My mother moved back in June 2021 after over 45 years in the UK/USA. She said she wouldn’t change it for coming back, she lives in a gate place in Ipaja Lagos. She complains but she still prefers it than staying in the UK or America.
Great. I am only 10 yrs out here. Didn't expect it to be this long but that jackpot is taking longer grin
Given what I know now, I wouldn't have left when I did.

I actually long to go back hopefully well before I reach retirement age. There are security issues but it depends on where you live as well. I am very much in touch with home and visit as well.

need an opinion from guys that have filled visit visa for their parents.
I am doing one for my Dad who is retired and one question that is on the form says: "Why are they helping to pay for your visit?" What are the typical correct responses that I could use so as to confirm what I have stated is also valid
There is no right or wrong answer. State the reason why.

I'm just wondering...if an employee on a 5 Yr sponsored visa switches to a new employer, would he have to pay the visa and its fees again?
During my time, it used to be 3yrs first and then additional 2 yrs extension. My employer paid for both applications but required me to sign a bond that I will refund if I left within a certain number of months. I had to pay my IHS during renewal. My spouse on the other hand had everything paid including IHS and even ILR by the employer. Now I think you can get up to 5years but if you leave, you will have to apply for a new visa and pay new fees but I think your IHS will still be valid. The new employer should ideally pay for it.

The Soviets came to the aid of India when some western countries aligned with their enemies to destroy them. India said they will never forget their friends in time of need. Indian citizens too seem to remember and are in support of their government.

Just be patient, start applying for jobs closer to your graduation date. I’m guessing you’ll be done in September. You can go full gear for Job applications in June/July and let them know you’ll be done in September and can work full time. It all depends on how you sell it to them and how you sell yourself. There’s also the option of applying for graduate roles and sometimes, these employers can hire you now and wait till you are done for you to start.

Good morning everyone,
I need more info and contribution towards the tier 4 visa switch to tier 2 or skilllled worker visa. When is likely for me to push for this? my master program is less than seven months to complete. Also, I read it on Ukvi website that tier 2 application must be submitted 2 to 3 month before tier 4 student visa expired.
Some professional job am applying for now, fine the employer were facisnating with my years of experience and the skill. But the my blocker is issue of 20hrs restrictions for BRP stuff. I have done many interviews but they keep on saying the role is for full time, and the menial work somebody is doing all around could not lifted one to the right path neither career advancement, is just to cater for bills and other miscellaneous. moreover, CoS is needed from employer if I want to apply for tier 2 visa even though am paying the application fees. please shed more light all the elder in the house who has climb the ladder before now.
The best time to start applyting for graduate roles is as soon as you start your masters. So for September start, you start your job hunt say around October, to start work around September the following year.

I personally don't worry too much about the APR since I make sure to pay off all my balance before the due date. I have never paid a pence in interest to any credit card company in the UK.

Good point! All, not most. All 3pm league matches on Saturday are not allowed to be broadcast live on tv in the UK.
Thank you. I thought it was allowed on special days like boxing day and new year.

I have checked the pricing. £85pm is fair since there are the other add-ons. I however don't need these add-ons. From what you said, it sounds like BT and SKY is all I need. I'd figure out how to pay for just BT without getting into a contract with Virgin.
Thanks for your reply.
Be aware that not all premier league matches are shown on TV in the UK. Legally, most 3pm matches on Saturday are not to be broadcast live. So you may find that even with all your subscription, you may not be able to watch some of the matches of your favourite team, depending on the kick-off time.

shocked Scary criteria in there... Hmmm, i might to have a rethink.... but minimum of how long do you think one could get all of the license done if one would like to settle for it? Or are they other lucrative driving jobs? Also how is leather and shoe industry in London faring? I have skills/certification in leather works most especially footwear.. does it pose as a fast way of getting employment?

Thanks for your honest feedback.... God bless

London is expensive. You said your wife is going to Bradford, have you considered the cost of maintaining 2 homes? Or does your wife intend to stay in London with you? No one can give you a minimum time frame as it depends on several factors the most challenging, in my opinion, being getting a driving licence.

Another real life UK story, happened a few days ago ......

A known hypertensive man, was prescribed medications, to lower his BP levels.........

He did his own research about the prescribed drugs, DR Google informed him that possible side effects, could be weakness of his 3rd leg ........

Rather than returning to his GP, voice his concerns/or switching meds or let's assume his 3rd leg got weak.... Be placed on the magic blue pill, he completely refused to take his meds and not medically voice his concerns.......

He was at the restaurant last week enjoying himself last week, he had a cardiac event, rushed to hospital, after a few days, his life support machine was turned off.......

Not only did his 3rd leg eventually die, he also lost all the functions of all his body parts......... All body parts no longer required by him, body parts might be harvested for others to benefit.........

HEALTH IS WEALTH.......

NB : He also did not see the benefits of having a life assurance policy. They have now opened a go fund me page, towards burial expenses etc etc...... ..

Look after yourselves, nobody else will .........
Is it not better to die in active service than to live with a weak and wobbly "leg"?
He may be dead but his manhood lives on. smiley

Absolutely. The US and EU will just succeed in pushing Russia further towards China and that may lead to more problems for them in the long term. I think they should intead negotiate with Russia and offer them guarantees in exchange for the end of hostilities.

Foreign Affairs / Russia Turns To China’s Unionpay System Amid Visa And Mastercard Departures by dustydee: 11:49am On Mar 07, 2022
After receiving multiple sanctions against its financial system following the war against Ukraine, Russia has found an alternative.

Visa and Mastercard joined the growing list of western financial companies that announced plans to withdraw from Russia. Looking for alternatives, the nation’s central bank said it has turned to China’s UnionPay system.

- President Vladimir Putin launched a “special military operation” against Ukraine less than two weeks ago, which still continues until this day with no real endgame in sight for either side.
- NATO and the EU decided not to escalate the conflict by getting involved directly through military actions of their own. Instead, they opted for a more 21st-century option – imposing all sorts of sanctions against the country, the oligarchs, people around Putin, and ordinary citizens.
Most of those measures targetted the Russian Federation financial system. Among the first ones was removing multiple banks from SWIFT.
- During this weekend, it became known that some of the largest western financial companies will also halt servicing Russians, including Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal.
- While speculations arise whether locals will turn to cryptocurrencies, given the skyrocketing trading volume since the war started, Russia’s central bank outlined another solution.
- The institution said that local lenders will be able to use China’s UnionPay system. Founded 20 years ago and headquartered in Shanghai, China, UnionPay (known as CUP or UPI internationally) operates in over 180 countries, according to Russia’s central bank.
It’s also worth noting that the organization said UnionPay could work together with Russia’s own payments system – Mir.

Nope

There is tragedy occuring daily in the world, people die in conflict in the tens of thousands daily. And people die in 100k daily ( don't quote my statistics). It us impossible to keep up with caring for everyone.

I have long decided to only care about my personal circle (naija/UK). Anything else is too much stress.

#ageofspin
The double standard is very glaring. If it is someone they like, their supporters will shout that it be banned. As long as the rules do not apply to the leaders of the US, UK and NATO, why should it apply to Putin?
They banned RT claiming it was spreading disinformation or propaganda even though despite several complaints to OFCOM in the last 4 years, they have not been fined even once. Watch their media and most of what they spew can be interpreted as propaganda too. If Nigeria does it, it's censorship. The day we try as much as possible to be objective and just, they world become a better place. Look at what Canada did with the protesters recently, this was a country that tried to punish Nigeria for the endsars.

Pls my people, if you get any mail from your child’s nursery that someone from his classroom contacted covid. Please withdraw your child for some time. Contrary to NHS guide that the child can still go to school if he/she is not showing any signs or symptoms. As I type this, everyone is my house (self, wife and our 2 n half year old son) has covid.

It all started 3 weekends ago when he was running temperature and we took him to the GP. The Dr examined him and said it was an infection. He then prescribe an antibiotic for 5days. After 4days of taking the antibiotics, we got a call from his nursery that he’s having some signs of reaction on his body. I took him to the pharmacy and he said it was nothing serious but we should stop the antibiotics. He also gave him an oral solution to relief the reaction. Before taking the oral solution we discovered that the reaction had disappeared, but we still gave him for 1 full day. We went back to the doctor and he said we should stop the antibiotics and call the clinic if any new development. All these while, we have been having covid test regularly just to be sure that’s not the situation. Two weeks ago we got a mail that someone from his classroom had tested positive and they attached NHS covid guidance for nursery kids. While we were still going from high temperature to normal temperature and cough, we got another mail from the school a week ago that two other people had tested positive. That was when it got done on me that covid was an option for his situation. All these while we were testing ourself and it came out negative.

To cut the long story short. Yesterday I took him to a testing center and after the test, on our way back home, I started feeling very funny. Got home took paracetamol. Woke up and was not feeling good still, so I took the covid test again early this morning and it turned out positive. My wife did same and also got a positive result. Then we became anxious to know his own test result, though he wasn’t running temperature again, but was still having this little cough and catarrh. Well, hours later after reporting our case to NHS and asking them to follow up with our sons result, we got an sms that he is positive.

To be honest we don’t know where the covid came from as 3 of my wife’s colleagues had to isolate in December and another last month. But we are suspecting the school as the school had to close the room for some time due to growing cases. My advice is not to risk it. If someone test positive in your child’s class, it’s possible to spread from the careers if not from the kids. I don’t know. But that’s our present situation and I am sharing for others to learn from it.
Wish you and your family well.
Staying away might not solve the problem. It may mean having to keep them away more often than not, while still continuing to pay childcare. You also do not know at what stage you were informed and if you child is already exposed to it. I will advise to just continue and if they ask you to keep your child away, in England, you are entiled to a rebate/refund for those days missed.

Nobody ever spent time to justify analysing World War 2 from Hitler's perspective, because its beyond the pale.
And yes, many publications have spoken about what could possibly be Putin's motive, but it's very clear that he is the aggressor here, not Ukraine and Ukraine's joining NATO, had that ever happened (very unlikely), would be a defensive, not offensive move.
He may be the aggressor but has the west not done worse? Of course we all should speak out against injustice but not be selective. The west has caused a lot of harm too but not held accountable.

Are you guys observing the double standard in this Russia v Ukraine saga?
Not home office is saying Ukraninans with families here can come but the same home office denied Syrians and Afghans refuge saying they should claim assylum in thier first safe country of arrival. Then FIFA and UEFA has suspended Russia yet when The UK, France and US invaded Iraq, Libya and Syria, they were not suspended. Also the media organisations here are often fond of accusing the Russian media of bias but are yet to analyse the situation from a Russian perspective or from a Black man's perspective. So much hypocrysy. I pray that peace will reign and both parties will resolve their issues. Putin took a wrong step and the west also.

Meanwhile, something happened yesterday I say I must gist Una.

My husbands colleague was hit from behind at a roundabout. The person poked his head out the window and asked him to please pack well so they could resolve it as they were obstructing traffic.

My guy enters his car and tried to pack well. The person who jammed him IMMEDIATELY zoomed off aka hit and run shocked

He called police but unfortunately no one got the plates and no camera but they said they will try.

P.S- Both parties are Caucasians.

Ya’ll be wise out there. The streets are rough!
It happened to me last month but luckily it just dislodged my bumper a bit and all I had to do was punch it into place.
A lady rear ended me at a zebra crossing. It was dark and she did not get out of her car. I stepped out, looked at the cars but could not see anything as her car was still in my rear. She blurted out "sorry" from inside the car and I entered my car to make way for passing cars, towards a shop that was by the side, this woman just sped off and I couldn't read her number plate because it was very muddy. I wanted to follow her but then I had made the turn already and other cars were already passing by.
