DanjaNinja: Hello House,How una dey?

Quick Question:

A friend of mine wants to know if its feasible to be granted the American student Visa using a Global Pathway Preparatory Program I-20. According to my friend, this Pathway was recommended by his admission agent and Only TOEFL is required. From the little i could gather from our discussion, i think the Global pathway program is an English Preparatory program for those whose first language is not English. I really dont know a thing about Global Pathway or how it works and i have strongly advised my friend not to patronise agents as all information regarding admission are available online. Please house, if you have any information on this Global Pathway thing, i'd be glad if you can share it.

Thanks.

Some people got their visas through pathway programs, and some didn't. The deciding factor is the "story" of the applicant. Why does your friend want to come to the US through a pathway program?? Undergrad or Grad??

Thanks for your response. He's applying for Grad School...The summary is he doesn't have a choice. His sponsor insists. Thats why he came looking for me. He was wants to know if the pathway program would affect his chances of getting a VISA given that V.O's would assume he wants an easy way in. Also, he wrote the GRE (310) and TOEFL (112). He's a pretty smart guy but it seems he has no say since he his not self funding. Anyways, can you please share more information on this issue or should i send you a pm?

Quite unfortunate! I just checked the global pathway website, and they can help him apply to some schools. I don't know what the option is like, but he should ask them about that. It is better to have the I-20 of a "real" school, BUT as I said earlier a pathway program doesn't automatically disqualify him. He just needs to prepare very well for his interview, give the VO a VERY GOOD reason for picking a pathway program, and pray.

$218 for a 46hr trip with stopovers. Not worth it. A flight ticket should be just about $100 more.

If you have a drives licence you could also do car rental for 24hrs. Its way cheaper.

Car rental out of state cheap? It's not. Hidden surcharges will kill you, even as a premium member. Check Zipcar or enterprise.

PS: They will ask if you're going out of state or not, so that they can charge you more for extra mileage covered. There's no way you can cover up because your initial mileage will be recorded.

I see you've got a good sense of humor. I told you, I have principles. I can't go out with someone who smokes and tattoos on her body. No matter how beautiful she is. I grew up in a good christian family and there are things I cannot do. My parents would not be happy to hear or see me with such a girl. Take back your Spanish stuff. cheesy I would find a homely girl when I come.

I know what you mean... I fell for it in my first rental. But my second one, I declined all the insurance and fancy fancy name they called those gimmicks they used to collect money from me, she beg me tire I said no I don't need it. At the end na small money I pay. I even declined Toll fees...when I got to a toll, I explained myself to the extra nice attendant and paid my $1.25. My deposit was returned to me intact.

Guys please I need advice.

My department has promised to fund all applicants with Graduate assistantships.
However when I completed my application to the graduate school, the international admissions specialist said i should submit a statement of financial backing before he can admit me and forward my file to the department for approval. I don't have the money stated on the form.

Now I emailed my departmental chair about this problem and he said I don't need to submit a bank statement and that all I need to do is sign the empty form and return it back to the graduate school.

Now the guy in graduate school is insisting on the bank statement while my department is insisting I don't need it.

I don't know what to do now to clarify this matter. I'm tired of mailing the grad school guy. Its as if I'm disturbing the guy.

Guys please what steps should I take.
Thanks for any input.

Interesting! In all honesty, the graduate school has a sole right to make decisions on your application and not the department. So to be sure of an admission, you just have to send your statement of account to the school. Meanwhile, promise is just merely words and it could be broken. But I don't wish it happens. What about if the school or department decides to terminate the scholarship? What do you think would happen? So please do what the school asks you to do. Get your I-20 and proceed for your interview. Wishing you the best of luck. This is my honest opinion though.

the bank statement is needed to show proof you can fund the programme at least for a year.

Even if you got a GA, you still need to send the bank statement to show you can fund the programme

We are on the same page. You just have to get it, man. 2 days ago, before my dad accepted, he was like, "Dude, are you kidding me?! This is huge!" I later explained to him that all I have to do is maintain a good standing.

Bro, talk to people.

That's not even the issue. I'm afraid if I submit that form with a statement of account, that's what will appear on my i-20 rather than an assistantship. And that would be going against what my department is telling me to do.
The thing just get as e be.

We're here. Hey, which do you feel more comfortable with? Company or family sponsor? Did you tell the school that your dad is the owner of the company?

No, that's not true. Once you're offered an assistantship it will be noted on your I-20. Mine was actually indicated on my i-20. Except they've not decided yet on the assistantship and if when they do and you're awarded, a new i-20 will be sent to you.

You need to send down a statement of account. I was offered assistantship and was required to send down my proof of finance by international grad admin. Do the needful and stop arguing with the two quarters.
