you guys really have no basis comparing Nigeria with Ghana if you are true to yourselves.

1.These pics of structures you posted already littered most part of Nigeria in various shapes and sizes

2.The 24hrs electricity you guys brag about is by no means your power.I mean, the Nigeria gas company  supplies gas to your power plants almost free of charge at the detriment of its own people just because we are our brother's keeper and because our word is our bond. It may interst you to know that Ghana is owing Nigeria backlog of payment for gas and thats why your sorry A.S.S president waz here the other day begging for more time to pay.Ask your govt if in doubt.I just hate it when people talk before they check facts.Ask Togo,Benin we supply them electricity even though it is not enough for us.I ask myself, why do we do this things we do?simple. We just love to be our brother's keeper.

no, u cant compare Nigeria to Ghana, Ghana is like a kid brother to Nigeria, their economy is a little getting improved today because of the large input of Nigerian companies there, Ghanaians re known as ppl who cannot effectively start up from scratch

This might be my last reposnd to this thread as I have other important things to do. But for your sake I will answer those.

1. I posted those pictures because some else posted pictures of somewhere in Nigeria and asked if there is anything like that in Ghana. So I was only replying him.

2. You clearly have no idea of what you are talking about with regards to electricity. Ghana depends heavily on hydro-electricity. Till now Ghana has two Hydroelectric dams  and is planning on building a third. These dams provide Ghana with about 90% of Ghana's electricity needs. Ghana also has some thermal plants in other parts of the country which fills in the 10% gap left.

Yes, Nigeria helped Ghana with electricity sometime three years ago when the water levels in the dams in Ghana were at low levels but I don’t think it was for free. For your information Ghana des not enjoy any gas from Nigeria. The gas used in fueling the thermal plants are bought from the internationally market,  (This might include Nigeria, Libya etc.)
The West African Gas pipeline from Nigeria is yet to give a simple drop of Gas from Nigeria. Till now it isn't fully working yet. Just to let you know, Ghana has also been helping Nigeria with electricity lately.

Wether Ghana small pass lagos or not should not be the issue here afterall naija get resources pass dem. The question is how well both dey manage dem selves. From what i know of my geography USA big and most importantly managed better than Naija too.

With the way the present leaders dey manage the country i am 100% sure that if they are given Ghana to manage dey will also do a F$CK ALL job there.

Our leaders na disgrace. God will punish dem and all their generations plus even the ones unborn iJN.

Economy - overview (Ghana vs Nigeria) culled from CIA the-world-factbook

In spite of the fact that Nigeria has been “, long hobbled by political instability, corruption, inadequate infrastructure, and poor macroeconomic management, ”,

STILL,

GDP (purchasing power parity): (2009 est.)
Ghana ($35.83 billion), Nigeria ($339 billion)

GDP - real growth rate: (2009 est.)
Ghana (3.5%), Nigeria (6.1%)

GDP (official exchange rate): (2009 est.)
Ghana ($15.51 billion), Nigeria ($173.4 billion)

GDP - per capita (PPP): (2009 est.) [This entry shows GDP on a purchasing power parity basis divided by population as of 1 July for the same year]
Ghana ($1,500), Nigeria ($2,300)

Population below poverty line: (2007 est.)
Ghana (28.5%), Nigeria (70%)
Now let’s put this into perspective:
Ghana population = 24.3mil = 17.4million living above poverty level.
Nigeria population = 152.2mil = 45.6million living above poverty level (this represents spending power that Ghanaians can only have wet dreams about)

HOWEVER ALL THAT PALES INTO INSIGNIFICANCE WHEN YOU CONSIDER THIS:

[Ghana]Imports - partners:

China 16.8%, Nigeria 11.88%, US 6.63%, Cote d'Ivoire 5.99%, India 5.57%, France 5.09%, UK 4.23% (2009)

, You still gotta spend almost 12% of the pittance you have available for imports on us.

Yes, we preoccupied trying to extricate ourselves from the divisive mess deliberately left to us by the British. Yes, it’s taking a bit too long, but what do you expect? Nigeria is a country made up of Nations. But, but, but, but, but; YOU STILL AINT GOT NOTHING ON US!! Just keep on praying (to whatever u pray to) that we (Nigerians) don’t kiss and make up soon, because we’ll leave you guys for dust.

All this ur post na for the accountants. With all those GDP of urs what is ur poverty, corruption, mismanagement percentages of Naija compare to Ghana. Put dem down make we see now.

Our leaders na our problem. Let us all join hands and liberate our country instead of comparing ourself with Ghana.

I belief every naija at this stage should support the MEND guys spiritual, cash and physical. hopefully dey can start the process of liberating that country. We need dem more than we need those politicans i swear.

Which Ghana are the likes of Ona-tum-ufu talking about? Thesame Ghana that just recently won the 9th worst run economy of the world according to FORBES? abi na thesame Ghana whose economy is entirely controlled by foriegners, Nigerians inclusive. Abi na the paltry 60 or so billion dollars GDP na im dey give una illusions. Let's face facts, there is no basis for any comparison, from developmental strides to GDP and to even the worse vices. . .lol. . .
It's understandable if Ghanaians want to beat their chest and say yeah we are making progress and all that, fine, if it makes an average Ghanaian feel good about himself/herself, no qualms. However, to start making ridiculous comparisons and posting pictures of 5 star hotels in Accra and other centres of Ghana is the height of folly cos for every of those places posted in Accra, every Naija city has a handful of those unlike Ghana that has them clumped in one or two cities. Ghana will need another 100 years to reach a stagnant naija before we can start comparing notes, not when ya'll are heavily indebted to foriegn lending bodies and the Nigerian govt and can't pay. Nigeria even though is seriously mismanaged and heavily corrupt is too much for lil fries like Ghana to even want to compare shiot. . .go get us RSA, Egypt or some serious country whose economies are not run by hypes and govt propaganda machine, perhaps they so to attract FDI. . .lol. . Poor lil things, I still love em anyways. . Hahahaha

Ghana?which country/island is that?
Carribeans?Pacific ocean?
These were the words of an average non African.

Guys pls stop ridiculing Nigeria by comparing to insignificant states.
Nigeria may have rough patches but its insulting comparing her to a tiny enclave on the west coast. I can take comparism to South Africa, Egypt,Kenya. . . .but no puff-puff colonies please! grin

Re: Ghana: A Contrary View by macdaddy: 3:49pm On Nov 19, 2010
@jrtorrents
The total power generation of Ghana is no more than 3000mw.This is barely enough for lagos.
Nigeria's current installed capacity is about 6500mw.This will increase to 10,000mw by 2014 due to new power plants being built.Yes,it is true we dont generate up to3200mw due aged plants, low water level in the hydro plants, damaged gas pipeline, ongoing improvement projects, upgrade etc
Even with all these problems with still generate more than what you people have and come here and make noise about constant electricity.what the heck!

The WAGP has been supplying gas to your frigging ASS since 2008.

oh yes.your govt wont tell you when they here come to beg for money.but NAIJA wont make noise about that.do we?

are you silly , oblivious or perharps both. You spoke about a specific issue and I was addressing that. You were saying Ghana was enjoying constant electricity becuase of Nigeria . We werent talking about how many watts of power each country generates

If we should talk about the power generated by each country you just do this quck Maths. Ghana now generates 2000 watts of power  for a 22million population. Whiles Nigeria genrates 6500watts for thier  150million population.

By 2014 as you said Nigeria is planning to improve its power capacity to 10,000watts. By that same time Ghana is planning to increse its power capacity to 5,000watts. You noice the difference in foresight between these two nations?

Why dont you compare literacy rates, life expectancy, standard of living?

As rule of thumb, countries with small populations have the highest literacy rates (Oyinbo man education). For example, an insignificant country like Andorra has 100% literacy rate.

Same applies to life expectancy where places like Andorra and San Marino dominate, and are miles ahead of countries like the US and Germany. So u know where u can stuff dat.

I'm sure if Nigerians decided to sit back and throw big wrapper over our shoulder, while shouting 'Akwabaa' to any light skinned foreigner that crosses Kotoka airport, we'll probably have a higher quality of life. The kind I see in those Ghanaian porn movies all over the internet?!!!

I wonder the comparisons all the time. I've always said it, it's only someone who feels inferior to the other that oftens like test power which of them is stronger. If Nigeria doesn't regard them anyways, ever ask why they always attack Nigerians even when no ones ask them.
Re: Ghana: A Contrary View by jrtorrents: 4:21pm On Nov 19, 2010

It is Nigerians rather comapring themselves to Ghana and attacking Ghana not the other way round.

I know, Jason.  It's too bad that a site that is one of the 10 most popular in Nigeria is riddled with racist and ethnic diatribe.  So many Nigerians in Africa and in the diaspora are looking for a medium to connect with each other, but we end up with so much of this nonsense.  And now picking on the poor Ghanaians who are just trying to rebuild their country and mind their business.

If we want to be seen as the giant of Africa, we have to demonstrate a bit more self-respect.

And Ghanaians and other Africans should be welcome here! If you start to pick fights with them, of course some will respond in kind.
