Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has sent his apologies to the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr for his poor conduct after he was substituted in Nigeria’s 0-2 loss to South Africa.
Iheanacho was yanked off for Olarewaju Kayode as Nigeria chased an equaliser. The forward strolled off the pitch slowly despite the Eagles trailing, he even had to be hurried off the pitch by a South African player.
He grudgingly shook the hand of Rohr before heading to the bench, where he angrily kicked at a water bottle while ranting. 20 year old Iheanacho says he regrets his actions and linked it to the frustration of playing poorly.
“I wish to apologise too for the way I reacted when I was substituted. I did it for myself because as a striker I should have at least got at least shot on target.
“Unfortunately, I couldn’t do that. That’s why I was angry with myself. I wish to apologise to the manager, the coach and the Nigeria Football Federation for my action. That’s not me.
“For our next game, I believe we will come back stronger and better against Cameroon. I will improve my performance.”

The young man even acknowledged that he had a stinker. Yet you're making excuses for him. If you can do away with sentiments and emotions,you will be a better analyst.

what do you expect him to say, blame his fellow players for their inability to play a simple pass just like Onazi did? Or. Iheanacho should have shoot at goal instead of passing to Etebo. Every good striker will be angry if his team is losing and he feel they can do better. Iheanacho is a winner and hates to lose.

Peeps here running their mouth anyhow forming analyst...for people saying iheanacho is not a striker or top 9, I don't understand you people, this guy came out of one of the best academies in the world a certified 9 and people here be forming as if they know more the the trained personnel whom watched his progress and trained him...or the SE team a hould now be structured to fit iheanacho because he is better as a SS? When the coach was bringing in Oshimen, I told the guy by my side that even if Nigeria bring in a Lewandoski that Nigeria will not score cos I saw that Nacho or Kayode was not the problem but the midfieldn they were very poor.

For the 2nd goal, we had cornerkick which our defenders went to contest which is normal, whose responsibility it is the stand with the SA player, Onazi, he's the shortest of our defenders had no business in the SA 18yard and as the most experienced player on thhe field, he couild not coordinate his team.

Rohr f.up big time, he was changing attackers when it was clear the midField was rubbish, bringing Ogu to sit as a Dm was just what the game needs. Btw Onazi is waste

yea Ejiogu was in Julius Berger, ejide in Gabros

Neither Enyeama nor Ejide had their breakthrough with shorumu as goal keeper trainer, they were all team mate at the 2002 world cup, Ejide was in goal in some of our friendly games before the world cup, he was originally the 2nd choice goalkeeper, I was surprise to see Enyeama in goal against England. Two good goalkeepers one playing for Julius Berger and the other for Enyimba.

Lots of Nigerians home and abroad have been up and doing in their footballing careers.
People have won Mvp in their respective leagues. Some have emerged top scorers in their base.

Opabunmi used to be the poster boy for the 2001 U17s what later happened? Emmanuel Sanni used to be the Mvp, top scorer and poster boy for the 09 U17s, what later happened?
Being poster boy for a youth team doesn't mean anything.

Sinama Pogolle and SOULEYMANE nko? What have they gained since they were the poster boys of their countries at the fifa U17s?
for your info, SOULEYMANE was highly rated in 2011 just like Osimhen, if not higher. How have being poster boy guaranteed his success in the sport?

Opabunmi was even taken to the world cup ahead of more established players because according to some pelsons the guy gat potentials and no one should question the coach decision.

This season, simmy Nwankwo, Fred Friday, Stephen odey, Joseph Akpala, Ighalo, salami, Ajayi, Martins, Awoniyi all have more playing time in their belts than iheanacho. I guess we should call one of them in his stead just so we don't seem biased

Nacho is a first team player for Nigeria, he has prove himself both for club and country so both situation are not thesame, oshimen has done nothing to warrant his invitation in the first play.
When a player who is just returning from injury with no first team experience is being invited to the SE while fans had to cry before Onyekuru was invited, then you know something is amiss

Osimhen signed officially during the winter break and was injured soon after. When would he have had his debut? He only recovered at the end of the season and was immediately thrust into the first team.

Orji on the other hand was fit all season and got his chance eventually.

what's the difference, still Orji played for the main team before Oshimen, had more game time and impact for the main team. Nacho went through similar route, youth team then main team.

and remember the coach and director that bought him have all been sack yet the new coach still gave him some game time when he returned from injury

most people that defend his inclusion do so because of his u-17 exploit. After that achievement, he has not done anything to warrant his inclusion in SE.

I'm suprise that those defending Oshimen inclusion ask "who orji go bench" as if Oshimein fit bench anyone, I just feel hard work should be rewarded. Nacho prove himself in USA and city before he was invited to the SE not his U-17 record.

If anyone from the last U-17set ought to be called to the SE, its orji okonkwo and not Oshimen, cos I still can't figure the criteria for his invitation.

Sometimes I think "experience" is over rated, where was omeruo experience when Rantie boy cripple his both legs or what has experience done in the life of Musa.

I bet you if Omeruo had play the game yesterday, the match would've ended 3-1. Error full the guy body, the s/Africa and Zambia game comes to mind.
