Cute doctors naturally attract female gender. There was this survey that was read out on Rick Dees top40 about top 7 professions that women generally get attracted to and want to date a guy from, and doctors occupied #2 position. The reason was that girls are psychologically taught by their parents (esp the mother) to be cared for and pampered,so they are more inclined to want to date doctors psychologically and unconsciously.

This is a rily gud news for doctors and doctors-to-be. But wat i want to know is that is this Medical Service Scale just for doctors working in federal hospitals? or for both state and federal hospitals?, cos i heard it cuts across both state and federal hospitals. How true is that?

@Allycat; Check this, http://www.hhs.gov/news/press/2009pres/03/20090320a.html , The U.S dept of health &human services under the american recovery & reinvestment act made an additional $268million available in march 09 under obama to cut cost of medical treatment/services. The act increase d amt of allotment available frm approx $11.06bn to $11.33bn in 2009. This is just 1 of gov aids towards healthcare in the U.S. Others r medicaid & medicare.

@drI; You're right. If medicine is to be run as a BUSINESS in Nigeria,it will be very expensive and out of reach even for an average nigerian. The healthcare sector of every country is run by the government. So,meaning most doctors will have to work for the government. (I'm yet to hear of any country privatising its healthcare sector).

Long Story Short!!!, DOCTORS should go on STRIKE if there is NO pay INCREASE.

@beneli; A medical career can really have good rewards depending on so many factors. But it won't be a bad idea to have an MBA with the medical degree, It can be used to get an HMO manager position.

@beneli; entry level salary is about N150k - N170k per month. But with an MBA from a top notch grad school, you should earn about N250k pm + juicy allowances. Why did you ask?

@beneli; Thanks for your reply to my post. I think one of the fast-track method to enter the corporate world after med school,is to do an MBA. I'm sure of a woman who holds both the MBBS & MBA and is a top executive at UBA.

wat amazes me is when doctors say there is better pay structure in the northern Nigeria cos of the dire need for doctors (which was really evident frm the 2-full page advert in the PUNCH newspaper mainly for search to employ medical professionals), but N280,000 per month for PhD holders and N83,000 per month for MBBS in full-time positions (Fed scale level salary) is very appalling and so PALTRY. With such salary, HUMANITARIAN.,my ASS!!!

i read an advert in punch today of uni of maiduguri looking to employ MBBS holders (doctors) for N897,000-N100000 pa i.e abt N83,000 per month and the only incentive is a so-called 'passage' (watever that means) for you & ur dependents of not up to 18yrs of age. Same for a professor of medicine (PhD, highest level of medical career) with a salary of 2.7m-3.4m pa i.e N283,000 per month. This are full time positions for christsake!!!

Hello everyone,pls i want to ask that how possible is it to work in the corporate world such as telecoms, banks, oil & gas, consulting firms etc with the MbChB or MBBS degree, (i mean not necessarily doing medical jobs). I learnt bankphb boss saying a few members of his staff are medical doctors having a career change,doing banking jobs. If it is possible,how do one go abt it with MbChB degree??, by writin exams,gettin certifications, or wat?
