Eddygourdo: do you think your suggestion is wise? if the south south oil is used to develop other region to the state of sustainability, then when regional federalism comes, the south south government will be shareholders in the IGR of the different regions that they developed to sustainability. |

Re: Mature Igbo Minds.. ..... Let's Mingle by Eddygourdo(m): 3:55pm On Nov 24, 2015 |
VickJames:not so, it is unfair to the north to not develop them for sustainability knowing that revenues from the north funded the exploration and development of the oil. Every region must be developed with the oil as it's Nigerians property today, after we have set the foundations we call for a national conference to discuss true federalism, I tell you that most will embrace it, and if any region seeks seccesion, such should be allowed to go, it's an amicable and equitable solution in our quest to either true federalism or seccesion |

ruggedboy01:this is why the igbo speaking regions of the south East must align themselves to be politically relevant in Nigerian politics at national level, if we had done this long ago, we will have sons and daughters in important positions at federal level, unfortunately the ipob agenda is not well thought out, but such platform is also a means for foreign support and fund generation. If terrorism can find funds, why not a noble cause like the Biafran dream |

Eddygourdo: @Eddygourdo, I applaud this initiative of yours. Let me lay on ground some suggestion........ About 6 years ago, leaders of thought in the South West (Governors, Industry Captains, Religious Leaders, Politicians, Activist groups, Traditional grounds and other interest groups) converged at Grandview Plaza in Magodo Lagos with a sole purpose - SW REGIONAL INTEGRATION. A body was created called Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission http://dawncommission.org/, a development body aimed at fostering regional integration agenda of the States of Western Nigeria, comprising Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo States. The sole aim was for the six South West states to chart an Soci-Political and Economic path for themselve into the future. Some of the outcomes of that meet was the formation of strategic teams to look into and profer the strategic plans on the way forward, namely 1. Increase in spate of development and support across these regions. "The governments of the Southwest regional States of Nigeria-Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo agree and are committed to a common set of development strategies across all spheres of existence i.e. economic, technological, social, educational, human capital for the Region and its indigenes. " 2. Rapid Infrastructural development - e.g. A South-West joint investment in Rail lines that connects the 6 states, hence accelerates movement of people and goods 3. Increased open access to trade.. 4. Special emphasis on Agri-Business...... 5. and more Some relevant links 1. http://www.osundefender.org/?tag=south-west-regional-integration-coming-together-to-surpass-awos-legacy 2. https://www.facebook.com/TheYorubaPeople/posts/285767788195883 3. http://nigeriapoliticsonline.com/southwest-regional-integration-agenda-is-not-political-famakinwa/ 4. http://thenationonlineng.net/regional-integration-should-be-devoid-of-politics-south-west-leaders/ In the strategy document, the Yorubas had taken a thorough self assessment and have identified their strengths and weakness. Recomendations have been made to states, especially in areas of their competitive strengths. This I suggest is what the South Eastern states can also do. It is not rocket science...........and the secret is that, at a time in the future when we all cannot but accept the necessity and practicality of regional autonomy, the south west hopes to arrive as a very viable and immensely wealthy region, having viable commercial and prosperous activities (Commerce, Banking, Telecoms, Trade, Oil and Gas, Agric, Entertainment, Education, Technology...name it) |

ruggedboy01:Mr tonyebarcanista has his opinion and with respect to the rules of this thread it should be respected, though I agree with you that the overflogging mention of oil is a moot point, even the SS will not survive if they don't diversify if they decide to form 's nation, the south East has the advantage of diversity because we have oil and gas too albeit in smaller quantities, but we are also capable of developments not based on oil. This areas are the areas I want us to deliberate on. |

@mapet may God continue to replenish your knowledge and bless your efforts. Thank you for that suggestion. The problem with it is that unfortunately for us, our SE leaders are sell outs and selfish, they lack common sense vision and that is unfortunate, the type of discourse you stated above which the SW have done, is what I want us to do here as intellectuals in igbo land, yes we are not governors, yes some people say we are not intellectuals, but it's going to be our widows mite in contribution to our utopian dream. This being said has brought the real intention of this thread, what are our challenges in the SE, how can we benefit ourselves, what are the solutions we can proffer towards achieving a vision, let's give opinions and speak freely without fear of judgement |

Eddygourdo: You are Igbo but you are not in full comprehension of who the Igbo man is.. Igbo man is one who love his brother more ťhan himself Igbo man is one who shares his wealth with his family and community Igbo man is one who hide from his brother when he couldn't look at his face and help him out of his situation Igbo man is one who married a wife and treats her like a queen We Igbos loves ourselves so passionately and without any questions. Some elements in Nigeria knows this very well, and considering their age long Igbophobia has decided to plant discord among brethren making you to feel that your brother whom is dying of love for you actually hates you, thereby putting you in caution mode and as a result vent for fault at any slight provocation. I hereby encourage every Igbo son to identify these elements each time they arebsighted and disregard their sermon and shame them. Every human on earth has challenges and we Igbos are human too...but our good overides our weakness. We are Igbos, we are proud, we are blessed. 7 Likes |

Zinicc:if you say all the above and believe it to be true, then it's really unfortunate, when last did you travel home, I don't know if u are old enough to join your umunna, but if you are what type of issue do you handle there, why are there Igbos who dread going to their villages like plague lest they are done away with, why couldn't the entire SE support ojukwu during his presidential campaign despite being the perceived igbo leader, how can you come here and say things you know isn't true, the igbo people are never one, they never speak with a common voice and their disarray is a major reason the British never considered them as leaders post colonial era, they had no credible system please read you history, this thread is actually meant to address such division unlike the divisiness you are trying to preach, it's a thread seeking solutions, it's a thread seeking oneness amongst the Igbos, it's a discourse on the way forward and not a bandy of shenanigans that reveal hate or distrust. Cheers |

I have come across some Nigerian who are not proud of their etnicity and I would be the one to rebuke them and encourage them to up-their-head about whom they are. I really doubt the is not, but if he is Igbo then they really got him with Nigeria washing. |

This thread is meant for right thinking adults to air their views, no man or group of persons can Acheive growth without constructive criticism of his current state, if you say am not igbo, so be it, this topic is on the Igbos and people of like minds have contributed positively to it, you can either join the band wagon by saying your piece or you can throw insults my way and make unfounded accusations, if I was yoruba mind you I will be contented and have no business in a thread that clearly asked for Igbos. Let's carry on though. I need more insightful discourse on subject matter |

You are worthless to your parents(when you find them), you are worthles to your community (if they ever recognize you) and you are worthless to yourself(that is if you have eaten today) because only hunger and frustration can move a man around so easly like this. Eddygourdo: EUROBOMBER: ruggedboy01:There is NOTHING that cannot be achieved if a group of people UNITE in a COMMON GOAL. Gen 11:5-9 [5] But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. [6] The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. [7] Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” [8] So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. [9] That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth. With visionary and patriotic leaders in the SE and with UNITY and COOPERATION, a seaport can be built; in fact, there is NOTHING we cannot achieve because the last time I checked, we all still spoke the same language. Unfortunately, the crop of leaders we keep producing in the SE are as clueless and as selfish as they come, and this doesn't even aid unity or cooperation. 2nd Niger Bridge Since I was born, I have constantly heard of Igbos clamouring for the 2nd Niger Bridge (2NB) from successive administrations and it has always been used as a bait to hoodwink the Igbo nation by every single administration. So far, only GEJ came close to actualising that promise, but then, he still treacherously had to wait till 2015 elections to start the project. Furthermore, in the signed agreement for the 2NB, the proposed bridge will be tolled for 25 years when built because it is a public-private-partnership (PPP) and the FG supplies only N30bn for the project. A Now let us carefully examine this project, for the past at least 20 years that Igbos have clamoured for this particular bridge, are we saying a regional cooperation of the core Igbo speaking states could not finance this project even if it is on a PPP basis?.... I know it is not ideal for states governments to take over FG responsibility, but if we carefully peruse historical records, never have I heard that a state built a federal road for instance and the FG did not pay back. Even at the height of the conflict between GEJ and Rotimi Amaechi, the FG paid back every dime which was spent by RVSG in constructing the Rivers State section of the PH to Owerri Road. That is a systematic way in which states have forced some federal projects in their domain, unfortunately the Imo state government did not think of it this way, hence the Imo axis of the PH to Owerri road is still a mess. Seaport Now there's been a lot of back and forth politics going on concerning the siting a seaport somewhere in the SE or at least, resuscitating one of the seaports in the old eastern region. I strongly believe that if we had visionary and selfless leaders who know what it means to be leaders, together with cooperation from the SS leaders, we should have been able to force out a functional seaport in the eastern zone from the successive federal governments. In the event of a failure of the FG to comply, a regional cooperation between SE and SS leaders (governors, Senators, Ministers, Reps etc.) can definitely force the FG to give an approval and a seaport can be built even if it's on a PPP basis. Unfortunately, we only have leaders who go to Abuja as hustlers with the sole aim of lining their personal pockets, and when the blame eventually comes to them, they secretly deceive the youths that it is tribal/regional marginalisation from the other regions. |

Just that we have bunch of idiots as leaders ...I think there is thus Igbo guy that designed the rail for Iran we can call him We need a speed rail that will link Igbo cities from agbir to Owerri then through pH . this will terminate at the proposed port We should also plough back our profits home Thank boko haram and oba lagoon statement as you can see this has seen igbos investing home We can also focus on ICT let's leave oil. Our gas reserves and coal can power these industrial revolution We can do this |
