And if he does not resign what will they do? Impeach him? They dont have the necessary two thirds needed to do that.

This is some crazy catch 22

Nigerian politicians are clowns and sometimes, good strategists
Exactly!! PDP can't call for his impeachment, that will be dead on arrival.

Under Section 50(2)(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the President of the Senate or the Speaker can be removed from office if supported by the votes of “two-thirds” of all the members.

Tambuwal makes history today as the first sitting Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives since 1959 to decamp to the opposition.
I want to thank outgoing Speaker Tambuwal for lifting the veil of his hypocrisy and officially exit to APC where he belongs.
As a self acclaimed democrat and Change agent, one would have expected Speaker Tambuwal to toe the path of honour and do the needful.
Tambuwal's decision to unveil his membership of Minority APC and cling on to House Speakership is a coup on parliamentary democracy.
Tambuwal's decision to retain Speaker from a minority party is the last bare face attack on parliamentary democracy worldwide. It won't stand
Those who talk about impeachment amuse me. There is nothing to be impeached. Tambuwal ceased to be Speaker upon his defection to APC.

read the article again and point out the area where pdp has asked him to resign. Don't make or pass comment just by looking at topic headings always try to spend 2minutes to read through an article before making comments .

I've NEVER heard any case in other democracies around the world were the minority party still retains leadership in the parliament/House of Assembly. Tambuwal must do the honourable thing and resign his position as the speaker.

He doesn't lose anything if he is impeached. His tenure will end within few months and he will be sworn in as Sokoto State governor by same May 2015 God willing.

Ok, at worst, he will lose speakership position between now and May - 7 months.

His tenure ends in June. And the PDP don't seem to have to constitutional required numbers to impeach him from the seat of Speaker.

whats petty about the call for his resignation? lets turn tables round if someone became speaker on the platform of APC and then left for PDP wouldnt Lai be asking for the same thing?

Am sure the speaker knows whats best for his future just maybe He and Ameachi will contest 2015 you never can tell

As a neutral person I cross my legs waiting to see how all will play out...

This is not a case of impeachment, what he is needed of him is for him to relinquish the speakership position if his new party is in the minority in the house...
