Good evening guys. Pls I have questions which I'm hoping u can advise on:

1 - The agent that filled my wife's visa application form put wrong names for her parent (father's) names. My wife has now travelled safely to the UK and my son and I are about to apply to join her as dependants. I was advised to leave this error and correct it when we have arrived and are applying for new sponsorship (her current UK skilled visa expires in 16months) or later when we're applying for ILR. Pls what do u advise?

2. In chasing my son and I's Dependant Application, I'm assuming we still need to show proof of maintenance funds (£600 for us both) even tho maintenance for herself and family was ticked on her CoS but she's been there for about 8weeks now and we're only just abt joining her.

3. Is there need for proof of adequate accommodation using maybe Council tax (which she has in her name) to support our dependants application?

Thanks in advance for suggestions/opinions.

Pop
I am interested in how you intend to convince UKBA that your agent made a mistake and you repeated the same mistake too.
My advise is not to complicate your issue for yourself. It's not the end of the world.

We don't want to move to any of these places.

Our plan now is to leave them. (3 transfers within one year is unsettling).

They don't pay for this relocation cost, what they do is pay for deposit and first month rent and charge it back for you to pay back small small.

But these are my major challenges with leaving them immediately and also leaving Newcastle as Newcastle do not seems to have a lot of Nursing roles with Sponsorship.

Below are why I am thinking it will be expensive leaving Newcastle Now.

1. We have got tenant contracts that will end April 8 2023.
2. Energy Contract till April 2023 exit fee £300.
3. Wifi Contract till April 2023 exit fee £150.

So the earliest I think we can leave Newcastle is April 2023.

Thinking of what to do between now and April 2023 is mentally draining.

If we accept to go to any of these places in the interim (Which is likely the only option we have now), while looking for job with sponsorship in Manchester or Liverpool or Leeds (I believe they will be more opportunities there especially for me, It was hard for me to find job here in Newcastle due to my family situation and were we live), The cheapest she would spend working 14days a month with taxi is £980. This will put alot of financial burden on us.

In her contract, if she leaves before 3 years she will pay back a certain amount, her colleague left after 6months and she was asked to pay back £4,500.

How do I sail through this turbulent sea.

Can her Union force them to pay for this taxi fare?.

Please dear Ancestors i need all the Advice, help and Encouragement now.
Baba this is bad and I suspect it is worse than you have stated. This is the UK and you have a very good case for leaving the contract and even get compensated sef. The unions can help you as someone stated but you can explore the angle of mental health and constructive dismissal ( TheGuyFromHR may know anout this)

We left Scotland for Newcastle with this same Employer 6months ago. Now another transfer to either Durham or Sunderland in 26days.
Do they pay for relocation? Was this a condition in your contract?
If not, you are not obliged to move. Even to move office sef, emplyers have to take it easy with employees not to talk of transfer. And if it's in your contract, you and your family's mental health and stability is a good enough reason to decline, in my opinion.

I don't agree. Boris got 102 nominations while Sunak got 177. With more nominations than Boris, means that more Tory MPs wanted him as PM than Boris. If he is able to turn the economy around post Brexit, he will win any general elections called. Right now, no Tory PM will win if an election is called.
Who told you Boris had 102 nominations? Yes, Boris himself - The liar. Take that with a pinch of salt.
Even some commentators from newspapers that support him doubt that figure. Else why did he approach Rishi for a collabo and when that did not work he went to Penny to lend him her support? The polls showed that he would have won the party members vote if it went to them and the ambitous Boris would have taken it except something was not quite right this time.

So this doesn't count? Who was not elected by white party members over other candidates who are white?

I think you mis read his comment. He said:
Even if the party had chosen him they will lose the general election.
The MPs have elected him, will the public? Remember, the conservative party members were not going to vote for him if Boris had made it to the ballot.

Good evening ancestors. Thank God that the gbas gbos of student this and that are over.

I want to know something about the tier 2 visa,

If the main applicant (Health and Social care), becomes a dependant to the former dependant (IT sector) of the same tier 2 visa, Will it affect their time for ILR?.

Will their time reset to year 1. OR they can continue counting from the H&SC visa.

I hope i made sense.
Thank you my people, my people.
Yes it resets.

My cousin bro just recently moved there … in as much I was against it because his first degree in Nigeria is not health or IT related.

What are his chances of survival in a competitive place like the UK with a Management degree certificate.

You don't need a degree in IT or health care or a degree at all to work in those industries.

Even the post study work (PSW) isn’t looking sure like before , chances of you coming back to Nigeria immediately after your studies is high .

The UK is tightening it immigration laws daily , they’ve started crackdown on dependants visas

That's not true. It was mooted and no decision has been taken.

Told this young man , he will be better off trying to hustle for a German visa or even Australia visa or any EU country with flexible PR option.

But baba insisted he must enter UK with student visa , smh … because anytime he comes on nairaland and see you people talking about making 2500 pounds per month grin

My Mumu cousin self will rush and bring out his CASIO calculator and convert £2500 to naira , then start telling me , he will be making 1.9 million naira per month and he will be sending me like 300k monthly …lol grin grin grin
A lot of people make that mistake until reality sets in.

On the whole, your cousin will do well if he/she knows what they are doing.

Thank you Dustydee.

Please how do I go about telling the employer about this sponsorship route? I am being careful that's why I let them know I have work hour restriction so that they can explore the sponsorship option .

The good thing is that my class timetable is flexible and even the the days I have class, it mostly happen around 4pm.

Thank you for the feedback.

Dear Elders here,

Please I need your advice.

I recently came into the UK on postgraduate student visa. Last week I updated my LinkedIn profile to show my current location in the UK. I have received about 5 job opportunities from recruiters on LinkedIn. Same last week I told two of the recruiters that I'm a postgraduate student on tier 4 visa and I'm only permitted to work 20 hours per week on term time. But they said they needed someone who will do full-time. One even told me I should respond if I'm willing to do full-time but I'm yet to respond. I don't want to default on the visa terms.

This week I have three recruiters with very interesting job opportunities I'm yet to inform about my visa status because of the fear they will forget about the recruitment based on my visa status. One of the recruiters based in London told me about 99% remote work.

Please is there anything I could do to not default on my visa status while I work for any of these companies? I'm new in UK and I don't know how to handle this situation, so that I can grab this opportunity.

Please I need your advice and input.
While you can't work full time, during term time, on a student visa you can explore sponsorship opportunities with these recruiters. If they badly need your skills, they may offer you one.
Be careful though as being contacted by a recruiter does not mean you are close to being offered the job. Some recruiters are just out there to have a feel or the market.

Income tax is the UK is over 60% for high income earners so even if they pay you high wages, the government will collect most of the money as tax and leave you just ok.

On the contrary, company tax is very low at 19% so it pays companies to not give their money to employees as the government would collect most of it.

shocked Which UK? Top rate is 45%

He should never have taken the job in the first place , he allowed himself to be used as a racial gate keeper. I have got no sympathy for him. Lizz will make history as the shortest reigning PM .

And we were here a few weeks back saying the best man for the job (Rishi) did not win but some people disagreed. Kwasi was just implementing Liz's campaign promise but he should have known better.
These conservatives are just toying with us. During the leadership campaign, Boris' camp was said to prefer Liz so that they can get her out quickly and bring him back. Looks like that script is playing out well so far.

Evening everyone.

Can I do a one/two-day trip to France and return to the UK same day?

I presume I'll need a France-Schengen visa. For those who have applied and been to France from the UK, please what was the process like?

Thinking of having a two-day visit to France later this year or in Q1 2023.

NB: I've been in the UK for 5 months.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I have just gone for my biometrics to be taken and now I wait for the decision for ilr.

I have gone for standard route and I'm unsure how long that would take. Does anyone have any recent experience on this please. Website says about 6months wait to hear back, just want to know of anyone else's experience.

I would come back to update once I've got a decision.

Thank you.
Google "Immigration boards" and you should get a rough idea of the waiting times.

Cos he does not want to leave his lawyer work where he is quite comfortable to be doing menial work in UK. Thats his biggest fear.
Personally, since the guy is doing well and established in Nigeria, I see no point in him relocating. The stress of having to start all over again with no guarantee of success is not worth it in my opinion. He has the money and can travel to most parts of the world he wants to.
I see no tangible advantage in this case.

Its very obvious that Liz got it because she is white. If it is about competency and experience Richy Sunak has more experience than Liz. A majority white Conservative party would never allow Sunak be the Prime minister even for 2 seconds grin

I don't think race was a major factor. A lot of conservatives wanted to pay him back for "stabbing Boris" in the back. He did the right thing but with populist leaders, their base will always come after you should you go against them. Johnson himself wasn't competent. They schemed out Michael Gove so that they will have an easier ride against Jeremy Hunt. I expected Sunak to do the same (tactical voting). He should have given some of his votes to Mordant to edge out Truss.
