striktlymi:

I think I agree with this because if members are to vote, they should at least know who they are voting for. This may mean setting up a monitoring group to handle stuff like:

1) Multiple id identification.
2) Ensure voters are active posters here.
3) etc

That may be for categories that have to do with members (i.e people). If there is a category that will require a review of threads e.g best thread for the year (just saying) I believe other individuals can easily review the nominated threads and cast their votes. This may be open to outsiders. Outsiders might not get to nominate the threads but voting may be permissible with respect to this category.

What do you guys think?

Comments please!

Okay, cool!

Do we do this by nomination? Each sect (Christians, Pagans, the irreligious etc) can rally round to get say, 3 members each for the committee?

Guys what do you think?

Suggestions needed!
Re: Religion Section 'awards Night' by ooman(m): 6:32pm On Oct 13, 2013
Striky, you can't just have a 'best thread of the year', you have to have a best theist, atheist, agnostic, deist thread of the year...

I quite agree that there is a need for multiple awards.

What are your thoughts on the other ish of 'disenfranchising outsiders' with respect to my post?

The bold is beautiful...I feel like kissing you for that suggestion. We may probably give them a honorary award in appreciation for the good work they did over the years.

Keep the ideas coming.

Thanks man!

Alfa Seltzer:

The same rule that applies to newly registered members should apply to non participating members. Infact I think that a newly registered active member has more legitimacy than an old inactive one. So they shouldn't have more restrictions.

Sounds cool!

I am still expecting suggestions on the make-up of the panel (if there will be one). Any thoughts?

Don't think we can really do justice by labeling some 'outsiders'. The fact that many don't post here doesn't mean they aren't always here and know what goes down here...

How do we define outsiders? Because guest can not post here already....

Anyone apart from HBG. Too corrupt. She has shown this too many times. I challenge anyone to disgaree

Ajibam is too new
Obadiah could care less- the armageddon is coming soon.

So, I nominate
Striklymi
Obadiah (a mod is needed)
Manmustwacc (veteran knowledge)
Reyginius
tobechi

Some women should be added......they can nominate themselves

Um..I believe it has to do with 'disenfranchising' members who are regulars of some other section. Say sexkillz coming here to vote when he aint a regular here.

Keep the award limited, then distribute the few chosen among the different 'ethnic' groups, that's the idea...

Cool nominees...

I am quite sure some peeps wouldn't want to be part of this because they might be up for nominations in the elections proper. In order to put their fears to rest, do we separate planning from those who would be involved in the actual elections?

At least with this they can contribute actively without being relegated to the background in the elections proper. I won't be part of the elections so I can be involved in both but the others might have some reservations.

What do you guys think?

Those on the Panel can still be nominated, but votings should be handled by different people. Some who isn't a regular here, someone who knows nobody here grin Maclatunji
