Lagos-based banker who managed an account owned by Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has told Nigerian police authorities that the governor threatened her life. In a letter to the police, Oyetola Oyeleke stated that, in 2009, while working for Guaranty Trust Bank Plc., she had received a call from Mr. Emmanuel, who wished to open a corporate account in the name of Chashar Farms Limited and wanted her to manage it. Ms. Oyeleke stated that, shortly after opening the account, she discovered that Mr. Emmanuel’s Chashar Farms address did not exist. Even so, she disclosed that Mr. Emmanuel made several deposits in the account approximately totaling N507m. According to her, one particular deposit of N300m could not be completed as the account name, and the number did not match. In the face of that discrepancy, Ms. Oyeleke revealed that her boss requested to speak with Mr. Emmanuel, adding that the future governor declined. Instead, he instructed Ms. Oyeleke to keep his account and transactions within it secret going forward. He also reportedly confirmed that the mismatched transaction of N300m belonged to him. The banker asserted that Governor Emmanuel held a private meeting with her, instructing her to move his funds to an account with Ascorp Petroleum Limited. He further asked her to then loan the money from that account to companies at a 15 percent interest rate. According to her, she subsequently loaned N375m through Ascorp Petroleum Limited to a company called Euroflow Designs Limited, an oil service company seeking to purchase a vessel. She stated that, after a contract had fallen through, Euroflow was unable to pay back the loan on the timetable agreed by the two parties. However, she claimed that the company never denied receipt of the loan, adding that the debtor firm sought to meet with Mr. Emmanuel to assure him of their intention to repay the loan. The banker disclosed that Mr. Emmanuel began to track her movement and soon ordered her to transfer his money to Zenith Bank. When she reminded him of their earlier arrangement, Mr. Emmanuel became enraged and threatened to kill her family and her, Ms. Oyeleke claimed. In a twist in the case, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. informed the police that Mrs. Oyeleke engaged in the mismanagement of Chashar Farms’ account, and petitioned for her arrest. Bank and legal documents stated that she fraudulently accessed Chashar Farms’ account and diverted the funds for personal gains. The documents also portrayed Ms. Oyeleke as working in concert with Mr. Emmanuel. On May 25, 2015, Ms. Oyeleke was arrested along with Jimi Bademosi and Godwin Adamolekun, the director and chairman, respectively, of Euroflow. The director and chairman were released on bail the next day. Documents obtained by SaharaReporters indicate that police investigation into the shady financial transactions pertaining to Governor Emmanuel’s account was still ongoing. SaharaReporters attempted to contact Ms. Oyeleke, but our correspondent was unable to reach her before going to press. lalasticlala saharareporters.com/2016/03/17/lagos-banker-reveals-governor-emmanuel-udom-akwa-ibom-threatened-her-life-over-financial |

The Musical" is traveling to the UK Opening on July 22, 2016 at the Shaw Theatre, producer Bolanle Austen-Peters hopes to attract a new group of fans It's big, it's bold and it's politically charged. Brace yourselves: " Wakaa! The Musical " is coming. The hit Nigerian show by Bolanle Austen-Peters is due to transfer to London's West End in July, making it the first Nigerian musical to make it to the British capital. It's no small feat to land a slot in London's world-class theater district, but the sell-out musical by Terra Kulture has pedigree, playing to 10,000 people over twelve shows in Lagos earlier this year. The show was so popular during its first stint, people were offering to pay to stand in the aisles, according to Austen-Peters. That wasn't permitted of course, nor will it be at the Shaw Theater on July 22, when it opens its doors once more. So what can the theater-goers of London expect? edition.cnn.com/2016/03/16/africa/wakaa-the-musical-bolanle-austen-peters/index.html lalasticlala |

Durentt:it's not rubbish mate, a variety of factors determine sexual orientation, like upbringing, environment (prisons, boarding schools)etc, there is nothing like a "gay gene" incorporated into some peoples DNA,. I have seen straight guys become gay and vice versa, so don't tell me it's part of ur DNA or u were born gay, cos if it was, a gay guy can't become straight again. |

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday arrested and paraded a 44-year-old radio technician, Obinna Anike, for repeatedly raping a seven-year-old girl (name withheld) entrusted in his care. The Enugu State indigene, who admitted to the crime while speaking to newsmen at the command headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, said he did not do it for any ritual purpose as was alleged. He said, “I have already condemned myself before anybody condemns me. I am a Christian, so I would not wait till I am condemned by law enforcement officers. I beg everyone who is aware of this case to forgive me. “I did not know the forces that pushed me into this devilish act. I don’t want my church to know about this please. I cannot question God, I don’t know why this is happening to me.I did not take alcohol or any drugs before I engaged in the act. “The parents of the children brings them to my house since they leave for work early in the morning because I am a radio technician near their house. “The children attend the same school with my children. One day, I asked the girl to come close to me and when she did, I shifted her pants and put me penis but I did not penetrate. I poured my sperm outside.” However, the victim who is a minor contradicted his claims, adding that the suspect has done it severally. She said, “He likes calling me fine girl. He did it severally. Last year before the christmas celebration, uncle Obinna called me into his room and warned me not to tell my parents whatever he was doing with me. “He said he would kill me and my parents if I ever said it. He would constantly question me if I wanted my parents to die, but I would say no. He removed my pant and put his thing inside. ” He poured his spit into my thing and put his thing inside me. It was very painful for me. He ‘wee wee’ inside and warned me not to tell my parents. The man used to tell me to turn my back and he would put it through the back.” lalasticlala www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/03/15/lagos-police-arrest-radio-technician-for-raping-7-year-old/ |

President Muhammadu Buhari has been conferred with the highest national honour of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President was conferred with the national honour in Malabo on Monday for his personal integrity, exemplary leadership style and courage to fight terrorism in order to ensure peace and safety in Africa. The honour of “Gran Collar De La Orden De La Independencia” translated “Grand Collar of the Order of the Independence” was said to have been conferred on Buhari by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea at the Presidential Palace. At the investiture ceremony, Buhari reportedly said the recognition was for the people of Nigeria who had worked tirelessly to sustain peace in the country and across other neighbouring countries in Africa. “On behalf of my country, Nigeria, and the people, I will like to express profound gratitude for the honour given to me and my people. The reality of the situation now is that there had never been a time in history for greater neighbourliness, for security and economic stability than now,” he said. The President said the challenges faced by African countries had a common thread, and must be collectively appraised and jointly tackled by all the African countries. Buhari assured the people that Nigeria would always support efforts of ensuring socio-political and economic stability of its neighbours and the entire African continent. Earlier in his remarks, Mbasogo said it was an honour for his country to confer the Highest National Honour on Buhari on his first visit to the country. “We are here to recognise the son of the soil. On this occasion, we deem it fit and appropriate to decorate the son of Africa for the great work he is doing in Africa, which includes tackling a great menace to the continent, Boko Haram, ” he said. The President pledged his country’s support to Nigeria in the fight against insurgency and other security challenges. lalasticlala www.punchng.com/buhari-gets-equatorial-guineas-highest-national-honour/ |

Former Inspector General of Police and Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmadu Coomassie has called for the removal of public office holders’ immunity, to ensure success of electoral process and reduce abuse of office. He spoke at the International Conference on ‘Deepening Democracy Through Elections in Nigeria: An Assessment’ organised by the Department of Political Science and International Studies of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. Recalling the 2015 elections, the former IGP said: “From one source alone, a staggering $2.1billion earmarked for procurement of arms to fight insurgency in the North-east was diverted to secure the electoral victory of the PDP. “Indicators suggest that most government agencies and departments were forced to cough out funds to aid in the electoral victory of the PDP, making it the most expensive election in the nation’s history. “Now that we have a new government in place, which campaigned for and won because it promised change and is therefore amenable for the reform of the whole political processes. We must avail ourselves with the opportunity to make far-reaching reforms that will safeguard this democracy.” On the immunity clause, the former IGP said: “It is time to expunge this immunity clause in the constitution or amend it to give the President and Governors only immunity from civil litigations. “This is one of the many steps that will help sanitise not only the electoral process, but reduce the abuse of office that have become the hallmark of elected public office holders in Nigeria. “As chief law officers, they are expected to be above board. From 1999 to date, this has not been the case. The democratic process has been characterised by impunity, disregard for service delivery and high levels of corruption. “Similarly, the Buhari administration should as soon as possible initiate a major reform of the judicial processes in Nigeria. Nigeria inherited the judicial system from the British at independence and since then, it has undergone minimal reforms. “Matters before our law courts suffer long and unnecessary delays. Prosecutors of criminal offenders suffer great frustrations at the court, especially when serious cases before our eminent jurists get thrown out on simple technicalities. “Strict penalties should be introduced for all electoral offences. After more than 50 years as an independent nation, and after several tries at the democratic governance, Nigeria must once and for all get her acts together. “After 17 years of uninterrupted civil rule, Nigeria’s democracy can no longer be described as an experiment. We must strive to consolidate this gain by not only making sure that our electoral processes are fool proof, but that attempt to tamper with them will meet the full wrath of the law.” lalasticlala dailypost.ng/2016/03/12/acf-chairman-calls-for-removal-of-president-governors-immunity/ |
