THE promoters of the Lekki Deep Seaport yesterday said that the port project will be delivered on schedule as construction works reaches 80 percent, a development that will change the face of port operation in Nigeria.

In a month progress report released by the Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited also said that it was confident that with the continued support of its stakeholders, the project is on track for the commencement of port operation in the next few months.

According to the firm, “Dredging and reclamation works is now 89.93 percent completed.

“Quay wall is now 85.65 percent completed. The Breakwater is now 79.66 percent completed.

“For landside infrastructure, works done is now 67.82 percent completed, bringing total works carried out on the project as at Thursday, 6th of January 2022 to 79.68 percent completion stage.”

Spread over 90 hectares of land in the heart of the Lagos Free Zone, Lekki Port is situated just 65 km east of Lagos city.

The western boundary of the site lies east of Magbon Segun Village while the eastern margin lies west of Itoke Village. The Atlantic Ocean forms the southern boundary of the site and is bounded on the North by the Old Ibeju-Lekki Road between Eleko and Akodo.

The major roads and highways around the Port include: Old Ibeju-Lekki Road, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikorodu Road, Ikorodu-Itoikin-Ijebu-Ode Road, Itoikin-Epe Road, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Sagamu-Benin Expressway.

In addition to this existing network, a number of new key road and bridge projects and expansion of existing highways are currently being developed, connecting Lekki Port further into the hinterlands.

See as Lagos is setting their future. Yet one urchin from a failed state will open his gutter of mouth to advise them on how to run their state better.

Eko Onibaje. They shouldn't entertain some certain people in this new project because they will still littering it.

my hometown is where the port is located, but the government need to widen the old ibeju-lekki road (eleko-folu exp rd) to 8 lane because of the delivering of goods. Dangote refinery projects are using this same road & the road is really bad now, & it is the only exp road that link to the port directly.

Very soon they will say one tribe is preventing them from having seaport. But they will not stop electing bigots and kerosene governors

I see BMCs who spent the last 7 years starving themselves so they can subscribe to MTN's 1gb per week data plan to defend buhari, using rubber boats to try to access Europe as a result of the excessive suffering.

I see many of them drowning in the high sea, I see the survivors being deported back to Nigeria were they can continue to enjoy the Buhari they once called daddy.

This I have seen.

Keeping all Nigerian ports in Lagos is satanic and it's the price we have to pay for one Nigeria

True, but at the same time, Nigeria still needs lots of room for improvement.

grin i'm happy for this massive development coming to lagos east. We know that's where the future of lagos economy is but project execution is just slow.
Those areas has a high percentage of Lagos natives who serious hardworking people.
Economic activities will open down to ijebu ode. I trust ijebu merchant not to slack on businesses.
Ogun state future governor not this present one should take good advantage of this proximity of ogunstate to lagos.
By now ogun state government should know better, there are some fed government road you just have to construct to increase economic activities instead of waiting on federal government wey no get ur time

This is good but it’s bad if their is no road cause it will only cause more traffic and stealing which is endangering the life of citizens and there properties, if the roads are also been worked on then this would be a game changer cause it will free apapa a little... just expand some of this roads and do maintenance to the already damaged ones

% to completion is not readiness abeg, not for a port project of this scale. We know they'll still battle with land owners... silently or otherwise.

Me sha happy about this
