Yes I agree with you. But I was an 'active' Christian. I was captain in our children department then. I participated and represented RCCG East 1 province in children's bible quiz severally, even at National convention in the camp. I was an active chorister. I used to sweep and clean the church premises every Saturday with my parents and siblings. Anyone who knows me can attest.

I lost my belief in God too as my knowledge about God grew . I don't believe God exists , I know God exists .

Pulling away from religion does not mean you are agnostic or an atheist . Even MrPresident1 , a savant of the scriptures , will tell you that God isn't in organized religion .

Never let the atheists inveigle you into becoming one of them . Atheism is darkness and mental slavery .

Those saying that God only shows himself to true believers are dickheads. The op is on a ledge, what would it cost Yahweh to appear to him on night and just say:"do u believe now?". Bt no, He is too busy preping our furnace. Come to think of it, Yahweh would be the No1 draft pick for hell when u look at his actions in the old testament

I believe you. You were a christian. I am still discovering Scriptural truths myself but I really think it has to do with your denomination because there are some, rather many, that thrive on ignorance and to remain a christian becomes an intellectual and moral struggle every moment of your being. I'm sure my guess is right. Anyway, I see even now you cannot completely say that 'there is no God' and I've realised that that is actually the most ignorant position anyone could take because as you accurately described 'compared to clerics, scientists better understood the awesomeness and magnificence of God' but just like anything else, there are intelligent clerics who base their faith on reason that welcome the kind of questions you had; and of course there are numerous other unintelligent ones who even if they see truth staring them in the face, just because it's in the bible, going by their interpretation, it becomes a lie. Cognitive dissonance at best. A priest calls them primitive people who think religious books dropped from the sky (more typical of illiterate muslims). At the mercy of such, christianity wouldn't have spurred technological advancements and many more would have been silenced. But there are even more unintelligent atheists that you will learn absolutely nothing but 'attack-christianity-because-you-have-become-an-atheist'

Jonah 1: 1-2
1 The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: 2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.”

3 But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.

Jonah received a ministration directly from God yet he disobeyed God and bolted .

Adam and Eve were with God in the Garden yet they disobeyed .

God appearing to Him isn't certainty that anything will change .
