dexter is from showtime, mate!

What?! I have been watching dexter since it's inception and the first sign that appears before every episode is the HBO logo materializing from a grainy screen.

Check again dude, and realize your mistake.

Whoops! Just realized my mistake. You were right. It's showtime. I missed it up with another HBO show he played the protagonist, 6 feet under! But Damn, those two premium channels have a lot in common with the similarity of the productions they are churning out.

Don't read the books until at least the end of the current season or the next one. I'm saying this out of concern for your happiness. If you watch the tv series first, you will enjoy it a lot and your enjoyment of the books will be increased when you get to them because you'll have images to go with the words and because the book is so much more enjoyable. It will be like having a double orgasm. However, if you read the books first, you won't enjoy the series as much because the series will inevitably be dull compared to the images formed in your mind while reading the books. Moreso, the author of the books is a very slow writer. It could take him 5 - 10 years to release the next book. So there's no reason to rush to the books yet. You will have plenty of time for it after the series. If you must read the books, try to stop at book 2. Book 3 is the best one, so you would want to experience it on tv, this season and the next. Books 4 and 5 are quite dull. So please, pace yourselves!

Well said, I read the books first, and it made the film not so interesting for me, I even picked a few mistakes in the plot of the movies but all the same, which ever you can lay your hands upon first, be it the book or the movie am sure it will make your time and money worthwhile

Oz was great, but it paled in comparison to Fox's Prison break.

OMG! How could I had forgotten The wire? One of the most realistic cop vs criminals drama of all time! Hate how they murdered the nephew of Avon Barksdale though. I think Idriss Elba was fantastic in that series, as well as the protagonist Dominic West.

But as for saying it's the greatest show on tv...uh huh. There are better cop shows on tv nowadays like Blue bloods, Southland and the best of them all IMO, The Shield.

But to be fair it's somewhere in the top 5 of the greatest ever cop shows on tv.

Believe me, you will enjoy the series better than the Novels. I had read the books, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the creativity of the geniuses behind the series production.

There were no mistakes in the plot, it was deliberate. You can't possibly expect the tv version to be exactly like the novel version, do you? There has to be some Innovations here and there on the script to kept the audience interested. If you had read the walking dead comic and watched it on tv, you would get where I'm going.

The series is actually more interesting, because of the factor of unpredictability going for it right now.

Season one was epic, but season two started to deviate from the real story which is terrorism into a love story, which really pissed me off. I'm not even sure that I will bother watching season 3 whenever they start doing the shootings.

As for the best series ever it's still Game of Thrones and followed closely by Breaking Bad.

You said it all The wire is all about realism in the police system. The romance of criminals with the the clergy and politicians. Most of all, I love all the 4 versions of the theme song- way down the hole.

funny I didn't notice any deviation or any serious character that was cut from the series though I read the 1st three books a while ago.

Oswald Penn ko? You seem to have forgotten about Sona in prison break season 3 where anything goes. Where you can only stay alive if you are strong or smart enough.

Oz was a great show like I said before, but it wasn't as addictive and entrailing like Prison break. It may have more character development more than the later, but pales in plots and story line.

Saying that Oz is better than Prison Break is tantamount to saying that Spartacus is better than Game of Thrones, and we both know that ain't so.

Oz was great...totally! Since I watched it,I knew prison break was just more publicity compared to OZ..
And above OZ is "The wire"..different story though but definitely best quality (in my books). Best show ever.
Game of thrones, Breaking bad are the best shows around now though

Like I said before, Oz has more character development than Prison Break, but where as it gets boring at times, Prison Break is choc full of adrenaline.

I agree with you on Game of thrones and Breaking bad though, they are actually my two favorite shows on tv right now.

sona my white butt!
how many prisoners died in sona? how many psychopaths were in sona? how many prisoners got crucified? was there any incident in sona where a prisoner got his face defecated on? prison break is a fantasy show - it does not express the realities of prison where gangs and groups operate like mafiosos.

it's too addictive - i have all the 6 seasons and i watch them time after time. some of the quotes on it would make shakespeare or churchill green with envy.

spartacus is better than game of thrones - oz is light years above prison break.
like i said, oz is more than a TV show, it's a ground-breaking idea in the world of television shows. whoever wrote prison break had oz in mind and copied some of the ideas on oz.

Are you for real?? Now I'm pretty certain you haven't watched Prison Break season 3, because if you had you wouldn't have written those.

Just because you have an emotional connection to it doesn't make it the best show or addictive to everyone else. And what quote are you talking about? If you want quotes, then watch The sopranos. Oz on the other hand reminds me too much of Spartacus when it comes to the crass, and unrefined style of expressing themselves. A kind of show I will feel embarrassed watching in the presence of
My mother.

And here we go again...

How could you honestly pick Spartacus above the epic Game of Thrones Series. While Spartacus gained notoriety through it's no holds barred approach to story telling, Game of thrones actually captivated the world by it's authenticity. Little wonder why year after year, the later is collecting countless awards, the former is continually been ignored. Who wants to honour a violent soft porn tv series anyway?

Picking Spartacus above Game of thrones tells me alot about your taste, which is sadly IMO, not very objective.

Are you shitting me? There is no way in the 7 kingdoms that you seriously believe Spartacus is better than Game of Thrones. Westeros is the creation from some one's mind while the arena is real history. No comparison there. Look at all the fantasy fiction out there: Lord of the Rings (+ the hobbit), Harry Potter etc. They are all epic. Spartacus, while good, is mostly blood and gore, building on from the success of 300.
