Frostyzone:
Are you for real?? Now I'm pretty certain you haven't watched Prison Break season 3, because if you had you wouldn't have written those.

says the person who didn't know dexter is from showtime......prison break season 3 is the only prison break season i kept because it had more realism to it. i am absolutely certain i saw it way before you did.

Just because you have an emotional connection to it doesn't make it the best show or addictive to everyone else. And what quote are you talking about? If you want quotes, then watch The sopranos. Oz on the other hand reminds me too much of Spartacus when it comes to the crass, and unrefined style of expressing themselves. A kind of show I will feel embarrassed watching in the presence of
My mother.

that's because you are pre-pubrescent!
if you are still worried about what your mother would think watching TV shows then you shouldn't be watching it. there's realism and there's fantasy. prison break is fantasy - oz epitomises the life in american prisons - the gangs(aryan brothers, negroes, christians, muslims, latinos, bikers, celts, etc) any prison show that does not depict that should not be taken seriously.

And here we go again...
How could you honestly pick Spartacus above the epic Game of Thrones Series. While Spartacus gained notoriety through it's no holds barred approach to story telling, Game of thrones actually captivated the world by it's authenticity. Little wonder why year after year, the later is collecting countless awards, the former is continually been ignored. Who wants to honour a violent soft porn tv series anyway?

fantasy vs realism - which should people buy into?
what made spartacus lose his vibe was the death of andy whitfield - the viewers had connected with him in season one and his loss did a lot of damage to the viewership. spartacus' season one has more substance than anything game of thrones can provide....people watch shows to pick on one liners and great quotes, not the growls of imps and lannisters. mention one memorable quote on GOT.....abeg, go and sit down with your tunnel-vision!

Picking Spartacus above Game of thrones tells me alot about your taste, which is sadly IMO, not very objective.

nah - it says something about yours - it says you just watch based on the CGIs the producers have been able to fuse into the show or the number of weird creatures in them. i am about the characters and the dialogue - not some fantasy known to harry porter fans. you are still a newbie in this TV show business......learn fast and stop spewing baloney!

mention one memorable quote on GOT

There are several actually.

Sandor (The Hound): Any man dies with a clean sword, I'll ra.pe his fu-king corpse!

Cersei: The gods have no mercy, that's why they're gods.

Varys: I've always hated the bells. They ring for horror, a dead king, a city under siege. A wedding.

Tyrion: Those are brave men knocking at our
door. Let's go kill them!

Cersei: Tears aren't a woman's only weapon The best one's between your legs.

Tyrion: I much like my head. I don't want to
see it removed just yet.

-Bronn: Do you know how to use that?

-Tyrion: I chopped wood once. No, actually, I
watched my brother chop wood.

-Tyrion: I'm the captain. If this ship goes
down, I go down with it.

-Varys: I'm sure many captains said the same
when the ship was afloat.

Those are only but a few. There are more epic ones that I will post later on.

Here are some of the epic ones;

Eddard Stark: The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword.

Grand Maester Pycelle: A dying mind is a demented mind, Lord Stark. For all the weight they're given, last words are usually as significant as first words.

Jaime Lannister: People have been swinging at me for years, they always seem to miss.

Tywin Lannister: It's the family name that lives on. That's all that lives on. Not your personal glory, not your honor, but family.

Tyrion Lannister: A Lannister always pays his debts.

these are memorable quotes? i laugh in doctore!
batiatus alone made more sick quotes than these ones.....are you kidding me? the only character on GOT that would walk into the spartacus set is the imp......the others are as bland as saliva!

Lol! Batiatus was insane with some of his explicit quotes, but it doesn't make one think. It only amuses. Game of Thrones on the other hand is full of insightful quotes.

It seems like you hate Game of Thrones for your own reasons, but it is really a great series. Very original and totally unpretentious, unlike Spartacus.

i don't hate game of thrones - i saw the first 2 seasons and i was particularly impressed with season 1. in my opinion, season 2 was mehhhhh but i am watching the current season. it's corny to compare GOT with spartacus. people tend to underrate spartacus because of the sheer nüdity and the raw violence but beyond those are dialogues that would make you fall in love with engish language. words put together so intelligently it would make shakespeare grin in his grave.....

batiatus' quotes should be etched in gold......some are explicit some would just make you go bonkers. i have missed his character so much. he talks with so much aura to make you look beyond his despicable leadership. he's not the only one, his wife is world class too so are many of the characters on the show! you cannot compare both shows - spartacus wins on dialogue alone and the unusual english language they spoke on the show.

You made a very strong point. I have to agree with some of what you wrote. I do enjoy Spartacus because of it's raw and uncensored dialogues and excessive nudity and violence - I'm not a saint after all. And the Gods of the Arena remains my favorite season of the series, particularly because of the strong acting of Batiatus.

But I disagree on your view of Game of Thrones second season. It may not be as action packed as the first season, but it's more educational. To me it had more substance, because it actually made clear about some unresolved issues of season one.

Bottom line - Both shows are good in their own ways, but Game of Thrones edged out Spartacus on the bases of originality and creativity alone.

It's more internationally accepted than Spartacus would ever be.

Quite disappointing, although they seem to be making headway. It was nice seeing Lady Catelyn. I'm glad she's realized how cruel she was to our beloved Jon Snowe. angry

Also, Sansa. Never liked that girl, but I'm glad she was able to confide in Lady Margaery and her hilarious grandmother lol. I can't wait for Lady M to marry Joffrey. cheesy

Let me just leave this here. Spartacus has nothing on this.

Great Houses of Westeros. Abode. Sigil. Words.

House Arryn - The Eyrie / The Vale - Moon and falcon, white upon a sky blue field - "As high as honour"

House Baratheon ( Youngest of the Great Houses) - Storm's End - Crowned stag, black on a golden field -" Ours is the fury"

House Greyjoy - Pyke - Golden kraken upon a black field -" We do not sow"

House Lannister - Casterly Rock - Golden lion upon a crimson field - "Hear me Roar"

House Martell - Sunspear - Red sun pierced by a golden spear - "Unbowed, unbent, unbroken"

House Stark - Winterfell - Grey direwolf on an ice white field - "Winter is coming"

House Targaryen (Oldest of the Great Houses) - Dragonstone - Three headed dragon, red on black [the three heads representing Aegon the conqueror and his 2 sisters (and wives)]. - Fire and blood

House Tully - Riverrun - A leaping trout, silver on a field of rippling blue and red - Family, Duty, Honor

House Tyrell - Highgarden -Golden rose ona green grass field - Growing strong

These are just the Great Houses, 9 of them, meanwhile there are hundreds of minor and lesser houses like the House Frey etc. The level of intricacy and detail in Game of thrones is probably only exceeded by books/movies like Lord of the Rings. The genealogy of each house is provided in detail. Spartacus on the other hand...........................?
