we should all tell our selves the truth. Tambuwal defecting to the APC is his business but in the normal sense he ought to resign as the speaker of the house.

but you are dealing with people who have made Nigeria a laughing stock.
Do not ever expect them to do the right thing.

ProfCorruption:
All you have to do is read the following sections of the Nigerian Constitution:
1. Nigeria's constitution does not reserve speaker's position for the ruling or the party that commands the majority. Anyone, regardless of party affiliation, who can mobilize the majority to vote for him/her would be elected the speaker.
2. Once elected, it becomes an uphill task to remove the speaker. While you need a simple majority to elect, you need a 2/3 to remove.
Now, on what basis is PDP calling on Tambuwal to resign?

A story for the gods... Tambuwal in a couple of hours will cease to be the speaker.

Did OBJ not sack Atiku from Vice President?

Under Section 50(2)(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the President of the Senate or the Speaker can be removed from office if supported by the votes of “two-thirds” of all the members.

Pleas sir, if I may know is "two-third" of vots also needed to put a speaker into office?

I have made my point and have better things to do with my time than play online politics. APC is a clan party for born to rule Northerners and I can't wait to see their faces come Feb 2015 or 2023 for dat matter.

Correction Sir, it is not two-third of ALL members. It is two-thirds majority of the members of that House. By your interpretation, the speaker can be impeached only by 240 or more members, however by constitution, 80 members is the minimal required number to remove the speaker depending on the number of members present
I cited the constitution. Please which constitution are yu quotin? PDP or Nigeria? Reference

He can easily get the Okadigbo treatment:

1) Bring up charges against him in the house.
(getting proceeds of Faruk Lawan corruption case will be a good one to rope him with)
2) All principal officers are to step aside for investigation
3) He refuses to step down - chaos
4) He steps down for investigation and he can take okada to tambuwal village.

I know you cited the constitution but you add the word ALL which is not in the constitution. Sec 50 (2)(c) stated:
if he is removed from office by a resolution of the Senate or of the House of Representatives, as the case may be, by the votes of not less than two-thirds majority of the members of that House.

My argument stands, there is no ALL before members of that house. 80 members is the minimum depending on the number of attending members on the day's sitting

What about Mimiko??

Did you type this sort of epistle when he decamped??

Your hypocrisy don wear bra and G-String..

grin

If you don't know what 'epistle' means, then I don't expect you to know the stark difference between a governor's defection and a Speaker defecting from the majority party to a minority party and yet expecting to retain the position he got by virtue of belonging to the majority in the first place! You would also not know that, by global convention, leadership of parliament is reserved for the majority party.

I'm sure this "epistle" is too complicated for you to understand.
