@askj...welcome dear, feel free to comment, practice d project and my job as d admin of this thread is to make u enjoy Ur stay.

Our new project is a simple dress I saw on genevieve, it's simple, classy and so me.

I will be making mine as a wrapper and a cape blouse cos d fabric is too beautiful to be just a LBD dress. It's a sequined stretchy net fabric.

Wat do u you think house?

So peeps....wat are we making? dress or wrapper and top like mine? We can make both if u want...so let's gear our view..
Happy sunday.
Re: DIY (do It Yourself) & Sew Along by oduamine: 11:56am On Feb 08, 2015
lets make a dress the iro is much too easy.
Re: DIY (do It Yourself) & Sew Along by Nobody: 1:21pm On Feb 08, 2015
Yes dear, we can make d dress or both like I said, want mine to be wrapper and top with d cape, d process is d same just the length of d top/dress is different.

Others common...lets hear Ur views.

what we need..

Fabric (something with a little stretch and sequined)
Lining
Zip (optional)

Measurement..
Shoulder / back
Shoulder to nipple
Shoulder to under bust
Armhole
Waist
Nipple to nipple
Hips
Waist to hip (distance)
Length (blouse or dress)
Half length (if u want it to have a cut at Ur mid body)

Tutorial for d blouse.

Fold ur fabric into two (like to cut my front and back separately)

Measure length of Ur blouse / dress, Ur shoulder, and add 0.5 to 1inch allowance, then measure Ur neck....a allowance is to fold d neck and d sleeve, then remove 0.5 inch from d shoulder (lengthwise).

Measure Ur shoulder to Ur nipple point, rule, measure Ur shoulder to Ur under bust rule, then Ur waist mark and measure d distance btw Ur waist and hip mark, and measure d circumference of Ur hips mark.

For a fitted blouse and dress with princess cut, from d under bust create a dart to meet at Ur nipple point and ends at d middle of Ur shoulder to Ur armpit.

For d back if u are putting a zip for a fitted look use d same method taking note of Ur zip allowance, measure from Ur nape to d narrowest part of ur back length wise, u can tie a ribbon on Ur waist for dis, Mark on Ur fabric and remove 0.5 from Ur back to create a better fit and avoid zip puffing out.

Go through dis then d cape will come in later and more explanation.

Wrote all dis in a rush to avoid delay as dis new week will be very busy for me...
Re: DIY (do It Yourself) & Sew Along by Nobody: 1:24pm On Feb 08, 2015
This is a rough sketch, read through to see if any of what I wrote makes any sense to u, will send more details later.

Also copy this link for past explanation ...page 2 of thus thread.

Basically most styles are repetition of our basic bodies modified to suit different designs and we don't have to go over them all d time. In d next few weeks we will choose a style and we all will do it and send our finished work and those that have issues or difficulty will ask questions and get answers.

Wat do u think?

pls how do i go about doin the princess cut? and from what points to what points do i sew the darts for a gown? and how do we cut this type of hand?
Re: DIY (do It Yourself) & Sew Along by Nobody: 12:36pm On Feb 15, 2015
@askj most of d design we do are repetition of existing basic bodice blocks, and princess dart point is taking from Ur normal dart point to your nipple point and ends at Ur mid armhole. For Ur dress dart, start at least 1 to 2 inches below Ur nipple point and d length can be btw 6-8 inches in length.

D style foes have a sleeve it's a cape (flare) neck that give an illusion of a sleeve.

To get d cape, after Ur dress shoulder is joined, don't turn the neck of ur dress, measure round d neck of ur dress...from front to back, use that figure to cut Ur cape (flare).

Check our previous pages for how to cut Ur flare

kemesty:
The back panel is straight, just add dart allowance and zip allowance. The line on the image at 5" mark is the dart line, i 'm using half inch for the zip allowance.
For the peplum, fold your fabric into four parts, divide your waist by 4. Mine is 37÷4, then add sewing and zip allowance cos your zip will run through, else ,you won't be able to wear the dress. And cut out.
Measure the lenght of the peplum. That is ( length of entire blouse minus the half length of the blouse you have cut. (26-16)=10 + sewing allowance.
P.s: cut your peplum in circular pattern as shown in the image.

pls could u do a laymans explanation on cutting the back blouse cos im a total novice in this and i dont understand your post on it.
