finally the liar has said the truth.

now on matter at hand a government that really meant well for its citizen should have started thus.

1) slashing of house of reps, president and vice ministers, governors salary and allowances, let them know that politics shouldn't be business as usual. that way u will now those that came to serve and those that came for embezzlement.
you will see that majority of the government office holder will resign honourably, slash it to the extent that it will be to the level of a school principal's salary.
2) a government that mean business should implement census and proper birth and death registration nation wide be it a bagger or who ever. proper biometric national and state wise.
that way u will know how to budget and implement anything based on the countries economy.
3) close of. oversea medical treatment for government officials that way our hospitals and clinics will gain proper care, revitalization and full implementation.
we can as well hire professional doctors, surgeons and scientist from the globe and let ours learn from them.
4) since the TSA is on currently, biometric tax payment, everything should be automatic let the system be rejuvenated...
a whole lot of things need to be started at the grassroot level which if I should list I probably might end up not sleeping to night.
Its not like they don't know what to do for a stronger Nigeria but because they are all the same.

As for us the citizens we have 50% part to play in making Nigeria better, leave ur tribe, party affiliation, sentiments and let's wail for a better Nigeria.
we pay them directly from our tax indirectly from our school fees, the water we fetch, the electricity bill we pay from the food you eat.
let's not underestimate our power we owe Nigeria not them, don't let them use us, don't sale ur future or that of ur unborn generation with tribalism, bigotry, sentiments.
think about a Nigeria that can be better than America.
we really can do it.
just a little patriotism from u and I.
just a little care will do a lot.
love Nigeria a little just a few percent to how u love it today.

In addition to this;

1. Diversify the economy.

2. Encourage by subsidizing exportation. Especially of agricultural products.

3. Build refineries

4. Stabilize power

5. Reduce tax rate for foreign investors.

6. Curb terrorism.

7. Check religion.

This may not be easily achieved within a short period of time, but any govt. that makes this its agenda/focus will put Nigeria in the right direction.

But oil price has never been within the control of Nigeria or any country? .... So what is special about this dubious title?

Only brainless wailers celebrate when a government official states a simple elementary fact such as the oil price being beyond the control of the government.
He foolishly promised to make 1#=1$.What was he thinking when making those campaign promises that he has outrightly denied? Nigeria deserve the leaders she got but don't follow blindly.

You read most of these posts and you can't help but feel sorry for Nigerians. They mostly sound poorly educated, ignorant, hypocritical and devilish to the point of telling lies on Jesus to God. How else can one explain a people that defended corruption and thievery in Government, turning around to insult the person trying to fix the problems after severe damage has been done?

Theres obviously a mental health issue of epidemic proportions in Nigeria and the Govt has to try to do something about it.

But I thought they said they want to diversify the economy, why are they now rallying round the oil producing countries again?
I thought by now the plan of diversification should have been in place for implementation. I beg make dem answer us we dey worry o.

Buhari trips abroad yield No foreign investment so far.

Buhari trips to abroad didn't increase your costs of crude oil.

But who taught Buhari that it's foreign investment and high cost of crude oil that are all that's required to grow?

Fulani can't stop thinking of crude oil, instead of cattle which should have earned it more income than oil proceeds.

atleast he came out clean on the true state of the economy, not trying to twist facts and become economical with the truth. the solution lies in restructuring Nigeria, just like Sanusi said. we are operating an expensive, over-bloated system of government that does give room for progress. until we do that, we'll continue to be in a quagmire.

How about the brain of the person who seek to stabilise world oil cost? ??
Effort can be made to stabilise or prop up global oil prices and concerted efforts are currently being made in that regard. So yeah, any person with a brain knows there is nothing wrong with the brain of a person who intends to make moves to stabilise oil prices.

As terrifying as the crash seems to be, the response as been much worse.

The forex restrictions simply made matters worse.

First Nigeria's problems are not as bad as they are made to seem.

The debt burden was only 12% of the economy and even with his expansionary budget, the deficit is only 3% of GDP. It simply shows that as dependent as the government is on oil income for revenue, it's fiscal position is still quite good.

What government must do is to raise non oil revenues by 3% of the GDP over the next 4years. This should not be too hard as collected taxes is barely 4% of GDP. raising it to 8% should be possible.

Unfortunately, the forex restrictions which stupidly leaves the naira rate overvalued thereby encouraging excess demand which can't be met and discourages the influx of dollars as no one wants to sell it at the official rate.

If the government devalues to 240-250 range, this will probably raise another 500Bn for the FG from the oil revenues.

Also, the restrictions as led to a crash in economic output nationwide robbing the government of hundreds of billions in revenue. The word out is that the ports are dry. Even tokunbo car imports that were once thriving has nosedived.
