mrvitalis:U do not completely know what U are saying. The minorities and d Christians in d north look at d Igbo man almost d same way d northern muslims do and this is born out of envy and d aggressive way d Igbo ppl go about their activities in their quest for perfection and excellence. The only difference is that they aren't violent about it and another factor is d renewed killings of their ppl by d muslims in d name of religious riots and boko haram. By d way,do u live or have lived in d north? And I'm not talking about Abuja or Makurdi or Lokoja? |

Oh jeez you blew my mind! I have always said this: YES! an average Igbo man is so self-confident (up to the point of foolish arrogance) BUT the Igbo people are not a violent people. An Igboman will rather sell to you, perhaps at an inflated price, than kill you. The problem with the Hausa and Fulani is that they are too inclined to do violence at any slight excuse. The Yoruba people too are not violent; that's why there hasn't been any major fight between Yorubas and Igbos. Yorubas are very liberal (Hausa people don't particularly like this); the Igbos are non-violent extremists and natural entrepreneurs (they suck at politics); and the Hausas are extremists too (violent though) and quite insecure about their chances of keeping up with the Igbos and Yorubas if they don't have the political power. The best Nigerians are those northern Christians in Taraba, Adamawa, Yobe, Borno et'al 2 Likes |

Terkimbi01: If the Igbos kill their host communities who will buy their spare parts and buy drugs from their chemist shop. Moreover, their houses can be destroyed if they violently attack their host and its easy to trace them to their village in Igboland. But the Fulani can violently attack his host, pick up his praying mat and flee to Sokoto or Bauchi because he has nothing much to lose and his own people will always protect him even if you decide to trace him. 2 Likes |

charlesucheh: Hausa being a lingua franca across most parts of the middlebelt does not make those places Hausa land or qualify them as more north than Benue. By your yardstick, we can as well classify Nigeria as British, on account of us speaking English. Most of those places have too many smaller languages scattered around, which the Hausas used to their advantage. For instance, you can survive in Benue just by speaking Tiv, but you cannot in Nasarawa by speaking Mada. What qualifies a people as one is their shared beliefs, ethos, and life perspectives. The regions that make up the middlebelt can easily coexist with each other, but they cannot with the Hausa/Fulani. This is mainly due to Islamic fundamentalism, and nothing else. 1 Like |

wasiudvd: I wanted to respond to kennygee in the exact same tone you have. She shouldn't let the hate get to her like that. Being classified as a northerner is not bad in itself. It's simple-minded people that make it seem like a taboo. While I prefer to identify as a middlebelter, I don't see my coming from my home state as a curse. We are where we are for a reason. If you don't like the narrative, change the story. |

malton: Its not the hate self, I don't like that state Kogi, I don't like the ethnic groups we share the state with, we barely tolerate each other. If I had a choice, I'd change the state ASAP, but I'll just wait for marriage to do that for me. 1 Like |

The biggest hindrance to success is fear and SHAME if you stay at your place you won't make it there because there are some business you won't want to do because you don't want to be judged by your neighbours and friends this is the mentality of most igbo men rather than stay at home to try to make it you rather go else where. Imagine coming back from service will you want to do an odd job just for a start or will you rather do that odd job else where? And If you're going home to meet the family and friends are you going to be going empty handed? This are the questions we must all ask ourselves, I'm not derailing the thread but I dont think hating an igbo man or a southerner is the problem because at the end of the day we are all the same. |

kennygee: Kogi is a reflection of Nigeria itself. What you said is the truth. I've lived in and know Kogi well enough to understand your POV. I just hope that someday, we'll realize that the problem is not the marriage itself and that it only seems like a marriage of strange bedfellows because we haven't been allowed the time to know each other better. A lot of times, we form opinions off of others' perceptions without experiences of our own. We can learn to love if we try. Chances are that you have never had a direct confrontation with an Igala or Ebira person before. Whether you are the same state or not, someday, somehow, you'd always get in each other's way. It's life. If we must solve every problem by division, not even one family will be left. |
