Start facing reality. Owerri is a town filled with prostitutes and armed robbers. Onitsha a metropolitan city filled with high profile businessmen, corporate society. The number of banks in Onitsha is thrice the number of banks in Owerri and Imo state at large. Owerri is a rural area filled with poorly paid civil servants while their children are prostitutes and armed robbers. This explains the high level of armed robbery and prostitution in Owerri. Decent people like me cannot live in Owerri just like many other decent people do not find filthy dilapidated, armed robbery infested, prostitution infested and economically worthless Owerri as a place to live. Onitsha on the other hand is the greener pasture for the Imolites who comes to Onitsha to live for a better life. 2/3rd of Imolites are resident in Onitsha, even your big men are all resident in Onitsha...FACT!cool

The difference is clear like night and day.... cheesy

Abagworo:

There's a difference between research and assumption. Onitsha is a village of traders while Owerri is a city of intellectuals. No normal clean person like me can live in Onitsha.

Let us wait for next census for clarification but authentic information proves that Imo State has the highest population growth in Southeast and Owerri is now one of the most cosmopolitan city in Nigeria. In Onitsha only Igbo is used as medium of communication because virtually everybody is Igbo. Owerri airport has surpassed Kano and is the 4th busiest in Nigeria today. I don't know any real big man in Onitsha except indigenes.

The only thing Owerri has over Onitsha is prostitution and armed robbery. Owerri airport is nothing more than an ordinary dirty motor park. Onitsha is a major metropolitan city east of the Niger. Owerri is a mere town populated by mainly few Imolites that stayed back home because 2/3rd of Imolites are resident in Onitsha. There are good population of Yorubas, Hausas, and people from other West African states resident in Onitsha. There are equally good population of Asians resident in Onitsha. Most of the rich Imolites like Orange drugs are all resident in Onitsha. Start facing the reality for once....LOL!

Abagworo:
Owerri looks more like a slum. It is mainly filled with ghettos?

600 million naira Christmas light at it's peak. No wonder Imo state is worthless and useless. cheesy

Sincerely speaking 95% of Owerri is filled with slums and Ikwerre-type houses. I can't imagine any sane person living in Owerri.

This is apt but unfortunately Abagworo will never ever agree with you because of his battered ego. He will rather divert attention instead of facing reality. One can hardly see a decent person that is raising a family in Owerri because the town is more or less a prostitution den. Raising a family in Owerri is as dangerous as raising a family in the lion's den. And explains why one cannot see Igbos from other states in Imo state..

My people, what is all this child like behaviors, we all are Igbos. We always complain about marginalization but we cannot come together as one to fight the common enemy instead all we do is infighting on useless things. As an Igbo person, I will love to see a healthy competition among ourselves and our states. Please its time to come together use our time well if we want to criticize please let it be constructive instead of the name calling.

I don't care about Imo state nor it's people because I hardly know that there's a place known as Imo state. A genuine Imolite poured out his mind but the bastard called Abagworo in his usual manner tried to divert attention instead of addressing the points his fellow Imolite raised.

This was the genuine points raised by the Imolite and we all know that he said what we all already knew. Why then would someone feel bad about this since it is a reality on ground? These are points that calls for a sober reflection and not looking for a way to avoid it..

Incredibleme:
I really do not wish to accept the current trend of things in Owerri. This hotel industry shit is not healthy for the youths in the state. Whats the fate of graduate of engineering and science, where is the industry that can absorb them. As an economics student in my finals, i once wished to relocate from lagos to owerri to contribute to the economic development of my state but i'm having second thoughts at the moment. What is my governor doing to create a productive industrial hub. The only thing imo is known for is its hotel cluster situated in Owerri, (not hating, i'm actually from umuguma near world bank). What about orlu, okigwe, what are they known for. Ohaji/Egbema should have been another bonny island in imo. What about oguta. What happened to our industrial layouts that were birthed during previous development plans. What we see presently are round abouts and vain luxurious decorations that do not yeild revenue.

Go to the clubs of these beloved hotels what you will find there are our youths wasting their parents money. I see pictures upon pictures on Facebook my old classmates from father cloonan boy school emekuku post on a regular basis. It's either in a dance hall or some sort of guest house. The pool of hotels in Owerri is not healthy for youths. I use to think hotel were meant for business meetings and lodging but right now i'm no loger sure. The state of affairs should change. Okorocha should put things into right perspectives. Let him place priority on productivity. If the federal allocation stops flowing in can imo survive? Lets move toward the era of a federal allocation independent state. Productivity is the key. Take a queue from anambra and abia state let's leave out lagos and Portharcourt. These states have been able to take drastic decision on agriculture and manufacturing. Recently abia state gov purchased 2mill palm plants, constructed a textile factory. Obiano encouraged agricultural reforms in anambra. What is imo doing.

Keep it up...

Nice one Abagworo. please concentrate on showing the positives of Imo/owerri. we need more Arial pictures of owerri cos owerri has alot of beautiful house and i can imagine how beautiful the will look from the sky..and please stop this you cat and dog fight with chino. do well to avoid him even if it means not commenting on Anambra threads since its obvious he cannot tolerat anything from you on anambra. Please let there be peace. You and chino make it look like we igbos are not united.

and also owerri has always been beautiful even before rochas, so please stop propagating rochas failures as achievement ( if you know what i mean). we need real development in imo.

the roads in owerri are in a mess, the inner roads are worse, orji, uratta, amakohia, ihiagwa, nekede,World bank housing estate roads are in a mess. if you are close to rochas tell him to fix those roads.

we want industries too, tell Rohas to approach Imo indigenous industrialist to come home just like obiano is doing with anambra indigenes. We can develop our state without outside help..Imo even has an advantage of being a central state connecting three commercial states powerhouse of Anambra, Rivers and Abia. we can take advantage of that but developing our basis infrastructure.

Your write up is political and not sincere otherwise you cannot deny that Imo State is the fastest developing State in Nigeria outside traditional Lagos and Abuja. Rochas Okorocha's focused leadership caused it. As for Owerri it was beautiful but now a lot more developed and finer. In the past people were trooping from Owerri to Port Harcourt but in the past 2 years there has been a reverse migration with even Rivers indigenes relocating to Owerri which was unheard of 10 years ago. Gradually we shall get there.

You mentioned inner streets. Owerri has the best inner streets in Nigeria if we compare with all major metropolis. Ihiagwa and Nekede need good roads too and I heard work is ongoing there but they aren't Owerri.

good pictures, I think what owerri needs now is a proper cbd with restrictions of 6floors buildings and a handful of high rise buildings and Douglas road must be demolished whether devil likes it or not

I would have been mad if the airline is managed by government, operated by Dana is a good bargain, it will surely increase air traffic to owerri, runway light must be fixed in owerri air port to allow night flights

Misplaced priorities, please create good enabling environment like extending the length of the runway, good landing instrument and standard terminal building a good highway and good incentives a private operators we move in. Governments are not in the business of running businesses, that is my opinion.

Let's be sincere for once. Imo State cannot have more population than Enugu and Anambra States because there are no reasonable opportunities in Imo State compared to those other two.
