The Oguta Lake Hotel project by Owelle Rochas-led government is great. Ikedi Ohakim played games on Chief Arthur Nzeribe - his right hand man - for four years on Oguta Wonder Lake project, but little or nothing on ground after the Ohakim four years.

One would wish Owelle's government provides sustainable surface running water supply scheme for Orlu zone, as has long been tried, and can easily be realized soon by any willing IMSG top leader
in the two other senatorial zones in Imo state. Private water boreholes can never make a town. Owelle-led government needs to provide a dependable surface water supply scheme for Orlu and its suburbs as proposed by Mbakwe, first and foremost.

People thank Governor Okorocha-led government for its desire to give face lift to other parts of the state outside the state capital. Orlu urban LGA must be approaching or above 400,000 human population now. Therefore conventionally, Orlu needs to have a state-sponsored (not private)higher institution of learning. I hope Owelle gets to agree to that, else, we are breeding a less educated population in Orlu and its environs; while people in other parts of the state (Okigwe and Owerri) pay very much less to have their wards educated in the numerous higher institutions located nearer their homes. Now that there are many other universities and polytechnics in Owerri and ABSU nearer to Okigwe, having Imo state University permanently located in Orlu is not a privilege, it is a right. The need to have justice and equity in Imo state calls for that.

Well, it's safe to say beautification and 'proper' construction of township roads is not amongst Uncle Rochas' priorities at the moment.

It wouldn't take much to make Owerri a really beautiful, fresh, green and welcoming city, as the groundwork/foundation has already been laid by Mbakwe.

Seeing dirt build up on roads makes me so angry as it shows the authorities just don't give a fuc/k at best...and at worst, it shows they don't know what it takes to maintain a trully world-class city; also the mode of constructing township roads has to be revisited....this open-gutter thing is outdated and has to stop; i guess some of the roads we're seeing would have been built during Ohakims tenure, so i'm cutting Rochas some slack....but he needs to maintain and clean what is on ground until such a time as when the state has enough funds to reconstruct them.

Finally, there should be a massive tree planting campaign for the parks and road sides, to give the city a lush green ambience and soak up some of the carbon dioxide; and if they can't trim and maintain the grass properly, then they should concreted the over.

One thing Owerri needs is a couple of flyovers at strategic/busy intersections for easy flow of traffic (kinda like we see in Uyo); in all Rochas' plans for Imo, i don't think i've come across his plans for Owerri and how he intends to take it to the much needed next level.

Now this is one place i'm completely happy with: Obudu cattle ranch; Imo state can borrow a few ideas from here for Oguta lake resort.

Some bonus footage of Lagos and Abeokuta towards the end.

Rochas is really doing some great job. But 'am not happy with with the tiny structures being built at the oguta lake. Again the place shouldn't be built for lodging only, other fun facilities should be put in place. I was thinking such a place should be developed with state of the art facilities to attract tourists.

^^^My sentiments exactly! Oguta lake resort is being underutilised, and has not yet witnessed the kind of public/private investment that will best use its location as a tourist and conference centre of repute.

There was a plan/render i saw some months back of what they hoped to achieve within a Public/private initiative, but i've not heard anything about it ever since; i'll see if i can find the link or pics.....it's precisely what i have in mind for the place.
