Dedicated to girlhaley, opianoay, jojothaiv

While they were driving, Pablo tried to talk to Kemi twice without success as she just mumbled some incoherent words to reply him. He was thinking of ways to talk to her when she started humming to the song playing on the radio, it was a song titled he leaves you cold by passenger, that was his ticket. "So you listen to passenger"? He asked hoping that he had gotten her where he wanted and he was happy with the reply... "of course" she replied him.

"You don't look like that kind of girl, most girls I know like either WizKid or Davido"

"Those people are noise makers, if you want real lyrics, you hear the likes of passenger, Adele, and Emelie Sandé"

"Wow! You really know this people"

"My brother is an upcoming musician, so staying with him has its advantages"

"Hmmmm, tell me more about your brother"

"But you said you are his friend"?

"Of course, I just want to know more about him, you know Tope likes hiding things now" he said hoping that she believes him

" Yes o brother Tope and his secrets ehn, I love him sha, he is really trying for me and Mama"

"Who's Mama"?

"My younger sister"

"What about his girlfriend's"?

"Brother Tope doesn't even like girls, he has one new girlfriend I think, Blossom that's her name, she's fine ehn, and I heard she is rich, do you know that she gave Tope a new iPhone but my proud brother rejected it"

"Wow!" Pablo was getting to like the girl and her expressions. He was almost at her street so he cut the conversation. "So we are already here,"

"Yes Mr Pascal, thank you very much, God bless you"

"Please call me Pablo or Pascal is just fine"

"Alright I think I like Pascal"

" Before you go give me your number"

"Errrm I don't have a phone"

"Wow, fine girl like you, should I get you one?

"I'm sorry I'm ok like this thank you"

"Ok, will you at least help me manage this" he said as he handed her a bundle of 1000 naira notes

"Thank you but I'm fine, you have done enough"

"Oluwakemi I insist you collect this money, please I have no intentions, I'm just a friend" he said as he looked with pleading eyes that could melt a young girl's heart

After thinking, she collected the money since she had nothing to loose or so she thought. She came down from the car waved him and went into her house hoping that nobody saw her. Pablo made a U turn and sped away, happy that everything was going as planned.

***************
It was a Friday morning and the students of mass communication always had history class every friday, the lecturer was a very funny Benin man called Dr Ose. The class was noisy since he had not arrived, students were in groups gisting about different topics, Blossom and Tope were seated together looking at some comments on his music page on Instagram. "Who is this missmossy girl? I don't like the way she comments as if she knows you personally babe"? Blossom told him

"Why are you sounding jealous"?

"I'm not sounding, I'm jealous, just know that if I catch you cheating I will kill you and then kill.....

She was cut short by the entry of the lecturer inside the class. "Good morning students! Please pass my attendance around" "Today we are going to talk about something we all know and we are likely to experience, it's brideprice" many students paid attention to him as he walked round the class. "You see in those days, in my days, you can't live with a girl if you have not paid for her head, not like now that many of you live as couples. The yorubas don't take much from a guy maybe few yams and little money but just make sure you love the girl, the Hausas were always married from birth, there are some traditions that take your money and even give you half of it back to show you that it's not your money they need like the Bendel people were fond of that, but the Igbo people! Well, We used to pity people that married Igbo girls because as of that time, you would carry the sole responsibility of her family on your head, from visitation they would turn your house to permanent residence, if possible you would send them to school and even build her father a house" "Anyone that married Igbo girls that time were called strong men. Another key issue was "virginity". that time it was very serious. You dare not loose it anyhow, you all know the white cloth tradition but right now many of you have traded your virginities for phones, money, and drinks, some of you even lost it for free, I heard of the case where a girl gave out her virginity for the opportunity to make a phone call" the whole class started laughing.

"Sir, I have a question?"

"And you are miss....?"

"Blossom sir"

"Wow, Blossom are you from Nigeria" he asked as everyone in the class paid rapt attention to their drama

"Yes sir from Port hacourt to be precise"

"Wow , port Harcourt babe, you are really beautiful"

"I've been told sir" some of the class members laughed

"Hope you are not one of them that gave their virginity for drinks"

"No sir" she was beginning to get tired of his question

"Be sure to meet me after class Miss Blossom I have some important things I need to tell you that being said go on and ask your question"

"Sir, it's about the white cloth myth"

"It's not a myth, it happened" he corrected " you young children don't know how to use your expressions well, it is little things like this that makes one fail, you see in 1974 in esoghale grammar school in Benin a teacher of mine flogged me because I told him ..... ,,"the students were tired as he explained his history of expressions to them. "That being said you can continue"

"Well they say only the virginity of girls matter, what about the boys that go about sleeping with different ladies, it is bad if a girl is not a virgin but a boy would be celebrated for loosing his own Virginity and what would happen to those girls in the past because the boys had obviously enjoyed free sex and won't marry her"?

"Miss Blossom, why don't you follow me to my office and let me give you a proper and solid answer to your question, let me satisfy your curiosity and quench this burning fire in you, follow me! He said as he marched out admist the uproar in the class...

Tope was outside his lecture hall waiting for Blossom when he saw one of the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen, she was fair,, she made him look dark skinned. She was tall and slim though not as fleshy as Blossom he thought. It was obvious she she was one of these ajebo girls judging from her choice of clothes and shoe and that necklace must be original gold Tope thought. Everyone kept looking at the girl who walked past them and stood at Tope's front

"Hello"

"Good afternoon I'm Babs"

"Oh, Babs as in?"

"Don't worry, you will get to know that later on, I'm also in this faculty but not in your department and I know you are Tope and I'm actually a huge fan of your work, I see your videos on insta, you are so cute and your voice is out of this world"

(Blushing) "Thanks I guess"

"Can I tell you a secret"

"Try me"

"I get fu*king wet anytime I hear you sing"

"Wow, okay that is one deep stuff I haven't heard from anyone"

"Because you are moving with the wrong crowd honey, if you don't mind can I get your personal contact, my father has a label and I may just help you set up a meeting with him when he comes back to the country"

"Wow, it's all happening too fast, well this is my number 090***..."

"Thanks, can I ask for something before I go"

"Anything, I would do it for you just name it"

"Can you walk me to my car and give me a hug before I go"

"That one na small thing na"

And they walked together, Babs even went as far as holding his hands which made him so uncomfortable as they were the cynosure of all eyes. Then they got to her car and just as he was about to hug her, she planted a deep kiss on him and smiled then entered her car and zoomed off, Tope was thrown off balance and as soon as the car left, he saw Blossom staring at him, he knew she must have seen everything as she didn't even look twice, she just entered her car and drove off also.

******************

"Baba I know wetin my eyes see se, BB kiss that guy, dem even dey do lovey dovey sef before him kiss am" a young guy said to a guy who looked older than him. They were both putting on black clothes with white berets only that the older guy's beret was bigger and had an inscription on it which read "No Mercy" with guns and bullets drawings all over. The older guy was seated on a chair while the younger guy stood before him, it was easy to deduce that the older one was the boss. "How are you so sure of this Sniper"? The older guy asked "Baba I know say you no go believe, na why I put effort snap the pics for you" Sniper said as he showed his boss the pictures he snapped.
After staring at pictures of Tope and Babs the older one started lamenting "haa Sniper, Emi! ABI you no know me, na this guy BB leave me for, after everything I don do for am, she leave me, wetin I do am, ehn Sniper wetin I do am?" He asked Sniper but sniper just stood and kept a straight face, he knew better than to interrupt his capon in matters like this. "She say I too dey do, abeg why I no go do, she to fine, she say I too dey do too much, abeg why I no go do too much, when her honey too sweet, so this idiot just wan come carry my babe from nowhere ABI, after I don work on BB he wan chop where e no work, I go show am say he don price market and he gats to pay, cos man shall die one day when man suppose die, where the idiot dey when men were boys, from Airland to sealand, I don catapult all those Jew men, na him wan bloody Jew wan come take my babe, Emi Danger, Dangerous Danger, haaa, Sniper!" "Boss" Sniper answered "make correct findings about the guy, I wan know who him be, where e dey stay, him movement, and no make any strike, I wan kill am myself!" Danger said "yes boss", Sniper said and started hailing Danger......
