What is relevant to you is that the relevant BeschV states that employment does not require the consent of the Bundesagentur für Arbeit (“Keiner Zustimmung bedarf …”) for a foreign national who holds an Aufenthaltserlaubnis and meets either of these conditions:
1. Two years of lawful social-insurance-liable employment in Deutschland, or
2. Three years of continuous lawful/tolerated residence in Deutschland.
So if you meet any of these, you qualify to take up any job in the country without until you find your desired profesional job.
To confirm if you meet (1), apply for your Rentenversicherungsverlauf (pension history). The document will show how many years of contribution you have made to the system.
Option (2) might be tricky. The thing about the option is that student years are not counted fully for this purpose. They are counted by half, with a maximum of 2 years credited. But the period after your studies, once you moved to another residence permit, may count fully. So depending on when you graduated and changed from your student permit, you may already have reached the required 3 years of creditable residence.
Personally, I wouldn't just go to the Ausländerbehörde and ask them to extend the job-seeking permit for a few more months. I would ask them to assess whether either of these two §9 routes applies to you and whether there is a possibility of changing your residence title on that basis. I'm referring to §19c Abs. 1 AufenthG together with §9 Abs. 1 Nr. 2 BeschV.
Nothing is automatically guaranteed because the Ausländerbehörde will still have to assess your exact case, but after spending 6 years in Germany, I wouldn't give up or start planning Canada without checking these options properly first.

Over 30 terror operatives have been arrested in a joint operation on Tuesday across Jerusalem and the West Bank.
The Shin Bet, Israel Police, and IDF carried out the joint operation against an extensive network affiliated with Hamas that planned to carry out attacks against Israelis and the security forces.
Indictments have already been filed against five of the operatives, while the rest are being interrogated as the investigation continues.
Several notable people were arrested as part of the operation, including Rashid Rishek, who was released in the January 2025 hostage deal. Rishek was involved in a stabbing attack on the Temple Mountand was later involved in a plot to assassinate National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, attack a parade, and kidnap soldiers.
Despite his release in January 2025, i24NEWS reported earlier this week that Rishek had attempted to purchase an M16 rifle, scope, magazine, and 50 bullets for only 3,000 shekels.
The other members of the Hamas affiliated 'Shabab al-Aqsa' terror network were Sabih Abu Sabih, the son of Misbah Abu Sbeih, who carried out a 2016 drive-by terror attack, killing 2, Mohammed Abu Sabih, Mohammed Azmi Bakri and Ahmed Azmi Bakri. All five have been indicted on terror-related offenses and charges related to illegal arms purchases..
