The unification decree paved way for Gowon to come in later and create the states. Stop trying to rewrite history with your silly theories that have no basis in reality. Guy, your lack of understanding and knowledge is so painfully obvious yet, you keep refusing to educate yourself. When Aguiyi-Ironsi promulgated the Unification Decree No. 34 decree, what was it designed to achieve??

Then you turned round to say: " What is important here is if Ironsi introduced the unitary system....." What do you mean by 'If'? shocked Oh, are you saying he did not introduce the unitary system?? And are you really being honest by claiming that: "therefore, Ironsi cannot be blamed for the unitary system?" Must you lie to get your points across? And then you went further to do a distracted dance into the realm of ridiculous antics by trying to deflect attention from Aguiyi-Ironsi and claiming that Gowon did not undo the unification decree done by Ironsi, instead he went ahead to create states. Abeg, stop this silliness. sad

The issue under discussion was that Aguiyi-Ironsi was the first person who destroyed the autonomy and federating structure of the regions, by enacting the unitary system. Every other thing that caused the decline of the regions started with that singular act. Stop trying to exonerate Ironsi, by beating around the bush and throwing Gown, Murtala Mohammed and co. into the mix! angry Stick to the topic please, and stop digressing using half-baked submissions. undecided
Oh so now it is Ironsi that paved the way for unitary rule? It's no longer him that introduced it? You Yorubas can peddle all the lies you like to protect you Hausa-Fulani overlords but one thing is certain.

The zoo must fall!!

Blame that sectional bigoted unrepentant stubborn goat called Buhari
Forget the gworo chewing Fulani cattle rearer. He ran in 2003, he ran in 2007, he ran in 2011 and finally succeeded on his fourth attempt in 2015. One would have thought there was this deep burning desire for positive change that was driving this man to get to Government House. 6 months on, we have finally seen that the man only came for a free tax payer covered traveling spree.

Buhari is a disaster, even his cows in Daura are disappointed with him.

It was a terrible time. Igbos and easterners were massacred all over the place in their thousands. It's remarkable that people know that such horrendous killings happend but still, people question why Ojukwu should declare Biafra. I wonder if these people were expecting the death toll to reach 1 million before Ojukwu should do such?

We are not one, we have never been one and we will never be one

if he has the right to call for arms then the Nigerian government has the right to jail him till Jesus comes again.
It is not possible to jail a person for what they say in a democratic country, doesn't matter if the person called for arms or a nuclear bomb. It falls under freedom of speech
Politics › Re: Nnamdi Kanu's Sister Says DSS Men Are Trying To Kill Her Brother In Detention by zendy: 7:21am On Nov 27, 2015
I'm quite sure that many Nigerians will come on this thread to praise their terrorist Government for using terrorist methods to deal with Kanu. Being the Nigerians that they are, they are used to disregard for the rule of law and don't know what "Innocent until proven guilty" means.

As for videos or broadcasts where Nnamdi is calling for weapons to fight for Biafra, the man has the right to do this if he feels that Nigeria is unjustly holding the freedom of his people.

Anyway, you cannot jail a person for what the say, there is nothing like "verbal crime". You can only jail a person for what they do but never for what they say

Politics › Re: The Truth About Biafra By Sunday Dolph Christopher Aimuamwosa by zendy: 4:19pm On Nov 26, 2015
The hypocrite even knows that it should have been Brigadier Babafemi Ogundipe who should have been sworn in as the head of state after the death of Ironsi as the next highest ranking officer instead of the much junior Gowon. His argument is why Ojukwu did not not bow down like others and accept Nothern domination. Look at the reasoning of someone who calls himself a human being. The reason why Ojukwu did not accept northern domination is because he is an Igbo man not a Yoruba man!!!

Calling Biafra an Ojukwu scam because Ojukwu refused to lick the a$$ of Gowon like Awolowo?

Saying that Ojukwu wasted the lives of so many when it was your so called Nigeria that came down to the peaceful east to to kill people in the name of "one Nigeria"

The bigot doesn't even know that the direct reason Ojukwu declared Biafra was Gowons violation of the Aburi agreement.

Go back into the archives and read up on what Aguiyi-Ironsi did. The 4 regions were federating units in name only, after he took over.
Nonsense. Suspension of parts of the constitution, limitation of press freedom and centralising of powers. These are the hallmarks of every Military rule, anywhere in world. There was no way Ironsi could rule as if he was a civilian ruler. What is important here is if Ironsi introduced the unitary system. Who abolished the regions? Who created States? Who took away resource control and federal fiscal policy? Certainly not Ironsi. Therefore, Ironsi cannot be blamed for the unitary system. But even if Ironsi was the one who did this, who sustained it? Those who killed Irondi said that one of the major reasons they did this was his introduction of unitary rule, why didn't they keep the regions and abrogate the decree when they came to power? Why did the go against the confederation they agreed to in Ghana? Let's not fool ourselves. Murtala and co wanted to pull the North out of Nigeria, but when they were reminded of Oil, they reversed. The North had to get to the oil and the unitary system they claimed they were against was the perfect opportunity to do that. To this day, they are the major proponents of the unitary system

StOla:
Because a man called Major General Aguiyi Ironsi decreed a unitary government - thus actualizing the Northern fears at domination by the South.

The North simply put Ironsi where their own leaders before him had been put, and took over the country with a unitary government, looking others in the face and asking "how are you enjoying this unitary now?".

Those who decreed the unitary government have been crying for freedom ever since.

Kind of like raping a rapist.
For how long will you people keep promoting this lie? How can you say that Ironsi introduced unitary rule when all four regions were in place as at the time he was killed and all four still had the essential ingredients of federalism such as resource control and regional autonomy?

yes, the ibos won't leave behind any of their SE land to Nigeria. If you think SS is included, then you are an oyel thief and a land grabber. grin
What I usually tell people like you (who might be another Yoruba mischief maker or just someone from the south scared of Igbo domination) is that you should get a good map of Nigeria that shows Rivers state well. Up to 70% of Rivers state are Igbos, Igbo speaking people and Igboids all the way down to Porthacourt which is the land of the Ikweres. Before you rush to say that Ikweres are not Igbo, you can use this example. Duncan Okechukwu (Duncan mighty), Tonto Dike and Julius Agwu are all well known Ikwere entertainers. What tribe in Nigeria do you think the surnames Okechukwu,Dike and Agwu belongs to? Should all the Igbos and their kith and kin in Delta state, Rivers state,Cross River, parts of Akwa Ibom and the Igbos of the lower Benue all secede from Nigeria as Biafra, what you will find is that your Niger-Delta Republic will be cut into two with Ijaw and Edo people on one side and Efik-Ibibio on the other. So before you start talking about Niger-Delta 'start asking the Rivers Igbos where they would like to belong because frankly, Igbos and Igboids can confortable secede on their own with no hassles. And when that happens, that's when the minorities still left in Nigeria under Yoruba/ Hausa-Fulani control will really know the true meaning of being "minor".

Have you seen them agitating for this? Have you seen them out on the streets with their flags like the Biafrans? What have they done to show they want some sort of South-South country? They don't even have any organisation like MASSOB or IPOB championing for a Niger-Delta country. If the minority of the SS were actively pursuing their own country, it would fine but they are not.

Of course freedom fighters call for the killing of their oppressors. That's how it goes. Wether they go on to actually carry out that threat is a different matter. No matter what happens Nnamdi, Biafra is here to stay. Torturing or killing him only strengthens our resolve to leave Nigeria and there are many more ready to take his place.
Politics › Re: Why Biafra Won't Succeed by zendy: 2:56pm On Nov 25, 2015
2 things I don't understand about Nigerians. Why do they always think that Biafra is an Igbo only thing? Biafra has never been that way. Even if Biafra was an "Igbo only" thing, why do Nigerians seem to think that Igboland is limited to the 5 SE States? That's like saying that Hausa land is only found in Northern Nigeria but Hausa land actually spreads into Niger Republic, Benin Republic and even Northern Ghana. Igbos, Igbo speaking people and Igboids make up 30% of the population and lands of Delta state and over 70% of Rivers state. PortHacourt is the land of the Ikwere people, an Igbo subgroup. To be frank, the Igbos, Igbo speaking people and Igboids can comfortably secede from Nigeria without any of the minorities in the South-South.

Politics › Re: Port Harcourt was named after a Child Rapist by zendy: 1:33pm On Nov 25, 2015
What about Nigeria that was named after a river? What is it with Nigeria and naming people after something to do with a body of water? They came to the land of the western Igbos and called them "Delta-Igbos", they went across the River Niger and called the Igbos they met there 'Anambra Igbos' after the Anambra River, they moved further south and called the Igbos there 'Imo Igbos' after the Imo River. When we get Biafra, all these names will disappear because we are going back to regionalism with no states.

Igbo is Igbo!!

Porthacourt was named after the then British secretary for the colonies, Louis vernon Harcourt in 1912. Before then, what is now Porthacourt was the farmlands of the Ikwere people of Diobu village. They called the place "Igu-Ocha" although it can also be called "Igwe-Ocha" or "Ugwu-Ocha"

Empty threats? Really? Funny how Yorubas who can't even get to the stage of makIng any threat whatsoever can criticise those making threats. The same Yoruba man has sense of self determination and is reliant on Nigeria for survival. No wonder most Igbos think they are born bred cowards. Yorubas are still 1000 years away in terms of reasoning enough to seek their own country as the Igbos are currently doing now, that's why I don't take Yoruba people serious. They are yet to escape the colonial mentality called "one Nigeria"

fine i am not against your quest for biafra but i just have some few questions to ask

1. if biafra finally secede from Nigeria....will there be enough space for people to inhabit... cuz any igbo living in the south west or north would be regarded as a foreigner and will be sent packing to go to their fatherland..of which they will need to apply for visa to come back....

2. since you guys refer to Nigeria as zoo...and you dont want to have anything to do with the zoo
how will you find a job in biafra since your certificate is from the zoo.....will biafrans have to go back to universities in biafra to get a biafran issued certificate....

dazal for now
just wanna know
1]Lagos state is by far the smallest state in Nigeria in terms of landmass, infact, just Abia state is 4 times larger than Lagos. But the same Lagos has the lagest population in Nigeria with an estimated population of 25 million people. So how can you say that Biafra cannot contain all Biafrans? Just Abia state can contain all Biafrans!!!

2] There are many Nigerians with certificates from all over the working with the same certificates. My own father has a degree from a university in Sierra Leone but he retired with it from the Ministry of Education. There are many Nigerians studying in Ghana, will you ask them to find work only in Ghana?
