Celebrities / Femi Kuti Admits To Sleeping With His Dancers by FemiFemola: 9:06am On Jul 31, 2018
Afrobeats legend Femi Kuti has denied ever sleeping with underage women, but admitted to having sexual relations with his dancers.

The allegations came out after Femi and sister Yeni Kuti lambasted his bassist Andrew Aghedo, who absconded in the United States.

In response, an Instagram user who identified himself as Solomon Idowu retorted to their posts, claiming that the band members weren’t paid as well as Femi claimed. He also accused him of having sex with his dancers and underage girls.

Femi responded to the claims, denying that he’d ever owed anybody money.

He added: “I sleep with underage girls? He’s sick. But don’t take my word for it. He should produce one police report or case file of such case. Parents could have made noise if you say police covered it up, they could have gone public.

“We never employ underage persons, male or female. Standard.”

He continued: “I sleep/slept with my dancers, none of his business. Tonia dances for me, we’ve been together for over 10 years. We have a daughter together. No secret, none of his business.”

Sports / The 5 Best Super Eagles Strikers Since 2000 by FemiFemola: 4:40pm On Jun 10, 2018
With the 2018 FIFA World Cup only days away, one of the questions about Nigeria's Super Eagles has been the ability of the front line to deliver goals.

The team heads to Russia with Odion Ighalo and Kelechi Iheanacho the two major striking options for the team. Both players aren't in the best of form, with Iheanacho's last goal for Nigeria coming in last year's friendly win over Argentina.

Ighalo, on his part, hasn't scored for the Super Eagles since scoring the opener in a 4-0 win over Cameroon in a World Cup Qualifying match in September 2017.

With quality like England based-duo Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi on the wings, it is hoped that the misfiring strikers won't have too much of an impact on the team's chances of success in Russia.

But has Nigeria always lacked in the striking department? Let's take a look at some of Nigeria's best front-men since the turn of the millennium.

5. Julius Aghahowa

Despite not featuring for the Super Eagles for a prolonged period, Julius Aghahowa left his mark on the Super Eagles. Combining his pace with a keen eye for goal, Aghawonder scored a goal roughly every two games for Nigeria, with Rashidi Yekini and Segun Odegbami the only players to score more goals with a better ratio. And it wasn't just that he scored, he also knew how to celebrate well.

The Super Eagles' best players in the game are Victor Moses and Wilfred Ndidi, who get ratings of 80 and 79 respectively. The rest of the team is below average, with only one of the five goalkeepers even getting a rating of 70 or above.

What do you think of the ratings? Are they fair to our players?

TV/Movies / Nsibidi, The Ancient Igbo Language That Was Used In 'black Panther' by FemiFemola: 2:21pm On Feb 26, 2018
Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest offering, Black Panther, has drawn plenty of praise for its use of actual African cultures.

From the lip plates of the Surma and Mursi tribes of Ethiopia, to the head dress of the Zulu tribe of South Africa, to the Basotho blankets of the Lesotho people, the movie explored various spheres of African tradition.

One of the less obvious ones used was Nsibidi, an ancient language indigenous to what is currently Southeastern Nigeria.

Nsibidi is a centuries-old Nigerian language that used symbols instead of words or sounds. While Nsibidi does appear in some parts of the film — like the pillars of T'Challa's throne room — the main written language is an evolved version created by the movie's production designer, Hannah Beachler.

Education / 2018 UTME: JAMB Bans Wristwatches, Pen, Spy Eyeglasses, USB, CD & More by FemiFemola: 9:55pm On Feb 22, 2018
The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has banned the use of 16 items in the forthcoming mock examinations scheduled for February 26, 2018.

The Secretary of JAMB UTME Monitoring Groups, Ngozi Egbuna, stated the items in a memo issued to members of the Civil Society Group on Thursday and obtained by The PUNCH in Jos.

The memo reads: “Kindly note that examination officials are allowed to scrutinise eye glasses or similar devices and where convinced that such item may compromise the sanctity of the examination, the examination official should confiscate it.

“Where examination official (board staff or ad hoc staff) or any authorised person is found with any of these prohibited items in the examination hall, such compromising action would be treated as a deliberate act of examination sabotage and necessary sanction will be applied.”

The CSG is one of the groups inaugurated by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, to assist in monitoring the UTME.

Last year, the groups were reputed to have assisted in giving information from the field and transmitted several challenges, as applicable, to JAMB officials.

Through the JAMB UTME Monitoring Groups, examination malpractices were said to have reduced in 2017.

The prohibited items are wrist watches, pen/biro, mobile phones or similar electronic devices, spy reading glasses which should be scrutinised, calculators or similar electronic devices, USB, CD, hard disks and/or similar storage devices.

Others are books or any reading/writing material, cameras, recorders, microphones, ear pieces, ink/pen readers, smart lenses, smart rings/jewellery, smart buttons and Bluetooth devices.

Politics / "FG Wants To Increase Fuel Price To N185 Per Litre" - Fayose by FemiFemola: 9:46am On Dec 18, 2017
The Federal Government of Nigeria plans to increase the pump price of petrol to N185, Ekiti state governor Ayo Fayose has claimed.

In a statement on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose also accused the federal government of insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians.

“Petrol is scarce across the country because the federal government deliberately reduced supply since it is only the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) that is importing the product,” the governor alleged.

Continuing, he said: “Allowing fuel scarcity to persist for over two weeks when Nigerians are preparing to celebrate Christmas and New Year is the height of wickedness on the part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government.

“Funny enough, instead of directing its anger to President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the Minister of Petroleum, on December 7, 2017, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) choose to give the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu seven days ultimatum to end the fuel scarcity.
