The Lagos State Government has declared its resolve not to use any drug other than the American ZMAPP for the Ebola patients in its custody.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr Jide idris, disclosed this on Friday.

As at Friday evening, it was still sketchy if the drug has arrived the shores of Nigeria.

Dr Idris said the Nano Silver being suggested by the Federal Government by a Nigerian scientist is a natural health product and the state is not ready to take chances with the health of the patients at all.

“Should we have access to ZMAPP now, right away, we will start the administration on the patients.

“We are attending a meeting soon with the Task Force on Ebola to know if the ZMAPP drug is available as stated by the Federal government,”Idris said.

Meanwhile, Idris disclosed yesterday that First Consultant Hospital where the first case of EVD occurred would be reopened soon.

This, he said, followed the mandatory three rounds of state certified decontamination process.

He said the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Clinic, was shut after the detection of a confirmed case of the disease at the facility.

He said the state would facilitate the decontamination process of the clinic, adding: “25 patients and health workers at the facility when the case was detected are presently under surveillance.”.

Everything to them is just politics

Now I understand what GEJ meant when he said voting PDP will bring FG closer to that state.

This action confirms that FG efforts to partner with APC states is being frustrated

So Lagos state APC government rejected Nigeria's found Nanosilver simple because America told them not to accept it?

Where is the brains of these APC people? Why won't they use there brain for once?

Africa will remain enslaved to the evil western world unless, we change and let true love lead.

We have to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery to take charge of our destiny.

In Africa, WE HAVE THE PEOPLE, WE HAVE THE POWER, THE WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE TO LEAD THE WORLD BUT BITTERNESS AND HATERADE WON'T LET US GROW.

Please someone should tell Fashola to stop his level of stupidity and madness. He should ignore America that hates Nigerians.

It's not necessarily about politics. It's about a slave-master relationship in which the Nigerian government sold Nigerians as slaves to the West, such that they only believe drugs approved by WHO and the likes. Instead of taking time to experiment on nano-silver, a drug known to destroy even the deadliest bacteria, the government rejected it. It rejected it! Even if it was eventually found not to cure the disease, the specialists could still study the way it inhibits viral replication and mutation in body cells and possibly develop something similar that can destroy Ebola virus. See, this is often the result of not investing in research and technology in a country. The government does not encourage our scientific geniuses. Around 2010, a nigerian medical doctor developed a cure for HIV. He was beguiled here and humiliated by our health officials. WHO asked him to state his formula but he insisted saying, "until Coca-cola state theirs, I won't mine". They took him to US for 'investigation' and since then, nobody heard of him again. Similar case occured in 2012, only this time it was Paul Orhii, NAFDAC boss that humiliated with inordinate hysteria a prof.of Igbenedion university. Nigerians are one of the most intelligent people on earth, the only problem is that they are barely encouraged. Every sector in this country called Nigeria needs a revolution.

Lagos should provide an alternative if its not ready to use Dano Silver, or continue waiting for American ZMAPP, which Obama is not ready to give Nigeria. The commissioner should be reminded that Zmapp couldn't save spanish priest life.
Why can't they test the drug first before rejecting it.

All we can do is wait for Amaerica's ZMapp with questionable effectiveness?

I don't want to believe Nigerian medical experts have not suggested different ways of managing this disease.
We are a people in serious trouble allowing dense people run affairs for us.
Check the websites of the so-called research centers and ministry of health - redundant, no communication portals, not working!

What is difficult in inviting those who claim to have solutions to this problem to present them with sound scientific evidence and facts regarding the disease and how the drug/therapy would bring about desired effects?

Instead, everyone has sat down, open eye waiting for US to send Zmapp.
Make una dey wait!

So the so-called research labs cannot even carry out a test on a monkey? Abi another 'high-powered' committee to go purchase monkey is still in the developmenal stages?

Some people mumu no be small!! What concerns APC and PDP in matters of health? Or is that how partisan your brains have gotten? Zmapp has been tested on both monkeys and humans and has proved to work with side effects. Now you want the government to give this new drug that has neither been tested or has no success track record on nigerians? Do you know the side effects, you people are advocating nigerian ebola patients be used as lab rat, and when they are and there is catastrophic after effects even worse than ebola, who will help us? Who? We don't even know the name or company of this fictitious "nigerian scientist in diaspora" that sent the drug. Since we're so desperate as will try anything, why don't we get all our ebola patients into a lab and start injecting them with every chemical compound we can find. Who knows, one might work.

Your government came to you and said a "nigerian scientist in diaspora" donated this drug. Who knows his name, his company, which country exactly is he in?....when you administer an untested drug on patients and rather than cure the virus, multiply it and even make it airbone, who will you run to?

Is the US FDA the only Food and Drug Agency in the world? Why didn't other nations see Nano-silver as a "pesticide"? What is wrong with our people? Okay! Are we gonna watch them die one by one? A LIFE SPENT MAKING MISTAKES IS NOT JUST HONORABLE BUT FAR BETTER THAN A LIFE SPENT DOING NOTHING! Apply the drug, if the victim dies, we look for another way around and develop! If he survives, good! Without mistakes there won't be success!

Marking Nano-silver a "pesticide" is an elitist monopolistic agenda to feed off poor West African countries! It has been like this since time immemorial, we just stoop so ffucking low that we seem already buried.

Sugomu. When scientist were busy making headway in research, your so-called Professors were foolishly telling you bitter kolanuts was a vaccine for ebola.

As if the foolishness was not enough, you all foolishly again believed salt and warm water was a vaccine.

Now what this time? A pesticide?

From my knowledge of nanoscience and the nanoparticles that have been synthesized in my laboratory, nanosilver is a good pesticides and I have not seen in any literature where it was used to treat viral diseases. I will only believe the drug to some extent if the drug is to be administered in vitro rather than in vivo.

Right decision from the Lagos State Government.

How the hell can you take a nutritional supplement like product and spin it as a 'cure' for Ebola? That's like someone marketing Forever Living supplements and saying its a cure for Ebola.

You see a drug that has never been touted as being under development to treat Ebola, and you want to adopt it when there's no verifiable info that it has ever been tested with any efficacy on mice or even monkeys.

The people celebrating this Nano Silver rubbish are not any bit less dumb than those who were using salt water baths.
