billante: You know this will turn political and you went ahead to deported them very close to the election, why didn't u wait until after the election!

The deed has been done and it has affected Ngige chances at the election, no amount of your coloration and fence mending explanations can repair the damage.

Another time think before acting.

How does not voting a potentially better leader for your state, your own house affect Governor Fashola? Who will suffer from mediocre or bad governance? Is it because Ngige is in the same party? You Ibos can be very funny for now you are advising that your leaders be hypocrites by doing things for political gains or not do it because it may cost them politically! If you like cut off your nose to spite your face, it is your problem! The South West leaders will always make decisions in the interest of their people, their lands and their heritage FIRST! There is no apology or approval seeking from any guests on the land, if guests don't like it let them leave immediately!

I dont know why you people see wrong in what Fashola did. Why cant those 14 people or 72 people go to their villages and farm? Must everybody live in Lagos? it is not in our culture in Igbo land to beg so why should sending 72 beggars home to go and try some other means of living be a problem since they have not been able to succeed in Lagos? Na wa for una o. Unu kwusi ime nkpotu biko. FASHOLA, I AM AN IGBO MAN AND I WISH TO SAY THAT YOU DID NOT COMMIT ANY CRIME OR OFFENCE IN WHAT YOU DID. I SUPPORT YOUR ACTION. Thanks.

Igbos on this forum should be careful how they attack Fashola on this issue of deportation. This is a governor that has an Igbo as one his commissioners. And there is one issue Igbo commentators on this issue has not raised up, and that is the issue of the action taken by the Anambra state government officials when Lagos State govt officials wrote a letter to them. Did the officials of Anambra State govt behave as if they were representing the interest of Anambra State and Igbo people, by the way they responded to the request by Lagos state govt officials to come to Ikorodu and meet the destitutes?

Some people may not understand the issue that I am raising here. One of the problems with Nigeria's public service is that the people that are supposed to be public (or civil) servants sit in their positions only to pursue self interests. They don't care about the interest of the public that they are supposed to serve. This neglect of the interest of the public is the sickness that is killing the Nigerian nation. The officials of Anambra State liaison office displayed this sickness in the issue at stake. I still seriously doubt if they considered the matter serious enough to communicate it to Gov Peter Obi, which is why Peter Obi was ignorant of the whole thing. If the Lagos State govt had written to inform them that they were conferring some honour on Emeka Offor and so were requesting them to be at the occasion, they would rush to be there. But for destitutes, what is in it for them?

This Fashola is evil. This Fashola has no shame. This Fashola is satanic.

How can he so shamelessly lie about the number of people deported?

The deportation happened on 24th July while the news broke on 25th July,
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/70-persons-deported-to-onitsha-from-lagos/

todays date is August 3rd, so how come it took Fashola almost 2 weeks to realise that number of those deported was not actually 70 but 14?

Before this statement by Fashola, one of his aides had already reacted to the deportation, claiming the state govt only re-unified the 70 deportees with their Families in Anambra
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/news-metro/128410-fasholas-aide-defends-deportation-of-67-to-anambra

How can Fashola so shameless lie despite the mountainous evidence, eye witneses and testimonies?

What lie will explain the dumping of people on the road, around 3am, in dead of the night as attested to by numerous reports, including:

"One of the destitute, Mr. Osondu Mbuto, from Ohaozara in Ebonyi State and a petty trader in Lagos, had told journalists that they were dumped at about 3.00am on Wednesday morning at Upper Iweka after being detained in Ikorodu, Lagos, for over six months for alleged wandering and other minor offences by the Lagos State Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officials.
They were brought to Onitsha in four buses, escorted by anti-riot policemen.
Mbuto said he was arrested by the KAI officials while going to his shop on December 18, 2012"

fashola is a dump ass.

Why didnt he consult the igbo leaders before the deportation
why didnt he wait till after the election before he took that silly decision
why didnt he wait for the exchange of correspondence to be completed and understanding reach first before the deportation
why didnt he drop them at govt house in a daytime

and this is someone some people say should come and be our president.

Bros no go run mad o! You do not expect Fashola to dignify every manufactured hogwash with a quick response. Most media houses reporting the 'deportation' saga have given conflicting figures 67, 70 and 72. Simply because no investigation was carried out, they only relied on 'hearsay'.

Fashola's aide did not confirm the numbers of those 'deported'. Read the report again, I am sure you do not have comprehension problem.

Why did Obi and Anambra State Government not open up that there were series of exchanges of correspondences between them and the LASG, inviting them to come and have their own assessment which they failed to do? That was in April, Obi never expressed his grievance in any of the exchanged correspondence. Does it portray Obi and the Anambra State Government as responsive and responsible? If I am to apportion any blame to Fashola, it is dumping them in the middle of the night but not on the repatriation exercise. Rehabilitation and repatriation of destitute, vagrants and beggars is a commonplace in most parts of the world. A/Ibom and FCT also use that policy.

The fact remains that Nigerians were rounded up, detained in horrible conditions for months and arbitrarily deported. First, indigins of Anambra state are being sceptical on how to vote Ngige under ACN(ofe mmanu backgrounded). Now they are compounding it for him by adding boko haram to it APC(ie,ofe haram or mmanu boko). You can imagine Tief Tinubu Buhari combination. In fact, Ngige hold Fashola responsible for your failure in this governorship race. So many compounding issues after claiming NIPP project and the improved light situation in some parts of Anambra state recentely. Ngige IPY (l pitty you). Igbo kwenu
