u have said it!! this black man thinking will not let us reach our promise land.african countries have projects around that will turn us to the tokyo or the dubai we have been dreaming of....slow but steady..we just need to put all hands on deck and drop our religious and ethic difference , fight for the nigeria , ghana , sa and africa we want to see....I can't believe in this century we are still advocating for some of the same things slaves to freedom fighters noticed and complained about .if we as africans have been cooperating u can imagine how far we would have gone in terms of development and trade. ..just look @ the ecowas region.. Ghana and nigeria trade more with asia and european countries and less with ourselves..and some brag about it. Now the bring in EPA and everyone is vexing. The fact remains that south africa is architectural better than any country we have in our west african sub region.. But we don't need to bring the south africa blacks down.. Live and let be.. Even. Some of the whites have move on with them cos that's their only home..what more the blacks.. The blacks there have had their own misery that if it happened to us here it might have been another case,, their feat should just serve a a wake up call for us to build a powerful system and and plan the nation to be what we have envisioned.

I'm all for fighting this black man fight. As far as I'm concerned they should bring it on. Nigeria is the greatest the rest of Africa is crap. I'm tired as a Nigerian always trying to fight African battles when all they do in return is badmouth Nigeria and hate Nigerians. The African has a jealous heart, I've come to realize. It is not a thing common in Nigeria where people celebrate other people's wealth and want to get on themselves. I think that jealousy is a childish trait just like being quick to anger. In Nigeria these traits are teased away from you while young. I believe that in much of Africa where colonization has destroyed many indigenous cultures, kids grow without the informing benefits of culture so that like in Europe where Human rights legislation and liberalism has deprived parents of the rights to bring up their kids with deceplin, the children grow into adulthood retaining the childish traits such as jealousy and uncontrollable temper.

I will never live in Eko Atlantic city but as a Nigerian I'm happy for it to be the best of things. Also the idea that somehow Igbo people hate it is ridiculous. People with all sorts of agenda, posts, using the anonymity of the internet , everyone knows this. All sorts of people live in Nigeria and know Nigeria, so lets not conveniently overlook this and pretend that what people claim they are -peppering the lies with a bit of local knowledge - is what they are.

Nigerians love posts on Eko Atlantic city -whether they have economic or environmental concerns or not- so would it be too much to ask the poster to continue and not be sidelined by the foreigners, trolls etc.

[b]R3bn development for Mthatha gets a green light and approved by the city's authorities.
By SIKHO on July 7, 2014 in News · 2 Comments
New opportunities expected as authorities give green light

A PROPOSED multi-billion rand development project earmarked for land near the airport will be the biggest to ever take place in Mthatha. This forms part of the cities urban renewal.

PHASE 1
UMTHATHA WEST
The multi-use development will include conference facilities, a cinema, five-star hotel, up-market residential complex, sprawling shopping mall, bus terminus and taxi rank and a casino.

PHASE 2
UMTATA CENTRAL
The second phase will be funded by the ECDC and government will include office precincts and new CBD.

Dubbed the Mthatha West Mixed Use Development, the project is expected to cost R3-billion over a period of 10 years.

It is the brainchild of Mthatha resident and local businesswoman Dr Lexie Ceza.

Ceza said she had acquired the land earmarked with the help of the department of land affairs and the venture had the blessing of traditional leaders from four different municipal wards near the airport.

“We have been given the go ahead from all the relevant authorities and right now are just looking for funders,” said Ceza.

“People from the Transkei have been crying for something like this.”

Sagie Naidoo of Colonial Capital, the company appointed to manage the project, said construction was expected to start in earnest sometime next year once bulk services had been installed on the land.

“The project is really at an advanced stage at the moment,” he said, adding that they would not be able to release further details now.

Despite the airport having been in existence for many years, most of the land surrounding the facility has never been developed.

Mthatha city bosses have given the go-ahead to the development.

King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) municipality spokesman Sonwabo Mampoza yesterday said the local authority was excited about the project as it would provide job opportunities for locals.

“That is a very beautiful piece of land out there and this is the type of development that will certainly enhance the profile of this area,” said Mampoza.

“We are highly appreciative of this as it will give more opportunities to a lot of unemployed people in our area. Unskilled and skilled people will definitely benefit.”

Mampoza also lauded the positioning of the planned development saying it would offer easy access to everyone, even tourists visiting KSD.

“People want development which in turn breeds job opportunities.

When there are jobs, then people are able to put money in their pockets.

“This will have a positive impact on the local economy.”

VENTURES AFRICA – A number of analyses suggest that the largest African markets in 2020 will be Alexandria, Cairo, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Lagos. Each of these markets are likely to have more than $25 billion every year in spending and can be comparable to Mumbai or New Delhi in India. A number of smaller African markets, including Ibadan, Kano, Dakar, are also likely to develop consumer markets worth $10 billion per year.
The consumer facing sectors in Africa will largely be responsible for this growth, these sectors include the likes of telecommunications, consumer goods and banking. A combined $860 million was spent on these sectors in 2008 and it is projected to increase to $1.4 trillion over the next five years if real GDP continues to grow at current pace. As household income grows, consumption will increase in retail banking, telecommunications, food and beverages, and housing. This will, in turn, spur more consumer markets large enough to be attractive to more multinational companies; in many ways, this looks like a virtuous cycle.
To become more mature and viable, Africa’s markets need lots of Infrastructure and this is an opportunity for companies and investors. Africa still has huge power, transportation and water gaps that will require upwards of $70 billion invested in infrastructure per year to bridge. This can be achieved by concerted efforts involving African governments, African and international businesses and investors.
Once this is handled, Africa’s economic fortunes will skyrocket. By 2040, Africa can be home to 20 percent of the world’s young people and will probably have the largest working‐age population.
