For the most part the new Rules are a welcomed breath of Fresh air to sanitize the chaos that has creep steadily over the years. after all, Fraudsters, Trolls, Ethnic Mongrels and Tribalists can only breed a lot of Negativism that can ruin Nairaland for a lot of Nairalanders as well as the Business called Nairaland.

I do have a Strong Resentment towards RULE 17 which is a sour offense in most civilized societies where Freedom of Speech is Sacred and Defended Aggressively.

Rule 17. Don't post anything that could be considered offensive to Islam, especially in the muslim section.

While most accept that Nairaland has a significant Social Leverage on a good number of Nigerians (home and abroad). What most fail to understand is that Nairaland is purely a Business-focused, Business-driven, Capitalist-enshrined forum. In the end, its survival is based on how well the Business owner Manages its Social Reputation and how important people view it in their daily lives. This is the reason why RULE 17 is the most SHAMEFUL, SPINELESS and irretrievably SELF-IGNORANT act of "Social Sabotage" that we see in Nigeria (online and offline) these days. While the Civil Liberties of every Nigerian is catered for (on Nairaland) you are allowed the Liberty to Express your Right to Freedom of Speech in anyway you see fit (under the watchful eyes of the Mods as some idiots do become unreasonably disagreeable).. the rubber-band of patience is not as elastic when it comes to the issue of Islam and Muslim posters.

This is not because ISLAM is a Religion with Special Rights/Liberties that are not accorded to hundreds of Religions allowed to be practiced anywhere in Nigeria, or is it a Religion of some Higher Knowledge that makes it far Superior to other Religions. it is simple the FACT that anything that is not in line with the ideology of Islam 100% anywhere in the free-world, is deemed OFFENSIVE TO ISLAM and must either be Aggressively met with the Threat of Violence and as evidenced, actual Crude, Barbaric and emphatically Murderous Violence. You need no argument to recognize this FACT. You need not look further than our very own Nigeria.

In summary, Nairaland is kowtowing to Political Correctness rather than Wholesome Truth in all its Untainted,Bitter and Passionate glory.

Now you know the real reason why RULE 17 was created. It is a creeping danger we are either to afraid to confront or too ignorant to notice. The more Freedom we handover to the Religion of Islam, the more Right it claims to Authority it does not have.

I am sure I am not alone to say This Banner of Violent Threat should be seen for what it is and removed from Nairaland.
I am dead certain, the above will cause Offense to Islam and I shall be summarily banned for an undetermined period. I feel this is okay as I have not been murdered and violently threatened.
Thanks and Peace in the Middle East.

Seun. Abeg review ur rules please. 80% of what you are ruling out is what makes me come to Nairaland frequently o. With these rules u will definately make Nairaland lose its Fun. And when their is no fun... U will lose users like me. And wen users like me are lost, u will lose your "visit per day" and wen "visits perday is lost" u will lose....

love_life: Of all the crap i've seen on Nairaland, rules 14, 15, 17, 20, and 21 is the height of it all.

Search the forum before creating a new thread??
*Why not also say we should upload our Nigerian passports to prove we are Nigerians before we can post a topic? Sheer STUPIDITY!

Don't attempt to post censored words by misspelling them??
*How about this... FORK YU Seun!

Don't post anything that could be considered offensive to Islam, especially in the muslim section.
*Is Nigeria an Islamic country or is Islam the only religion in Nigeria? Of all religions to give preferential treatment to, ISLAM should be the one This your logic is SO SICK!

Cooperate with the moderators, super-moderators, and administrator. Treat them with respect.
*there are only two ways to get respect from the public: you either earn it from them willingly or command if from them with the use of superior force or violence. Now, respect from the public is better earned than commanded, unless we are dealing with the military, and the last time I checked, Nairaland is not a military organization.

Always post in proper English. The use of correct spelling, grammar and punctuation is compulsory.
*So a Nigerian chatting on a Nigerian blogging forum can't do so in Nigerian local language abi? Ori yin ti daru men!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I think it's fraudulent and malicious that one cannot delete his account on Nairaland. I mean it's just unheard of that someone who signed up on a public social networking site can't delete or deactivate his/her account at will. This is another crazy anomaly about Nairaland -an annoying one. Just for this nonsensical nonsense of unrealistic nonsensicality that is the embodiment of your rules, I cease to be a member of Nairaland henceforth!

DELETE MY ACCOUNT immediately, since you guys have deliberately omitted or removed this module from being accessible for members.

If you dont want us to mispell censored words, then replace the last two or three letters of the word with "***".
I will break that rule because I don't understand why a word should be replaced with "unmentionables".

@seun, why the special treatment to islam? Did the muslims pay for their own section? You have the right create a special section for a fee for anyone or group but don't restrict it.

I think most of the things in the rules should be thrown into the trash bin.

There shouldn't even be rules, all he needs to do is to employ more Mods to hide bad comments....If he create jobs for jobless ppl in Nigeria like Ikenna. it will help the nation cool

I doubt that the insults will bother him. He has seen it all before. This is just another chapter in a long running story.

There was once a time when Seun was the sole mod. People kept breaking the rules and Seun couldn't enforce them. Things got so bad that he had to shut the site down for a day or so. Then Muki volunteered to moderate the site.

There was almost a riot when Seun introduced the word filter (again people threatened to leave the site).

People threatened to leave when Seun banned some popular stock market analysts.

Someone even created a website with a similar name (I won't mention the name, because I don't want to get banned).

There was the 2007 civil war (Diaspora vs Home).

There was the rebellion when Seun threatened to ban the use of the words "Islam" and "muslim" on nairaland.

There were the "get rich quick", multi-level marketing and wonderbank scams (Seun even had to create a thread to warn people about them).

There was the garri rebellion.

Nairaland has survived all of them and will survive this one.

Seun has to enforce rules to ensure that there's order and because he is the only publicly known member of the forum.

honestly there is nothing wrong in setting a rule-but when they favour some group and do not favour another-then it is no longer a RULE!
It is 'favouritism'-that is being BIAS!

I am sorry to say this-if all these do not bother him-then NL is not worth staying or visiting-if u are a leader-u have to listen to people's opinion!
Its shows that he doesn't have the interest of NLanders as long as he is making money!

Smh
