This is neither the time nor the place to be criticising IPOB. Like them or loathe them, they are one of the biggest, if not the biggest, reasons why the independence movement is at where it's at now. We all need to unite if we want to get this referendum- it's already an uphill battle to get it when we're all united so imagine how much more difficult a feat it would be if we're divided amongst ourselves. Our cause is bigger than Kanu or even IPOB.

I was very emotional. But in reality, for any practical progress to be recorded, IPOB must overhaul their entire modus operandi, and Nnamdi Kanu should quit public scene. He has played his part, and so need to chill behind at the moment............ Thanks for the gentle nudge.....

Unfortunately these leaders you are denying hold the 4 aces.

Without their withdrawal from the present Nigerian politics,agitation for biafra will never see the light of day.

You don't use the western mentality to Guage that of the black race and the sins of the past generation still has a ripple effect till date.

On January 15, 1966 Maj. Kaduna Nzeogwu decided to turn a night-time training exercise known as "Exercise Damisa" into a full blown military coup and the Plotters were
Maj. Kaduna Nzeogwu (Igbo),
Maj. Timothy Onwuatuegwu (Igbo),
Maj. Emmanuel Ifeajuna (Igbo),
Maj. Chris Anuforo (Igbo),
Maj. Humphrey Chukwuka (Igbo),
Capt. Emmanuel Nwobosi (Igbo),
Capt. Ben Gbulie (Igbo)
Capt. Ogbu Oji (Igbo).
Maj. Don Okafor (Igbo),
Maj. Adewale Ademoyega (Yoruba),

This was why it was tagged "igbo coup" with just one Yorba officer.

Now here are the names of some of the political leaders killed...

Prime Minister of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa;

Premier of Northern Nigeria, Alhaji Ahmadu Bello:

Premier of Western Region; Sir Samuel Ladoke Akintola;

Finance Minister, Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh;

Wife of Ademulegun, Mrs. Lateefat;

Wife of the then Premier of Northern Nigeria, Hafusat; Zarumi Sardauna,

Senior Assistant on Security to the then Premier, Ahmed Ben Musa

Government Driver to the then Premier, Ahmed Pategi. and so on.

Now remember that this is Africa and the generations of these South south, Yoruba and housa petriachs gruesomely killed in that coup are still ruling us today which is why there is a subliminal vendetta towards the Igbos and it is so unfortunate that rather for the Igbos to unite and break away,some of their elders still firm alliance with the government of the day.

Trust me,as far as this political romance continues,the Biafra agitation is D.O.A (Dead on arrival)

By the way, the 1966 coup was an Awolowo( Yoruba) masterminded coup and here is why:
1. Fajuyi, a Yoruba, was a mentor to the likes of Nzeogwu and not only supported their coup, but also made inputs on how they should go about it. This was why he was marked for death by the counter coup northern junta. To conceal this and sell their Igbo coup propaganda, the Yoruba print media launched the falsehood of Fajuyi begging for IronsI life being the reason for his death, but we know better.

2. Up until 1967, Awolowo was the only Nigerian who had once plotted to usurp a seating government, ala civilian coup, he had antecedents. He would also attempt a second civilian coup later against IBB which culminated to his death.

3. The coup plotters listed Awolowo as the man they had in mind to install as the president should the coup have been successful.

4. The coup plotters carefully eliminated Awolowo main rival, Akintola, who had already emasculated Awolowo and rendered him powerless in Yorubaland, alongside his accomplices in Saraduna and Balewa. This was needed to create a vacancy that Awolowo could fill right after the coup.

It's as simple as it is, without the coup plotters striking and eliminating Akintola, Balewa and Saraduna, Awo would have rot in prison and if he managed to come out, would have seen Akintola completely consolidate on his powers in Yorubaland with active help of Balewa and Saraduna.
The rate Akintola was spreading his wings in SW, with active connivance of Balewa and Saraduna, Awo knew that he had to get out of prison as fast as possible or slip into political oblivion forever.
The Biggest winner from the coup was Awolowo, co incidence?
I don't think so.

I love the igbos and all my life I have related with them more than any other tribe but one problem with many Igbos is the sheepish mindset they have.

Is it not clear that Kanu is just an attention seeker?

Igbos shout marginalization yet their leaders still partake in Nigerian politics please who is fooling who.

The first military coup in Nigerian was predominantly carried out by igbos thereby removing our very first democratically elected president who strangely enough was an Igbo man by the name Nnamdi azikwe thereby putting Nigeria in chaos and that was the Genesis of the turpsy turvy we had in leadership and even was the root cause of the civil war. The so called Ojukwu started a war he could not end and ended up running away and abandoning his people after millions of innocent igbo lives were lost.

Now the scenerie is repeating itself...many igbos have died recently over this biafra issue and foolish enough same igbos are worshipping this clueless guy...I weep for the igbos because they are so proud and they lack unity.
First it was "massob" powered by Nwazurike and now Ipob powered by Kanu. ..foolish disunity.

I'm very sure they may end up killing themselves in the bid to have a leader even if the Biafra nation is eventually actualized.
They removed their very own from power in 1966 and same people are now claiming they are marginalized abeg who is fooling who.

Ironically the foolish young generation dying like fowl over this failed course are totally ignorant of the Genesis of their agitation.

1.Yea, even the Nazi love the Jews. I pity Igbos that keep bitter Igbophobic beings as friends. Igbos are sheepish? So says a man from an ethnic group whose leader is a drug baron.

2. And you are the nose poking bitter Yoruba man who wants to die on Igbo matter.

3. Our leaders left Nigeria and all came to Biafra in 1967, yet demonic entities came forcing Nigerian union on us, have you forgotten?

4. The first military coup was masterminded by Awolowo through Fajuyi. Nzeogwu and the rest were mere naive pieces in Awo deadly game.

5.Ojukwu never started any war. He simply declared the sovereignty of Biafra. Gowon and Nigerians brought war to our door steps, forcing their demonic one Nigeria on us.

6. Yes, once again, we are demanding for our sovereignty, while demonic folks are chanting war! Nothing has changed. Another 50year's gone by, yet it's still unity at gone point. The British colonial estate cannot inspire patriotism on Ndiigbo, it's unity is only at gun point, little wonder why it's a failed state.

7. Yes, we would kill ourselves in Biafra like Nigerians are being killed by Boko haram and fulani herdsmen who are supposed to be their fellow citizens, Offa and their neighbor in Kwara, Ife and Modakeke,you should concentrate on that and let Biafrans worry about their own issues, you can't possibly love us more than you love yourselves.

8. Ojukwu ran away? Well Atleast he stayed alive. Awolowo started a civilian hostile take over of a military government, and when he failed and was caught, no thanks to his fellow treacherous Yorubas giving him away, he committed suicide!

9. The Yoruba Obas and political leaders cashed out on Abiola, were all settled by Abacha, only for Yorubas to come out and start chanting marginalization later.

10. Yoruba current generation are the foolish ones. Rather than focus on how to retrieve Ilorin and it's environment from the Fulanis that conquered their ancestors and took them. Rather than focus on how to reunite SW with Kogi and Kwara speaking parts of Yoruba and then with the Yorubas in Benin republic to form a United homogeneous Yoruba country, the average Yoruba youth and adult is more interested and obsessed with what the Igbo man is doing or not doing to get Biafra.

You began your post claiming love, yet all you spilled and drip is hate. If your love is so full of hate like this, I don't want to know what your hate looks like.

What a wasted generation. Biafra is a failed cause, yet bitter Yorubas had been having sleepless nights over it. Convulsing up and down the internet space like Earthworms on salt. The shame is on you.

But 1thing baffles me in this Biafra thing. Anytime is not running the show they shout Biafra. Let electioneering process begin Biafra will be out or appoint them tomorrow to juice ministry Hunnnn no marginalization again. Until IBO have at least 10 selfless people who believe in Biafra, IPOB is a mirage of some sort! Osinbajo should not lose sleep on them, just give them Minister of Finance they will silent.

I don't think so.

No.4 is the biggest indicator of all that it was not an Igbo coup. Why would these soldiers, who were accused of being Igbo supremacists, go through all of that risk when killing so many of these important leaders just to put a Yoruba man in charge? Was Nnamdi Azikiwe not still alive? Why not him? These people must think that we're foolish.

As for Fajuiyi, if the story that the Lagos-Ibadan media is true and him and Ironsi was taken for questioning then there was ample opportunity for the soldiers to kill Ironsi and leave Fajuiyi alive. When Ironsi was taken for questioning, did Fajuiyi decide to jump in the car with them? That doesn't make any sense to me. The only way that story makes any sense is if the whole operation was a rushed affair and the soldiers killed Ironsi inside Fajuiyi's home but had to kill Fajuiyi first due to his protests, which would've delayed the whole affair. However, we know that this is not the case because they had enough time to take Ironsi in for questioning so even if Fajuiyi insisted on being taken along, he would've been ignored if they really didn't want to kill him imo. Of course, this is all conjecture but that story by the Lagos-Ibadan media is full of so many holes. undecided

Pazienza is right. The coup essentially failed when they failed to assassinate Ironsi along with the rest of the leaders. This is obvious when you consider that most of the coupists either fled or tried to flee Nigeria when they heard that Ironsi was still alive. Why do that if you're in cahoots with him?

Of course, the fajuyi story concocted by Yoruba media propaganda was a lie.
We had explained this long time ago on this forum.
The more I analyze the Jan 1966 coup, the more I see Awolowo fingerprint all over it, right until Ironsi derailed the plan.
