In January 1966, some bunch of over-zealous, albeit naive officers of the Nigeria army took it upon themselves to cleanse Nigeria from corrupt politician. They plotted, and executed an unsuccessful military coup. Stories, and books have been written about them, I shall not attempt to revisit such especially since these folks are late (at least most of them.)

I am interested in the role a certain Mohammadu Buhari played in the July counter-coup. According to Nowa Omoruwa's account:

Planning:
"... practically all northern officers serving in Lagos, Abeokuta, Ikeja and Ibadan eventually became involved, three officers formed the innermost circle of the plot to overthrow Major General AguiyiIronsi. They were T/Lt. Col.Murtala Muhammed (Inspector of Signals), T/Major TY Danjuma (General Staff Officer II, SHQ) and Captain Martin Adamu (2nd Battalion, Ikeja). The coup leader was T/Lt. Col.Murtala Muhammed.

According to late Major General Garba (rtd), others involved in planning in the South include Captain JN Garba, Lt. William Walbe and Lt. Paul Tarfa (Federal Guards), Lts. Muhammadu Buhari and John Longboem (2nd battalion), Lts. Pam Nwatkon (Abeokuta garrison, Recce), Lts Jerry Useni,Ibrahim Bako and Garba Dada(4th battalion, Ibadan), and Lt. Shehu Musa Yar'Adua (Adjutant, 1st battalion, Enugu).
Execution:

By the time (Murtala) Muhammed got to Ikeja, Captain Martin Adamu, Lts. Nathan, Nassarawa, Muhammadu Buhari , Alfred Gom, Longboem and a bunch of NCOs were already in control of the battalion, having executed several Igbo soldiers and officers (including Major B Nnamani, one of the company commanders) and arrested many others by cordoning off the quartermaster section of the barracks or grabbing soldiers as they came out for morning PT.The battalion commander, Lt. Col. Henry Igboba, narrowly escaped a dragnet deployed around his house by Lt. Longboem and got away.

(Murtala) Muhammed reportedly gave orders to stop the killing

I know some will argue here that Mohammadu Buhari simply killed fellow soldiers. But does that make it right?

A sad story of how brilliant Igbo officers were murdered by their comrade with Buhari copiously mentioned in his staring role.

Baffling really is that some ignorant sons and daughters of Igboland will promote this man who has murdered their own flesh and blood as messiah of Nigeria. Very baffling...

Point B.

What is your purpose with post? Do you want a discussion on Buhari's eligibility for presidential race in 2015, or, do you want to discuss his participation in 66 coup?

I don't care whether Buhari killed Igbo officers, civilians or not!

This is not 1966, this is 2013!

BUHARI cannot and must not rule Nigeria! It is as simple as that!

From 1960 till today, only a few men had held this useless jungle of a country to ransom.
Enough is enough!

I couldn't careless how you choose to interpret the post. I reserve the right to entertain your or not whatever angle you choose. My basic concern is that those who root for Buhari should know the man better.

Fair enough.

I personally don't like those who have blood on their hands to ascend the presidency.

Once a murderer, always a murderer, as the old saying goes. It is not by accident that there is NO statute of limitations applicable to the crime of capital homicide, and that is a good thing, for Buhari will get his day in court, where his crimes against humanity will be tried by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, where war genocide architect Charles Taylor recently bagged a well-deserved life term in jail without the possibility of parole.

From his eager participation in summary executions of fellow soldiers in the 1960s, to his murder by jail-cell hell, of enemies both real and presumed, during his reign of terror as one of Nigeria's most blood-thirsty despots in the 1980s, to his rabble-rousing pre-election speeches in the new millenium, where he bayed for yet more innocent blood with each presidential poll in which he was again roundly defeated, Buhari has sufficient blood of innocents on his grasping paws to assure his reserved place in the hottest bowel-region of hell.

What about the cowards who blindly took his kinsmen to war (Biafra) to die for his selfish motive? The coward eventually ran away from the battlefield and seek refuge in Ivory-Coast. This coward died recently with blood of innocent Igbos on his hands too.

T.Y Danjuma was one of the culprits on the list and he happens to President Jonathan's role model. Jonathan said it himself that T.Y Danjuma was his role model as a politician.

Sad to note that. But TY Danjuma is no longer a public figure. I doubt he aspires to rule the country. We can't say same for the General, Muhammadu Buhari, who butchered his colleagues as they came out for morning PT.

Violence was the norm for military officers back then. Yoruba, Igbos and Hausas officers engaged in a lot of blood-letting back then. You made it look like Buhari was the leader of the pack but I saw several officers on the list were superior to him in the military. What about if Buhari was only responding to orders from the superiors? It is okay to have legitimate disagreement with Buhari, but this thing you dug up won't make anyone change their minds, be it for or against?.

I do not intend for you to change your opinion about the murderer - Buhari. I just wanted you to know that guy, despite whatever anyone will say, was involve in the planning and execution of the plot to butchers fellow citizens in cold blood. Several of them were his defenseless colleagues.

If Buhari can do this, what else is he capable of?

You have no proof of him being a murderer. Although, he was involved in a coup to overthrow a democratically elected President without killing a single person. The proof you posted above holds no water in court of law. You may have a legitimate reason to be against him but Buhari is no murderer. Out of all the names you listed, why singling only him out as murderer? Do you have the list of people he killed while he was Head of State? If so, what was their wrongdoing?

Look at this one talking about court of law in this matter. It's like talking about court of law to prove Abiola was murdered in prison. Stop reasoning like a child my guy!

Those who saw nothing wrong in overthrowing a democratically elected President, should either be in life jail or at least hide their face in shame and not to come out to insult our tolerance of their stupid greed for power.

That's the sad story of Nigeria.

A man who brutally participated and supervised in the butchering of his own defenseless colleagues have somehow become champion and voice of the nation. It can only happen in a country without conscience, a country with sense of justice or fairness.

People like Buhari; people with innocent blood on their head only bring curse to the country they lead.

So what proof do you have that Buhari killed anybody?
Is it because a faceless individual mentioned that he was involved?

We know that the forty laptop group are at work.

Nigerian's should open their eyes, all this anti-Buhari threads is intended to prevent Buhari getting into power to tackle corruption. Essentially it is intended to keep you oppressed and impoverished by corruption.

Shine you eyes well well.

Point B,
I may disappoint you with my reply, but I have always believed in the saying that what is source for the Igbo man, should not be poison to the Hausa or Yoruba man.
In your righteous exultation, you have forgotten that the Hausa man will always come up with the arguement that It was an Igbo man, Nzeogwu, who first introduced coup in Nigeria. Did you ever stop to think how the other people felt when a fellow soldier(s) took up arms and went to kill both civilians and Other Soldiers in the wake of the first coup in Nigeria.
You are entitled to your opinion of Buhari being a muderer and should not try to foist your views on other Igbos and/or try to make theem feel guilt for supporting Buhari and his Ideologies.
By the way am Igbo and will defend the Igbo course, but I will not foolishly think that the events of the 60's especially the era of Coup and blood letting leading to the civil war, will make me emotionally blackmail.
Until Buhari is tried by a competent court of Justice, he still remains Innocent of all the accusations you levelled against him.
