So an aunt saw mum bathing my daughter and started asking why we didn't cut off that thing in her hoohaa.
I started wailing that it is not even something any mom in this age should consider.

Then she said there is an alternative.
That leaving it like that will make her too "active"
That alternative is dusting powder.
Dusting powder!!!

She says it will kill some cells that cause the need for too much pleasure.

Please don't read and waka pass o.
Let us deal with this matter.
People need to be aware.

I am concerned because I wouldn't want to my girl to grow up and start being promiscuous. I heard a story of one waka waka lady who claimed that it was because nothing was done to her hoohaa...

Is there even any truth in that?
If there is, are there ways one can prevent such?

Should the hoohaa of our female infants be left just as they are? Any risks.

Asides the rudderless posts here and there, I am happy at the turn the thread took and how mothers here addressed the issue. I would like to believe that people are better sensitized. I am smiley

When I created this thread, it was no where near my mind to put any sharp object on DD.

Infact, if I had known the depth of danger in dusting powder, and how it's actually a form of FGM, I would have put up the thread eventually, but not before putting up a caveat.

All I wanted at the time was to know if dusting powder could be used to help make the hoohaa not look tattered.

It turned out that my idea on "tattered" hoohaas was mostly wrong and that people are created that way. It does not make them less human.

While I hope and believe hers doesn't turn out "tattered", I have decided to take my mind off that and believe that this creation whom I'm responsible for is perfect in the eyes of her creator. I can either choose to believe so too and encourage her to view her body and life from the same lens, or I choose the direct opposite. I go with the former.

It is on this note that I strongly condemn Female Genital Mutilation A.K.A curcumcision of the female child.

I don't see any relationship between dusting powder and it's effect on c.lit.It definitely doesn't kill cells there.

Promiscuity to a great extent has to do with knowledge,exposure and lack of training.As a child grows(boy or girl),he/she is made aware of the changes in the body and the effects.Self restraint and sexual education/safe sex is also taught.

Congrats on the birth of your LO.

How we are so protective of our kids, our loved ones, working, time ensure the have the best of life without any hassles. And when the kids are grown, some may not see posts like this.

Me don't know but female circumcision must be discouraged through whatever means.. ...dusting or baking powder.

I think that experiences differ.
Not forgetting belief systems too.

Plus I don't have much female friends, compared to males. Inshot, I don't have as much friends to make up a sample size hence my decision to bring to NL for vast opinion sampling.
