Lexusgs430: I am getting ready to apply for British Citizen for my daughter when she arrives in 2 weeks time and wondered if anyone can break this down for me. I was born in Nigeria and gained British through naturalisation years back. My parents were born in Nigeria and British if that helps to answer my question. Thanks "Your parent is British by descent and lived in the UK or a British Overseas territory for at least 3 years before you were born "Your parent is British by descent and you and your parents (unless they are legally separated) are now living in the UK or a British Overseas territory |

Lexusgs430: As a nurse with heavy workload, I have had to work less hours 3 days before and prior to that to ensure we complete the process together. Just be organised and commit time to it. Dont do it with one hand. |

Mrschubby: As a nurse I've had to work less 3 days before applying to have time to pay attention to details and send everything all at once. My wife documents was DHL from Lagos for N20K and received it within 3 days. Both of you needs to be organised. If you're not using priority expect Jan-Feb reply. 1 Like |

Launna29: Priority I paid my daughter's IHS last week Friday, I initially got the £0 with the IHS ref and later paid with the link that was sent and emailed them at the contact address included with it. I cant wait for my entitlement to get my wife and daugter visa. |

Bhol28: Sorry, I had to quote you to post my message. I applied for a spouse visa with 1 dependent child of 11 months old whom was asked to pay £0 at the time of application and was given IHS ref number which was submitted. UKVI emailed me to pay IHS fee. Any experience? Looks like they’re be granted their visa. Both priority visa deferred until I pay and contact them as instructed to further the application. |

Veacon: I would advice you to do a proper registry wedding at a genin registry centre and have your certificate. If possible also have a church wedding with your certificte. I've submitted my priority spouse visa application with an 11 months old daughter not long ago. We also included Affidavit, Punch Newspaper public announcement of my wife's change of name Dec 2015 of name.I was a student studing nursing at the time as a British Citizen and we had to be patient and now I am in full time employment earning close to £30k per annum. We had spent close to £7k for the spouse visa and wedding cost excluding wife and daughter's allowance of which the evidence was also provided. Your relationship needs to develop or have a child and provide evidence are ways to suggest that you're in a geuine relationship. If I were you, I will ignore DSS. Moreover, wiki is not a reliable website for information to do with your life. Simply call or email UKVI for information. I spent close to £20 on phone calls and emails. Dont assume anything. Dont forget your English requirement, wife's UK NARIC was C1 which is above the requirement. The UK is a financial hub and want our money at all cost. I was reluctant to type these, however, I had to because others also took their time out to type when I needed help. Good luck to both of us ! 3 Likes |

Minnienellie24: Hello Minnienellie24 , I thought as much, however, the online form did not stated if it was VAF4A we are filling. I saw " Family settlement application form VAF4A (for North Korea only) PDF, 1.19MB, 1 page This file may not be suitable for users of assistive technology. Request an accessible format. Okay, so the VAF4A is the same as the one we have just filled online ? I see, the information on the VAF4A seems to be the same on the online application form. I will now destroy the VAF4A form. We will print the online application forms sign and date them. Would I include the Appedix 2 financial rquirement which I had already filled ? I had also filled the sponsorship undertaking form last week and signed it. Visa, IHS and priority fees paid and confirmations printed out. TLS biometric is the 28 of this month. Thanks for taking the time out to reply. |

oxygyne: Hello guys, Where on TLS website should I click to buy priority service as this option was not available during application. We've paid visa fees and IHS and remains priority. All email confirmed. Just the priority fee. Also, I take it that the form Personal details form (VAF4A) and Appendix 2 would have been completed or do we fill these forms in separately ? I have got these forms and will just fill them to be on the safe side. Thanks |

Ibkbosson: We’re more than providing DNA test, this isn’t applicable to us. There are some people that needs to provide that, certainly not us. Secondly, my dad a doctor and jnr bro a doctor both wrote support letters to confirm everything. Moreover , as a nurse in the UK that follows NMC code of conducts I don’t think I’ll put my life long job for survival on the line by misleading them. Don’t get me wrong I know you’re helping I’m just saying my bits for you to know. The UKVI replied to my mail and said that she’s eligible for a British visa. The only way would be for it to be delivered to the person’s address. No matter what you say to make easier the HPO also advised the same and they can’t post it to me in the UK nor Brit embassy for pickup. We have affidavits, registry certificate, punch newspapers change of name, wedding IV, pictures with dates and descriptions at the back. Relationship pics, TB test, Naric English ass and comparability with her Abuad degree cert with letter of proficiency. Daughter and wife birth certificate, 3 bedroom house, and many more. I’m replying to this post to help others here. Don’t assume anything, find out first. Had we not assume that she would get a Brit passport last year she would gotten her Brit passport by now. Thanks to everyone inputs. I’ll update you when they both arrive. 1 Like

Ibkbosson: Update and to help others on the way I phoned the passport centre and was advised that she would be eligible for a British passport in Nigeria or when she arrives in the UK if we pay the £2000. In addition, I was also advised that once she get her British passport she can come to the UK without no hassle just like citizens travel anywhere in the world. What a relief ! I will stick to this option rather than pay 1 million naira for their application for my wife to bring her along. I was also advised to speak to home office regarding if she would have to pay her own fees when my wife is applying. I have emailed UKVI for information regarding that as I don't want to call them, they're often used delay tactics to keep you on the phone and will end up paying more consultation fee from your bank. I have paid the usual £5 or so for their email and expect reply within 2 days. The reply from home office would determine if they confirm she would pay £2000 including NHS surcharge |

Ibkbosson: Thanks Ibkbosson, this was exactly we did last year until we decided that she can get a British citizen when she arrives and that we wont have her visa fee since she is 11 months. We later abandoned it. Given what you've advised, I will also email home office and pay the usual email cost and contact the website you gave me to clarify and we base our decision on this. Thank you for taking the time out to reply. I appreciate. |

Ibkbosson: Could you tell me how to go about it please. I thought about that as well. The whole thing is very confusing. Please note, I am a British by naturalisation. How long ago did you applied for your son ROA. Did you picked up the ROA in the UK or in Nigeria ? Thanks Ibkbosson. |

ricki: I'm a nurse and a British citizen living in the UK. wife and daughter would be applying to join me. I read the pdf below that those under the age of 18 needs a visa. I initially wanted to apply for a British passport for her last year, but then since I am British, she would become one. Whichever way it comes to us we are up to it. Thanks again

Lexusgs430: I have included my British passport and citizenship certificate along with photocopies of both. I have also highlighted in bold in my support letter that I will need all my original documents back along with others such as registry certificate, wife's and daughter's birth certificate in the prepaid envelope included. I take it that this is okay or is it just passport only to include? Thanks |
