While GEJ supporters and his army chiefs may choose to deny the story, i am 100% sure that it happened. Whatever smoke that has been rising in this regime has fire underneath it and they keep denying. A soldier confirmed the story and actually placed a call on speaker to confirm from some of his boys that he got information that were involved. The two he called confirmed that they have deserted but have decided to return. Although this article claims 480, my informer said only just above 80 soldiers deserted. Nigerian soldiers are begining to lose morale because of the realisation that the Boko haram is an obvious conspiracy. Nigerian army is one or the best in Africa but cannot handle Boko haram, thats an irony. While the less capable Cameroonian army has seriously dealth with Boko haram on their own side, Nigerian army cant for no obvious reason other than the fact that Boko is better armed and somehow manage to get funds and intelligence from no obvious where. 1 Like |

This should really be the last warning to all of us in Nigeria. if we do not get the government to tackle Boko Haram NOW, they might get out of hand and the consequences would be calamitous. |

Anyways I blame him partially cos if it was to be OBJ, all northern states for don be charcoal from Air strike by now. Mtchewww No doubt GEJ faces assault from those determined to undermine him but we are all witness to how he will not even do the minimum to get Nigerians on his side. We only see him supervising the unconscionable looting undermining the ability of our armed forces to confront and overcome terror. Did GEJ and the PDP not continue to tell us they know who the sponsors of terrors are without anyone been brought to book? Is this not the main reason the guns of Boko haram are getting bigger and more sophisticated? I.e their 'known' sponsors and backers remaining at large and doing damage arming the street-level combatants? What has happened to Senator Ndume till today? Did GEJ himself not say that Boko haram has "infiltrated every level of my government"? Have you then seen any arrest? Is this how to overcome terrorism? Please, the time to see GEJ as a 'victim' is long gone. Now it is obvious he is a man only interested in power at all cost regardless of how terrible things are becoming for Nigeria. You forget that it is very easy for a 'disengaged' and self-serving leader to be apathetic to all the deaths he is personally detached from. This is exactly what is happening with our President who fiddles and chases his own political agenda while Nigeria burns. GEJ's own myopia will be his undoing. 12 Likes |

btw this is just comming in, i don't know how true. Why 480 Nigerian Soldiers Defected, Cameroon’s Role – JJ, Omojuwa reports ?The BBC reports that some 480 Nigerian soldiers have fled into Cameroon following fierce fighting with Boko Haram militants. This has since been confirmed by the Cameroonian Army spokesman Lt Col Didier Badjek who said said the soldiers have been disarmed and were now being accommodated in schools. The Nigerian Army was planning to court martial them and send them to firing squad over what it deemed as mutiny. The soldiers decided to cross over. They have been disarmed and put in a classroom in the Maoua Area of northern Cameroon. The Cameroon information minister has confirmed it. They are the soldiers who refused to fight last week until they are better equipped. All 480 of them. They were stationed in Borno state. Cameroon’s role appears to be a form of diplomatic support because they could have rejected their appeal to defect. Cameroon closed its borders last week but is now allowing defectors into its territory. omojuwa.com/2014/08/why-480-nigerian-soldiers-defected-cameroons-role-jj-omojuwa-reports/ |

PointB: In any case when soldiers defect, they move from one opposing army to the other. In other words, Nigeria is at war with Boko Haram not Cameroon, hence our soldiers can only defect from Nigeria Army to Boko Haram terrorists, not join Cameroon's Army.Keep on believing the topic is arrant nonsence, where does it say they defected to the Cameroonian army, it say they fled to Cameroon meaning they are seeking asylum in Cameroon so as not to fight BH. 1 Like |

Gbawe: Pls substantiate your claims your mouth remain Shut till Eternity. If SSS pick you and request you give details of those who looted 18B USD, hope you will be able to give facts? If IBB, Abacha, OBJ has continually serviced Naija weaponry, we will be near up to date. The first set of renewals came under this government. Some are of the opinion some forces want is the return of Naija armoury to the North so that BH can seize it for final full scale war and I am sure this won't happen. The govt bought some weapons recently from the US and Russia which is been transfered to our Armed forces at the moment. It is so funny that most of our Army signed up to earn a living rather than standing to be counted for Naija's Territorial integrity. 1 Like |

@ topic, i remember sometime this year when i pointed out that our soldiers do not have the necessary weaponry and skills to combat the Boko Haram men and some members here were bashing me, asking for evidence to buttress my claims. Here you have it... If our soldiers have the latest weapons/gadgets and skills at their disposal, they wouldn't be running away. You can not just send these men to the war front to go and die like chicken without even adequate provisions to cater for their families/dependents afterwards. They are HUMANS like everyone of us whose natural desire is to keep living whether the going is good or not. I do not blame them. They did the right thing. Atleast let the whole world know that our soldiers are not adequately equipped to handle these insurgents. I would do the same.... 3 Likes |

cirmuell: i hope this is what it is That report is even worse than fleeing from the battle zone! If they fled, it shows that they were taking orders before the fire-power of the opposition made them run. If they mutinied, it shows that there is no control of Nigeria's troops and the chances of defeating Boko Haram is slim. Either way, it is very bad news. |
