not fought by Gowon because of his love of Nigeria. It was fought to keep Nigeria under the control of North. Does anyone actually believe that if it had been the North that had the sea-port and oil, they would be fighting to keep Nigeria one so we can all share their oil wealth together? Lol. Trust me,if they had been the one who had oil, they would have left Nigeria long time ago. [3] Gowon directly caused the war:It should be noted that Ojukwu did everything humanly possible to advert war. Ojukwu asked Gowon to hand over to the highest ranking officer at the time (Brigadier Ogundipe) to reflect integrity of 'seniority' within the army and to dispel suspicion of Northern domination.Gowon refused.Ojukwu met Gowon in Aburi,Ghana, where they reached an agreement to advert war.Gowon and Ojukwu signed this agreement in the presence of the Ghanaian president,General Ankrah. What did Gowon do? Gowon returned to Lagos and turned his back on the agreement.Instead of Gowon renegotiating,he took the unilateral decision of creating States (divide and rule) which was against the Aburi accord. This was the singular act that caused Ojukwu to declare Biafra. Even with the declaration of Biafra,Gowon could have still returned to the negotiation table but instead,he chose to go to war which would claim millions of lives. [4] After the war ended in victory for Gowon and the northern oligarchy, then came corruption. There was a period of oil boom of the early 70's knows as the 'Petro-Naira era' where millions of dollars of oil money flowed into the country. Gowon and his highly corrupt regime frittered away what has been regarded as the best economic period in the history of Nigeria. He mortgaged the future of unborn Nigerians for the benefit of the Hausa/Fulani Oligarchy. Gowon can carry on celebrating his birthday without a thought for all the children that died when he decided to use starvation as an instrument of war, however,it is history and posterity that will judge him. I'm glad that he is still alive to see the Nigeria he fought to keep one still in tatars as it was before he went to Aburi. History has long vindicated Ojukwu.Personally,I think Gowonis a terrible man. |
I wonder if anyone has the link to thread showing the first generation of Nigerian Army officers? I've seen it here on analysts but can't remember the name of the thread. |
traware:Wether you like it or not,the truth is that the North is a parasite that is feeding fat of the wealth of Southern Nigeria, particularly the south-South. What is really funny is that for a people who contribute little or nothing to the Nigerian state, they also want control the state of affairs in the country. Very laughable. |
