sophiathefirst: Hi, there!! Sorry, the mods have been on a banning spree, so I decided to ignore NL for a while. Whatzup? Yes, I have been following some of the Zee World movies. I am trying so hard not to fall in love with Bergusarai! This is because, I know Zee World and their crazy tactics. After starting a series rather well, then they would end up inserting some stuvpid plots that don't make sense midway, which would eventually spoil the whole show, with their peculiar brand of foolishness! Priyom is my favourite for now, and I am hoping he does become more popular as time goes on. I also like Pulan Thakkur the ruler, for his wisdom and sense of fairness. Look at how he dealt with Lakhan by soaking him with buckets of water, after Lakhan had punished Poonam by making her stand under the tap for 6 hours! Tit-for-tat is the name of the game. Bindiya is cunning and reckless. Did you see how she released a snake into the Thakkur's mansion, and their grandson got bitten by it? Yet, she immediately jumped up to suck out the venom from the boy's leg. Her greed and manipulative tactics seem to have no end. I rather like Maya and Manjita, too. But Maitlesh reminds me of a typical Naija man, who keeps his wife at home and has a side-chic on the sly. Before that, the same Bindiya had instigated Yadav the rebel, to attack Pulan Thakkur's family. Only for her to turn round, and betray the guy by revealing his plans to Thakkur. The attacks & gun fight that followed was super interesting! After everything was over, and the Thakkurs were safe, Bindiya now crawled out innocently, as if she had done them a huge favour. Silly pretender! The other series currently annoying me right now, are the old repeated episodes of that serial called The Promise. I had forgotten how manipulative Pia could be. And Bani is still a rather big mumu, who keeps doing childish things, while making big speeches about revenge! For goodness sake, she needs to be much smarter. How could she have allowed herself to get arrested a second time, by Pia? What if Aparajit Deb had not come in, to save her at the police station? Chai! As for Jai Walia, he is the perfect epitome of a clueless, powerless puppet! So with all the gra-gra about being a rich billionaire businessman, how come he cannot use his brains to get Pia out of his life, permanently? With Iron Lady, I have developed a soft spot for Rishi. And I am glad to see that his romance with Indira has started. But he should just quickly tell Indira the whole truth about himself, before his brother Sameer spills the beans about his identity! But that Sameer, is a really smooth character. Who knows what he might do next, in order to get the property of Indira's family? 2 Likes |

lazeal: I am sorry about all what you went through, but there are a lot of unexplained aspects. I read your story and I have a few questions. 1). Have you supplied any product/service through your friend to a particular person/company/3rd party? Or are you just seeking for a contract, to be given to you or your friend, so that you can both supply the goods/services? 2). Do you have any proof that the supplies were actually made to that specific person/company/3rd party, by your friend? 3). Do you have any info on the time period for payment (e.g. 30 days or 45 days etc) or can you ascertain exactly how long it takes, for payment to be made, after goods/services are supplied? 4). If it is a genuine deal, most people/companies/3rd parties who require the goods, or those who have received the goods, would definitely have an idea of what you were talking about, when you called them on the phone. At best, they might ask you to call someone else in charge of that aspect within their organisation, by giving you another name, e-mail or number to call. At worst, if they do not want to divulge information on the phone, they might ask you some relevant questions such as: a). What is the name of your firm, when were the goods/services delivered, and to whom? b). Ask you to write a formal letter stating the whole transaction and how it took place, so they can direct it to the relevant authorities, within the firm. c) List out the relevant procedures/steps you need to go through, to actually get the contract. It may not get you the deal at the end of the day, but you would have gotten relevant information, on how next to proceed. Finally, your friend is not being transparent and honest. He is not divulging relevant facts, and his secrecy could cause you to lose money and reputation, at the end of the day. Please be careful with him. If there is truly a contract in place, (as in there is a specific person/company/3rd party who truly requires your goods/services), then your friend should show you details of the contract and/or the LPO for the job. Then make sure you keep a copy with you, which you can go and verify at the firm which issued it. Last word: If you decide to proceed further with this friend, please ensure you both agree on the rules of engagement. There should be a minimum amount of info, that he needs to provide to you, like customers' name, delivery point, LPO copy and payment period. If he cannot give you all these, kindly walk! 1 Like |

kolawoleibukun: Eeyah! Your long epistle shows that you did not even understand the point being made in my last post. Any grown man crying because of gas that did not last for 2 weeks, is merely feeling sorry for himself. I have offered my advice. He should check the valve in his cylinder to ensure it is not leaking. And he should replace it, if he discovers it is leaking. He should also buy from only approved LPG outlets to ensure his cylinder is accurately refilled. Must I repeat this in my native dialect for you to understand it? If you tell me that you do not believe or you cannot understand how cylinder valves can leak, then it means you are grossly ignorant. Talk to experts who know about these things. The rubber seal inside the valve can wear off. Even the regulator can become defective over time. Get a qualified gas technician to check it for you, and change it, if needed. As for those selling LPG cylinders by the roadside and refilling them, you need to realise many of them are unlicensed and crooked. Some are licensed to sell only cooking gas accessories but then, they turn round and start refilling, which is an activity that is not covered by their license. Go to them and ask them for a copy of their current license and you will hear the fake excuses they give. As for buying accurate litres of fuel, ensure you patronise a fuel station with an accurate meter. There are stations I will NOT buy from, simply because I am not comfortable with the way they dispense fuel. And there are others I do not mind going to the extra mile to patronise, because of their accurate method of dispensing fuel. Shine your eye. Everyone has a choice. There are different sizes of gas cylinders. From 3 kg that costs less than 1,000 naira to refill, to the 6 kg which costs less than 2,000 naira to refill to the 12.5 kg and even up to the 50kg. Choose the one that suits your pocket. The same people who lament that gas is expensive will end up buying other items for far more expensive amounts. Some even buy 1 bottle of kerosene, that will not last them for 3-4 days, at an exorbitant rate. Now, if you are done lamenting, kindly stay out of my mentions, since it is obvious that you are allergic to honesty and good advice. Thanks. 2 Likes 1 Share

Business / Re: Nigerians Paid Less For Cooking Gas In January – NBS by LaudateII: 10:24am On Feb 15, 2018 |
kolawoleibukun: No sir. You are the one whose post is riddled with contradictions. First, you said your cooking gas cylinder was filled with Oxygen, without any iota of proof. This was debunked and the reason why it could not occur, was clearly pointed out to you. Secondly, you claimed that your cooking gas does not last. In fact your words were: "In Nigeria before you on am make eba e don finish." This obviously was a clear exaggeration on your part. So I pointed out to you the reason why your cooking gas could end up being inadequate, namely: 1); Refilling your cylinder at a roadside gas retailer, instead of filling it up at a certified LPG Gas plant or LPG skid. I even gave you the average tare weight for a 12.5kg cylinder of gas, and the correct quantity that should fill up the cylinder. Do you remember? If you refill your cylinder at a roadside dealer, you could end up being shortchanged, as many of them are not licensed to refill cylinders, and many of them lack properly calibrated weighing scales or means of measurement. So always refill your cylinder at a properly certified LPG gas plant, instead. 2). Your cylinder valve might be leaking, and this could lead to gas escaping unnoticed from your cylinder. If this occurs, it constitutes a risk. First, the amount of gas left in it would not be enough for your needs, and secondly, it could lead to a fire, if it is not checked or if the valve is not replaced. Now, if you have taken note of all these, there is no reason why your gas cylinder would not last you for a few weeks of usage. Gas is a finite quantity, not infinite. Just like kerosene or wood, it gets depleted as you used it for your daily cooking activities, over a period of time. Even the fuel in your car, ends up running out at a particular point in time, after you have driven it for several kilometres. Just monitor its usage. So what is so difficult about that? I have bought kerosene for stoves, petrol for cars, gas for cylinders and diesel for generators from filling stations, and I have hardly ever been shortchanged. Why? Because I only refill or make my purchases from accredited fuel stations, or LPG plants. In my car, I know where the gauge reaches, when I buy 2,000 naira worth of fuel or more. So if anyone sells fuel to me, and it is below the gauge, I call the attention of the management to it, and ensure it is rectified. In the same manner, when your cylinder is being refilled, at an accredited LPG Gas Plant, kindly watch the gauge on the scale or dispenser, and ensure the accurate quantity is refilled in your cylinder before you leave the place. Be wise. 2 Likes 1 Share

kolawoleibukun: Oxygen-filled gas? How?? Where? What tests did you conduct on the gas to ascertain that your cylinder contained oxygen? Guy, please do not say what you do not know. Oxygen is actually used in hospitals to resuscitate patients, or to enable those with breathing problems, cope easily when trying to inhale. It is also used to enrich fuel, as a disinfectant (for its oxidizing properties), and as a liquid propellant for rockets. I strongly doubt if it can be used for cooking, because when it comes into contact with flammable organic materials, it may react explosively An empty 12.5 kg cylinder usually has a tare weight of 14.3kg - 14.6kg. When you take it to an approved LPG gas plant for refill, it should be filled up with 12.5kg cooking gas. If your cylinder valve is not leaking, which could cause loss of gas, then it should serve you for 2-3 weeks, if you are a small family using it for domestic purposes. A caterer cooking for a large clientele would use more gas, for her trade. Finally, if you refill your cylinder at the roadside resellers of gas, then you can be shortchanged. Most of them lack properly calibrated weighing scales, or an accurate gauge. So how can you tell what quantity was actually dispensed into your cylinder? |

Business / Re: Paddy Adenuga’s Entrepreneur Story And The Depressing Predictability Of Nigeria’ by LaudateII: 1:07am On Feb 14, 2018 |
americanson: Unless Fawehinmi can show strong links between the debt incurred by Adenuga (snr), and the money spent by Paddy in trying to acquire Chevron Netherlands, then most of his assumptions dwell in the realm of speculation. First of all, a lot of analysts use parameters that are subjective in arriving at their conclusions. There are quite a few independent oil exploration companies in Nigeria and elsewhere, that have done good business exploring for crude and trading the product. Dubri oil, Moni Pulo, Famfa Oil, Amni International, Niger-Delta Exploration & Production etc comes to mind. At the start of their operations, many business analysts would have written them off as nonentities, who would be unable to swim with the sharks in an industry dominated by major oil corporations. But they have shown slow, steady and profitable growth, ever since they started exploration and production activities within their marginal fields, years ago. Secondly, in this part of the world within Africa, governments and corporations are far more likely to give credence to foreign firms from the West, than indigenous players. This must have informed Paddy's strategy to launch a bid for Chevron Netherlands. Where there is a will, there is usually a way. There is no way of telling if he probably would have found an innovative way to deal with the abandex issue, if he had succeeded in buying the oil firm. Afterall, Petronas of Oman bought it - so what did they (as the new owners), intend to do about the abandex issue? Would they have closed a blind eye to it? Surely not. Thirdly, at the stage of the company's acquisition, it is highly unlikely that Paddy would have disclosed his entire strategy for the firm, upfront in detail. Such details are kept close to one's chest, and only released at the proper time. Oil prices go up and down. Indonesia is a country that monetised its gas resources very well, so fluctuations in crude prices, did not really affect its oil industry, as it was able to withstand such shocks when things did not go well with revenue from crude sales, due to income earned from gas. Fourthly, Fawehinmi's interpretation of Edgar's action is flawed. He does not reside within the man's mind, and cannot tell if there was some prior unknown story, engagement or action, that informed Edgar's request for money upfront. Oyinbo people do not play with their money, they are not Father Christmas. If they give you credit, you would pay interest on it. Like they say: certain things are sure - death and taxes. Finally, Adenuga (snr) is owning the banks. But the question is this - are those loans being serviced? Are they being repaid, instalmentally? No one has said that Adenuga has defaulted on payments so far.... so why is Fawehinmi so emphatic that taxpayers' money are in jeopardy? Is there a chance that the money may not be recovered from Adenuga? Fawehinmi needs to supply proof of this fact, before throwing accusations left, right and centre. Last but not the least, big fancy cars, high class jet travels, wining and dining etc., are a feature of international business, worldwide. It is difficult to separate such things from the global corporate world, entertainment scene or the foreign oil industry. Those who have heard of the Petroleum Club and its perks, the OTC meetings etc, would know quite well what we are talking about. If Paddy had turned up on the doorsteps of Chevron Netherlands head office, in a battered hired cab, wearing an old weather beaten suit, clutching a sheaf of tattered papers to buy the oil firm, would he have been given a second glance? Probably not. During such meetings, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. And the top management of such an oil firm would have cast doubts on his expertise, assets and ability to play in their league. Businessmen are not altruistic. They merely pretend to be. 4 Likes |

He started importing Toyota cars in the 70s, when most of you lot were not yet born. He was one of the first set of importers, who pushed the brand, within Nigeria. Govt actually approached him to sell Toyota cars to them, after the Peugeot factory had almost gone comatose in the late 90s. Not long after he started, alongside 4 other importers including Sunny Motors, some other new firms followed suit. After the exchange rate of the naira to the dollar started spiralling out of control, he approached Toyota Japan to partner with him in setting up a world-class maintenance facility, as well as a direct distributorship in Nigeria, so that Nigerian importers would not have to buy Toyota vehicles from 3rd parties, in other parts of the world. He did all the leg work to make it happen, and TNL was born. |

Evacroft: I have already answered this question in a previous post. Kindly go back and check. Secondly, people do not just have dreadlocks. It is formed when basic hair grooming techniques are ignored, and the hair is allowed to grow all tangled and locked. Saying dreadlocks is natural, is like saying nudity is natural, so we should all go nake'd. Even the blondes and brunettes you mentioned, comb their hair and those of their children regularly, or brush it daily. They don't just ignore their kids' hair every day, and let it get all tangled and matted. |
