What point do you think he was stressing when he said that how can I have coal but can't have my own electricity because another man said I shouldn't...then sited example with US...before saying it won't take more than 3months discussion to discuss how to have a union that will give credence to "we the people" as preamble in our constitution...
Then demand for a change in constitution? If that is denied then take it to world court. This is not a solid ground for a breakaway.

The US Congress? Why not the UN? The last time I checked, it's the UN that guarantees self determination for countries, not the US Congress.

They need to lobby for international support before going in front of the UN.

Because of the manner in which things have been structured in Nigeria it has become exceedingly difficult for progressive policies to be pushed through. Meanwhile, Sharia law was passed almost immediately after the restoration of democracy.

If the nation as a whole cannot be made to function in a reasonable manner then the nation should be divided in two - let the progressive peoples go their own way.

Don't split Naija please

Naija has never been ONE. Hatred, Tribalism, Tribal and Religious Killings. Nigeria is just running on a borrowed time. The people holding it knew that it will one day crash, that's why they are stealing every steal-able while they can.

Were you in Limbo when the Nigeria state refused every call for structural change and increased derivation (50%)? The Nigeria state has shown time and time again that it is not shifting its ground on maintaining the fraudulent status quo.

But Naija split long ago when northern Nigeria Boko Haram chased away non-northerners from the north of Nigeria.

That was after 12 ,northern Nigeria states adopted use of sharia criminal laws which include stoning women to death for adultery and chopping off hands of petty thieves, etc.

Boko Haram has consistently maintained that it is fighting for a country friendly with sharia criminal laws.

Only solution to Boko Haram violence is give 12 sharia states their own sharia country.

I surely did, but in the context of a break up, I dont think it was a strong argument. Look at how Scotland fought for a change in the constitution this year, and you will see more can be done on that front.
Sorry, I am bias towards the union of the whole southen region so there.

Our twin bogeymen of Tribalism and corruption rear heads again, Hydras that multiply and become more and more. Some proposals more "chop I chop" rather than clear direction, confusion from nation states that never existed previously trying to create themselves in a new image.

How can tribes that operated on the clan level want to break up to the Tribal level? The only united entity immediately before British Colonialism was the Caliphate which had very little of the middle belt and basically co opted the Hausa City states which before them had Kano as the most important, What we know now as the South East was a loose confederacy at best, the Delta was even more piecemeal, Yoruba land was in the depths of a desperate civil war over autonomy, slavery and trade, Lagos was sacked by the British backed by the Egbas.

Yet now we speak of breaking Nigeria up. Aude Sapere, break it up till when? Who will lead the Igbo? Will an Ekiti man follow an Egba man? WIll an Ibadan man live in peace with an Ijebu man? Who will preside over an Ijaw council? A nomadic tribe that never had a major city? Will Kanem Borno who till this day do not have an Emir in Maiduguri follow the Sultanate? and spit on their freedom and history, Or will Kano decide they want a "fresh start" outside the influence of the current Sultan. Where does Nassarawa, Taraba, Gombe go? Nupe and Borgu form a bendel kingdom and will Bini rule over Ishan again?

Best thing for us is a federal system, non centralized with a figurehead president. Let every LGA (not state) every LGA should administer itself, and let the states provide some Guidance, states should not be split by Tribe (just encourages the the worse of the bogeymen, at least corruption never led to genocide)

Think for yourself and do not fall for what the narrative says.
